I've played the TE Forged club for many years, with both the Score/steel shaft and the graphite shaft. I like the look, the forged feel and the "Old School" lofts. BTW it's great to see that SOMEONE is reviewing Maltby/component equipment, it really is excellent equipment at a very fair price.
Saw this video in July, ordered TS3 5-GW. Very, very happy. Irons are all you said they would be. Could not agree more with your ranking! Just turned 74, with an index that's falling, now < 4. It's really special watch/feel these irons perform. Confidence over a shot is a wonderful thing. (Last week made 4 birdies on the back nine twice. Best ever!!)

Agree don't hit driver, it's not a review of score it's about how you hit the irons. Better still just hit irons on all tee shots and fairway shots, even if that means playing par 5 with 4i, 5i 8i so you get to hit them all.
Really like that the lofts aren't jacked up too far like so many game improvement clubs today. I find more traditional lofts to be so much easier on the eye when playing. These seem to hit the sweet spot.
I haven't watched your channel in a while but wanted to say you're looking great! Younger and healthier. Whatever you're doing keep it up and good on ya! Thanks for keeping the great content coming!!!
Try the TE+. They are unbelievable. Chose them over the Mizuno JPX Tour. I think by far the best direct to consumer brand clubs. Not even close. Build quality is excellent and feel is great. A forgiving club with a players look, slightly longer blade length with very little offset.
I assembled a set of TS3's this spring and have played 3 rounds with them. They are fantastic. Medium top line hides all of the game improvement weight distro. Super forgiving and great feel. Once you dial in your numbers they are insane. I recycled my iron shafts so my 5-GW set was less than $400. These replaced a set of Custom KZG irons and will now stay in the bag for a few years!!!
I like how you do your reviews. Not a fan of iron only. Like you I like seeing what a real round with real trouble and opportunities is DEFINITELY the right choice.
Really appreciate you reviewing these Gabe and also a big thanks to bringing the Maltby brand to my attention in general. Looking for some advice if you don’t mind. I’m currently in my 4th year of playing golf, 21 handicap and see myself ending the season somewhere around 16-18hcp. I’m gaming a starter set I bought second hand from Craigslist (top flite XL7000 originally made in like 2012). Some basic info on where my game is at right now incase it helps. I don’t struggle to get the ball in the air, I’d say decent ball striker atm. I currently lean a bit more to the sweeper side of things but do take a small divot on my shots (getting better). Hitting around 22-25% GIR on my rounds so far this season which is much better from years prior. Been steadily improving every season but things are seemingly starting to click for me this year. Still young, played sports my whole life and can see myself getting to single digit golf eventually. I’ll be upgrading at some point this year and it’s either TS1-IM or these TS3’s, I’m leaning TS1-IM purely based on the looks but wondering if that might a mistake? From everything I’ve seen and read it seems like I can’t really go wrong with either but having played both I was wondering if you’d (or anyone else with experience) recommend one over the other for someone like me. I likely won’t be upgrading again for at least 5 years so any insight would be much appreciated.
The TS3 have a very low VCOG which is nice for sweeper style swings. I have a sweeping swing and have found the TS3 to be insanely nice and easy to play.
Gabe, there are a couple of really great things about your channel. One is your enthusiasm and love for golf. The other is that you give exposure to brands that I would otherwise not experience. As far as your only irons vs. play the way you normally play question, I think an all irons format might be worth trying. After all, you are trying to evaluate irons, and the more irons you hit the more information that you (and us) have. Thanks for what you do.
Love the Maltby lineup … best kept secret in golf. This industry is too snooty and too influenced by what (endorsing) tour player choose. Bravo Gabe for not selling out and purely judging a club by its merits
Great review Gabe I own a set of Maltby TS3 irons as well with UST Dart Recoil 75G F4 stiff shafts and they are amazing irons, I've had them since they came out.
Maltby aka Golfworks has been selling component clubs for a very long time. They have the history and knowledge to put out quality products year after year. Their TE models have been a staple line for them and is now tweaked for I think a 5th time.
