  • ✨Watch the Updated Version of this Video Here: • Starting Flower Seeds ...
    In today's video I want to share with you my seed starting set up!
    I think one of the biggest misconceptions people have when it comes to starting seeds indoors is that they think they have to have a fancy set-up- especially if they want to grow either a lot of flowers or if they want to grow commercially. And I'm here to tell you that that simply is not true.
    As someone who is entering their fourth growing season, I can tell you that I have literally grown thousands upon thousands of seedlings right here in my own kitchen. And honestly, it hasn't even cost me that much money...
    So let me show you how we do it!

    I am soooo grateful for all of your videos. You are an amazing teacher. I do have a question.... Do you put all your newly planted trays under lights to germinate reguardless if it says need light or not? Is seed depth enough for darkness?

    • @twosistersflowerfarm
      @twosistersflowerfarm  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Awe thank you so much! I appreciate your kind words :) Yes, I typically treat all my trays the same and will put them all under lights. You can certainly keep the lights off until yours have germinated but I've never had a problem even with my seeds that do better in darkness. Good luck!

      So I was going to order the lights you have linked however, it will not let me order more than 1 set. If you don't mind me asking if a fixture is 4500lm and 6000k is that ok? Will I need to keep them farther away from the seedlings?

    • @twosistersflowerfarm
      @twosistersflowerfarm  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bettys7019 In my opinion, they should work just fine. And if were me I wouldn’t change anything with how I set up the lights. I have multiple sets of lights- all with varying lumens/kelvins and I treat them all the same 💛😀

    Hi, Love the video and thorough information. I may have missed it, but how many hours of light per day do you give seedlings?

    • @twosistersflowerfarm
      @twosistersflowerfarm  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I like to aim for 14-16 hours. You can certainly do less, the trick is to try and imitate what your seedlings would be receiving if they were outside. Warm season flowers are usually grown in the summer under longer light days :)

  • @kenkouches7603

    I really like all your videos and I'm following you because you get to the details quickly. I have one questions, how long do you keep the lights on with your seedlings? I have a pretty big bathroom and I'm planning on purchasing some light fixtures and shelving. Thanks and looking forward viewing more of your informative videos! Take care

    • @twosistersflowerfarm
      @twosistersflowerfarm  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Ken, I appreciate the kind comment! I tend to keep the lights on for about 14 hours each day. Really I aim for anywhere between 12 and 16 hours- that way I'm mimicking what the plants would receive outside if they were in full sun. Best of luck to you this growing season!

    Hi i had a question so I started off my seedlings with the heat mat and the humidity and I removed the humidity cover but I'm not too sure if I should leave the heat mat still underneath about more than 50% have sprouted up showing the green leaves but it's only been 5 days. What would you suggest I'm starting them off in a room with a LED grow light about 3 inches away due to the fact they are only 2600 lumens.

  • @ginakendrick2581
    @ginakendrick2581 ปีที่แล้ว

    I am so upset because some of them you can tell are trying to reach the light. germination on the poppies happened in 4 days. Sunny window yes but I'm in Vermont it's only about 45 to 50 in the daytime light. What can I do?

    • @twosistersflowerfarm
      @twosistersflowerfarm  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a tough one because plants really do need ample light to grow into healthy seedlings. Have you tried either battery operated grow lights or perhaps you might look into the mini greenhouse covers that are often found on amazon- you'll have to do your own research as I've never tried them, but they're suppose to mimic the conditions of a regular greenhouse + protect your plants from the elements.

    Some of my seedlings have gotten leggy because I had my lights too far away…is there any way to save them or is it best to plant new seeds? 🌷🌷

    • @twosistersflowerfarm
      @twosistersflowerfarm  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's always a chance to save leggy seedlings- some of the best things you can do is increase the amount of light (like you said, moving your lights closer to the plants will help!); also sometimes it helps to introduce a fan into your grow space- the fan mimics a light breeze and it can encourage your seedlings to grow stronger stems/roots. If you have extra seeds, it never hurts to sow a few more for insurance. I try and remind myself that seeds are 'relatively' inexpensive + it never hurts to grow a few more so that you for sure get to enjoy some blooms this season! Best of luck!