Gabe, as always, you have knocked it out of the park! I love the authenticity and insights that you provide in your reviews. You give all of us mere mortals incredibly valuable info to help our golf game in a very entertaining fashion. Thanks & keep it up! ⛳️👍🏻
@@sethnorthern711 They make the STi2 in left hand. They aren't as nice as the forged offerings, but they actually feel shockingly good for the price. I compared my buddy's STi2 to my TS3 and the STi2 held their own. You can get a full set for under $250.
Been playing the ts3 with the tt elevate shaft for the past 2 years. If you wanna launch them and bring them down on a rope, that's the combo you need. Current hdcp is 5.8. Also don't dismiss the hybrids, have 3h-5h in ventus red stiff. That 5h goes 190 and finishes maybe 1 foot from its pitch mark.

Nice video again thanks! I’m a 2017 TaylorMade P-790 user that want to change his irons. I was fit recently and again P-790 2023 (I think many fitting places have a incentive to sell certain brands) were recommended. I’m a single digit handicap, 67 years old with slow swing speed (88-90 mph driver). Looking at the Maltby TS1-IM and the Maltby TS-3. Ideally a club with forgiveness but a distance club is what I’m looking for as speed won’t be something that will increase with my age. Do you have any recommendations?
I do agree with the "play as you play" take, but I would be interested to see a full run of just the irons. If not from the front tee's, maybe a municipal course where it brings the irons more into focus.
@@TheApostateTapir yeah can't argue with the looks sentiment about the TS4's BUT the 3's still look fantastic. I'm not even mad at the slightly thicker topline because the blade length is actually a little shorter on these. Bottom line is Maltby literally has a club for EVERY golfer! And they're unique and proprietary designs that actually work. Not borrowed copies like these others.
I just bought some Taylormade oversized Burners for my first set. Do you think these are okay for a beginning golfer? They feel okay but I think they might be old? The closest videos I found of them were from like 1998 lol they definitely arent the 2013 ones I see other videos on... so somewhere between 1998 and 2012 lol I only paid $120 and I got a taylormade aeroburner driver. Are these too old? Should I be looking at something newer?
I live near the Golfworks pro shop and was able to test out and get fitted for a set. I went intending to get the TS1-IM but tried them all. But the TS4 won me over. I found the TS3 (in indoor simulator) was less consistent with distance control. And you’re right the blades look sweet and give confidence
I live within a short drive of Golfworks who makes this club and for some people who think Golfworks has ancient marketing, don’t understand what I know, which is their clubs are in high demand. I was in the other day and they do very well. I’ve had quite a few Maltby iron sets and they are fantastic irons. I actually have a set of TS3’s. They’re great clubs for sure! I do have and play the new staff irons but Maltby irons are top notch. For me personally, I kinda wish they made a smaller looking head, hence why I play Wilson Staff irons and I apologize if anyone who knows me who works at Gokfworks, sees my comment haha
I also play the TS3 paired with MMT graphite shafts and they are by far, my favorite clubs I have ever owned. The feel, especially when I swapped from Nippon Modus 105 to the MMT 85, is the best of any iron I have hit, ever. Also the low mid launch really gave me the best trajectory as they do get up there. Ive owned the ts-1 and ke4 max prior and these are easily my fav Maltby design. Great review and glad to see confirmation of my thoughts.
Gotta say i bought a brand new set of ts3 from ebay for 400 in march after watching the videos of ts 1 im and ke4max. Best irons ive ever owned ive had titleist dci 962 which i hold dear to my heart but those dont hold a candle to these silk smooth way softer than any mizuno i have owned! Im sure mizuno fanboys will come after me for that statement but i dont care. Thanks gabe for showing me and other about maltby irons. Im in Oregon anytime your out here would love to tee it up.
I’ve been shopping for new irons for several months, was leaning to the Pxg 0311T, saw you video on these and decided to try the TM3s. Couldn’t be happier. Great looking, incredible feel and forgiving. Even though they are 4 degrees weaker than my Pxg gen3 Xps, I hit them the same distance but higher and significantly more spin, better decent angle. So stoked my search is over. Thanks Gabe!
Hi Gabe, please keep testing the irons the way you do. You can compare them against all other clubs tested and the way you would play the course. Maltby do appear to make quality clubs. Time for them to open in Thailand or South East Asia.

What are your thoughts on the TS1 IM vs the TS3? Both have caught my eye for my next set. I have gotten older and looking more for buttery feel and think the TS1 IM with the polymer would be the better choice.
The cost depends on cost of the shaft and grip...I have a similar Maltby irons..with great shaft..ends up 109$ per club and I do the assembly including spine alignment..super feeling and worth the money..Stressdr
I built fishing rods and I would find the spine by bending the rod with pressure on the tip and rotating in the palm of my hand till I felt tension and it would pop in place. That’s how I knew where the spine was. How can I find the spine of a steel shaft without having to pay $20 or $25 per shaft to get “pure” charge from maltby? Is there a diy method?

Is there a big difference between the TS1-IM, these TS3's and then the TS4? All forged and look the business for sure! Is there a "playability" difference?
Do a search for Maltby Playability Factor and you can actually see how Maltby scores their clubs with all club specs included.. and basically every club on the market for that matter.
When I play alone during the week I'll play an iron only from the reds round. Makes it fun. Also I'm 71y/o so I am only moving up a one set of tees but I can decide on laying back with a shorter iron to have a longer iron into a green.
@LetsPlayThru was paired with a guy today playing a split set of TS4/TS3's and some of the Maltby TSW wedges. I asked him how he liked them and he was in love. He was a pretty darn good player too. Then I asked where he learned of Maltby.. he said he'd never heard of Maltby until he saw your review. It's the first time I've ever seen another set of Maltbys in the wild besides mine. Your exposure is definitely making a mark on the world! Keep up all the good work sir!
I've been on the fence between several different brands and your videos have really helped a lot. I have a slower swing speed, probably around 75 to 80 and I'm wondering if I should spend a little extra money for a stiff graphite shaft instead of a regular steel one. What would you suggest?
Just an FYI, graphite doesn't necessarily mean that they're more flexible than steel. It just depends on what frequency (flex) profile the manufacturer wants for that shaft. The benefits of Graphite over steel are usually lighter weights, which can improve swing speed, and more dampening which can equate to softer feel. These days, graphite shafts are every bit as stable as steel and tolerances can be even tighter. If you're interested in Maltby, their MPF Pro shafts are incredible. They even have some club Paks that include this shaft. They play a little stiffer than stated so a R flex would be right up your alley. They're extremely stable and feel great with very tight disbursement. Definitely worth considering if Maltby is at all on your radar.
Thanks for all the reviews. I just pulled the trigger on a full set of the TS3s (and had been debating between the 1 IMs and the 3s for some time). For those that might be doing the same, Here are my thoughts. The 3s definitely look better in person than i had thought they would. Very clean and sleek. The IMs look better IMO, but not enough to sway my decision. At address i felt more confident with the 3s. A slightly larger top line and a little more offset, but def dont look like shovels. Distance wise i was hitting the IM and 3s just about the same. Tighter dispersion with the 3s in my experience and they felt more forgiving. Also better feedback on slight misshits. But when struck pure man did they feel good (and slightly better than the IMs). I had a p790 that i was comparing them to and I thought both were better, particularly with feel/sound, and thats not even considering the price difference. With that factored in the Maltbys are a no brainer.
Gabe, what type of golfer are these best suited to? Player distance iron? Or game improvement. You mention workability, so Im guessing player distance.
For someone that is still new at golf and currently running the Costco set. I’m thinking about getting a set of these from the PaK set. How do I find the length of shaft I need. Was thinking of going stand length
You could go to a local golf shop and have them measure you. It would be free. But if you’re already using that set and it seems to work, I think you’ll be fine with regular length unless you are very tall.
I would argue these are right where clubs should be priced, maybe a touch high. Especially if we want to grow the game. Until we get past 1200 dollar iron sets and 550 dollar drivers, the new market is just never going to be on my radar. Not sure if feel the 5/5 looks, but that's clearly the most subjective.
Gabe looking good my friend? Have been doing anything to lose weight? Or just golf and summer heat? I’ve been using precor elliptical myself since May 2022, went from 292 to 200 and has definitely helped my golf game!
We need to get one of those wedges in Gabe's hands. I moved from TM MG3's to the Max Milled 1.05's. I feel like I can hit wedge shots with my eyes closed with these and the spin is so predictable! And for $60/club it just plays right into their quality to value model.
@@TheApostateTapir would be cool to eventually get him a full set for a Maltby bag review. Woods, wedges, irons, and putter. I think we can make it happen lol.
I know woods are part of the game, however when you’re reviewing irons it would be great to see only irons and putter used, that way you would maximise the usage of what you’re reviewing. I sometimes leave my woods at home just to see how well I can play without them, and sometimes I am pleasantly surprised.!
What would work great with this idea is that if Gabe has a nice exec to play at. This way he has a chance to work through the whole bag in 1 video and not seem stretched to make the distance.

For more iron shots in iron reviews: on the longest holes play driver from the tips so you have mid iron 2nd shots. The shortest holes play the reds with irons. How the 5-9 perform means the most, as most guys can hit a decent wedge shot with any type of club ...
Agree!
GOOD MORNING MALTBY GANG.
Appreciate you doing more Maltby! Hope we get to see some of the drivers/woods/wedges.
TS1 IM 💪
TS3 💪
You are doing what most golf TH-camrs don't do! Great to see the smaller companies get some recognition
I haven't watched your channel in a while but wanted to say you're looking great! Younger and healthier. Whatever you're doing keep it up and good on ya! Thanks for keeping the great content coming!!!
Yeah Gabe is looking skinny!
Welcome back!
Would love to see some Maltby driver/wood/hybrid reviews. As good as the irons?
I like how clean these look, the absence of any other materials on the outside, no gimmicky colorful plastic, just pure beauty.
That's a recent aesthetic with Maltby, as a long time player of their clubs, I think they have really gone next level with their current lines.
These are one of their most forgiving irons per their MPF rankings, with the TE+ right behind them. So happy to see you give Maltby some love.
I've had a set of TS3s sitting in my Golfworks cart for probably a year. This video might be the final push I needed.
Too bad they are on backorder now lol
Thanks my friend 🙏
Love the Maltby lineup … best kept secret in golf. This industry is too snooty and too influenced by what (endorsing) tour player choose. Bravo Gabe for not selling out and purely judging a club by its merits
I'm so glad you got to test theTS3's, I knew you'd love them. Everyone's raving about them.
I have a set of the KE4 Max, 4-GW. I love them, but I may look at a set of the TS-3's now. Thank you.
Thanks Seth
@@LetsPlayThru Does Maltby currently only make RH irons?
@@sethnorthern711 They make the STi2 in left hand. They aren't as nice as the forged offerings, but they actually feel shockingly good for the price. I compared my buddy's STi2 to my TS3 and the STi2 held their own. You can get a full set for under $250.
@@TheApostateTapir Do you know if Maltby plans to expand LH to their other models?
@@sethnorthern711 I am unaware of any plans to do so. However, Maltby is receptive to emails if you'd like to get a more solid answer.
You playing the new TC Pro? Or the previous? I have the new 7 wood and the thing is a distance approach weapon! Have it paired with the Maltby MPF shaft too. Their whole line up is a criminally underrated sleeper squad. EVERYTHING is world class.
@@AZstu324 the previous hybrids...just saw the new ones in the catalog. got them on order. I use the MPF shaft in my 3wood. I will tell anyone that will listen....especially if they are about to shell out 2g for some 18th gen typical oem nonsense.
would you recommend these, the ts1 im, or the takomo 201s? looking for a forged set thats forgiving enough but still workable. mid-low handicap
Yessss!!!! Thank you for the opportunity to send these clubs in for review!
Doin Maltby proud man! I'm loving my TS3's and not really missing my TS4's THAT much lol.
Good job my man!
@@AZstu324 The TS4's look better, IMO, but the TS3 are such a special club
@@TheApostateTapir yeah can't argue with the looks sentiment about the TS4's BUT the 3's still look fantastic. I'm not even mad at the slightly thicker topline because the blade length is actually a little shorter on these.
Bottom line is Maltby literally has a club for EVERY golfer! And they're unique and proprietary designs that actually work. Not borrowed copies like these others.
I was expecting it to be Stu who sent these in, I am definitely going TS3s this summer!
How would you compare them to the TS1-im’s?? Thanks. Definitely have peaked my interest in a set!!
I just ordered a set of TS4's from the custom shop. I was really considering the TS3's but the blades won me over.
You won't be disappointed! The 4's are so sexy!
Maltby has always made fantastic clubs, I would love to see a review of the Putters they make.
I’ve been playing Maltby clubs for years, great clubs and value!
Happy to hear you’re loving them!
Love Maltby! It would be great if you could do a video describing the difference between the 3 irons as far as forgiveness, blade length , offset etc
I'm definitely in the camp of irons only in these reviews. It would allow you to hit most or all irons in the set.
That’s so good to hear. Hope they serve you well for a long time!
Love this! My son bought these irons two months ago and loves them.
Sounds like your son's dad needs a set of them too! 😜
Hi Gabe, please keep testing the irons the way you do. You can compare them against all other clubs tested and the way you would play the course. Maltby do appear to make quality clubs. Time for them to open in Thailand or South East Asia.
You have just got a new subscriber man. I watched your reviews on budget clubs and then got a real interest in the Maltby clubs even though I'm Irish and living in Germany. And also just wanted to say a big heads up on the weight loss from six months ago, you are in great shape😊 plus your delivery and style on all things golf is brilliant. I'm confident that your channel will really blow up.
Appreciate the support 🇮🇪 🇩🇪
Wooooo hooooo!! These are what I've turned to for the remainder of 2024. Great video again sir!
IMO these are the absolute PERFECT transition iron. You could play them if you're a 20 hdcp or a 7 like me and be very happy either way. They're otherworldly forgiving for CB's and can work a ball like a good player's club should.
Yeah totally agree, Stu. These are the Maltby’s for me.
I had a 7 and 8 iron made up with Nippon Modus 120 to test...absolutely love them and will be having the rest of the set 4-G made by Golfworks / Maltby. Very clean look (better in person than their website), soft feel and forgiving. super value in my opinion. thanks Gabe, great review as always. love your enthusiasm :)
Great job on what content you've put out for many years, I've watch so many differnt social media platforms about golf instructions or reviews and I'm not sure any other channel does what you do. And is very good at it.Honesty is very easy to for me to see,no nonsense, no sales pitches, leaving our Ego at home in the game of golf goes a long way, idk, just a pat on the back when I see things that deserve a honest comment. Thanks for your effort and knowledge, anything done right in life its easy.
I would love to see you review the Maltby drivers and fairway woods.
😂😂 Missionary type golf, that cracks me up. I have the TS3 and so far so good. They are the best club I have owned!! Great review, thanks Gabe!
WHAT??? Not using the L A B Putter??? 😳 Great review !!! Just got my Golf Works New catalog in the mail yesterday , have not had a chance to look it all over .

@@LetsPlayThru wondering how many birdies you'd have if the LAB was in the bag.
Just got a 7 iron to test it this weekend. Very much looking forward to it. Damn you Gabe!!!
Update: Test was successful... Ordered the pak. Damn you Gabe!
What are your thoughts on the TS1 IM vs the TS3? Both have caught my eye for my next set. I have gotten older and looking more for buttery feel and think the TS1 IM with the polymer would be the better choice.
If you need a little more distance, I’d probably go TS1.
I ordered a set of TS1s. They arrive today. Can't wait to play them
how are they
I just picked up a set of these. Love them! They're everything you say they are
Congrats 🍾
What handicap range would be recommended for these clubs?
to be honest, any. These are as easy to hit as any SGI clubs.
Hey Gabe @ Let's Play Thru⛳ I Love all your great video reviews. Gabe Excellent content the best videos on the internet. I just put my $1,000 set off clubs together. Thanks Gabe, I am going to look into these irons. 👍🏼
Yes! My gamers! I absolutely love these clubs, incredible brand
Is there a big difference between the TS1-IM, these TS3's and then the TS4? All forged and look the business for sure! Is there a "playability" difference?
I’d rank them TS1-IM > TS3 > TS4 in order of playability
Do a search for Maltby Playability Factor and you can actually see how Maltby scores their clubs with all club specs included.. and basically every club on the market for that matter.
Maltby rates their playability (MPF Rating) as TS3>TS4>TS1-IM if I recall correctly
When I play alone during the week I'll play an iron only from the reds round. Makes it fun. Also I'm 71y/o so I am only moving up a one set of tees but I can decide on laying back with a shorter iron to have a longer iron into a green.
Love a test TS1 IM vs. TS3 Maltby You convinced me on the IMs and purchased. My IMs replaced My MP32 Mizunos.
Oh man, that's crazy! So in effect you're the reason he has them, because I never would have reviewed them if you didn't send me yours to test.
@@LetsPlayThru ok I'll take 25% of the credit 😜
Which set of irons would you suggest for new golfer?
I've been on the fence between several different brands and your videos have really helped a lot. I have a slower swing speed, probably around 75 to 80 and I'm wondering if I should spend a little extra money for a stiff graphite shaft instead of a regular steel one. What would you suggest?
Hard to say without trying it out. Is there a local golf shop you can try shaft options at?
Yup you nailed it. Congrats on the new set
How do these clubs compare to MacGregor MTs?
Thank you for very nice reviews.
Yes for the 'Irons Only' for irons reviews. Play off the up tees and use all the irons.
Gabe, what type of golfer are these best suited to? Player distance iron? Or game improvement. You mention workability, so Im guessing player distance.
They're pretty impressively forgiving. I would say maybe not for a complete beginner, but they'll be great for anyone from 20 handicap to scratch.
Agree 👆
I just got the Ke4s, haven’t taken them out yet but I’m excited
For someone that is still new at golf and currently running the Costco set. I’m thinking about getting a set of these from the PaK set. How do I find the length of shaft I need. Was thinking of going stand length
You could go to a local golf shop and have them measure you. It would be free. But if you’re already using that set and it seems to work, I think you’ll be fine with regular length unless you are very tall.
Looking slim brah!!! Keep on doing what you're doing. I'm gonna have to try these Maltby clubs!!! Whats the weight of those shafts?
About 117g
I would argue these are right where clubs should be priced, maybe a touch high. Especially if we want to grow the game. Until we get past 1200 dollar iron sets and 550 dollar drivers, the new market is just never going to be on my radar. Not sure if feel the 5/5 looks, but that's clearly the most subjective.
If your a high handicap player, +15, would you recommend these clubs to someone like me ?
Right on the edge. I think I’d be leaning at something like the Wilson Staff Dynapower instead
What camera and mic are you using the footage is great. Irons look awsoeme thanks.
What putter are you using? Great clubs and you are putting great.
Don't get why your channel doesn't have more subs! And looking trim Gabe, congrats!

I love my KE4 Max irons!
How do these compare to the Takomo 101t you reviewed?
I have these, 4 thru gap. Love them. Also have the max 090 wedges which are spin machines
We need to get one of those wedges in Gabe's hands. I moved from TM MG3's to the Max Milled 1.05's. I feel like I can hit wedge shots with my eyes closed with these and the spin is so predictable! And for $60/club it just plays right into their quality to value model.

I was looking at the Takono 101s. Now im interested in these. Whats Maltbys equal to the 101s?
Im a 13 handicap.
TS1-IM is closest to
I know woods are part of the game, however when you’re reviewing irons it would be great to see only irons and putter used, that way you would maximise the usage of what you’re reviewing. I sometimes leave my woods at home just to see how well I can play without them, and sometimes I am pleasantly surprised.!
Headed to west palm beach in September. Any course you would recommend? Also looking to go somewhere in Jupiter.
10 handicap that plays a combo takomo set. What combo setup of maltby would you recommend. Prefer forged feel
I went from a combo MC/MB Takomo set to the TS3s, love them, so good. My mid longer irons have been significantly improved...very impressed
Never heard of Maltby until I started watching your channel. Very impressive.
If I wanted to go get fit for shafts for these heads, what head would be comparable to use in the fitting or does it matter much?
In terms of shaft, I would say any players cavity back style will do to get a good idea.
I like the idea of moving up and hitting irons in for iron review
What would work great with this idea is that if Gabe has a nice exec to play at. This way he has a chance to work through the whole bag in 1 video and not seem stretched to make the distance.
