I was there at the F1 Village today in Barcelona, and watching that last lap from Norris was just amazing. Seeing everyone cheering as he came over the line was awesome
Idk about 2, but maybe 3. Even if Max did DNF twice in the next two races, AND if Lando won both those races AND got fastest lap, Lando would still be 4 points behind Max. And let's be honest. That won's be enough. Red Bull easily still has the best package by overall by some margin, and McLaren and Ferrari (and possibly even Mercedes) are so close together on pace, that they will inevitably be taking quite a lot of points away from each other, while Red Bull and Max will capitalize on that. So I don't think anyone but Max really has a chance in the drivers championship this season, but the constructors championship is absolutely on!

vcarb reported multiple times that they were sacrificing qualifying this week to test their upgrade and car, and and on top of that the updated rear wing was broken the entire weekend so they had to revert to their previous spec. Previous spec wing + new update package without the wing meant for it = not a happy car unfortunately. Hopefully things can change for the 2nd leg of the triple header!

well, Dan Fallows isnt really the best, AM23 was fast, because of the Inspiration of Redbull (many others also), I mean like, even Horner said, that he didnt that much for the team anyways. They have Downgrades, their car is fast in high speed corners, and too slow in the slow corners, thats why theyre struggling.

According to Laurent Mekies on french TV, the reason Racing Bulls didn't do well is that they don't fully understand how to maximize their new parts, and they have had problems on friday which doesn't help. By the way, I realized something interesting. The vast majority of team principals speak french and I think that's great ! Obviously Laurent Mekies, Bruno Famin and Fred Vasseur ARE french, but then Toto speak a perfect french, same for Mike Krack, Alunni Bravi and Andreas Seidl and James Vowles are fluent too. Only Kamatsu and Stella don't speak french. Tozt and Steiner speak french too amongst the former team principals. I know most don't care but I think it's great
People were trying to rip bottas from his seat and he was never this bad. He had terrible races but rarely streaks of terrible performances. Almost always top 3 with max and Lewis or vettel and Lewis. Where is this leeway for Perez coming from. Bottas was 20 seconds behind Lewis but still P2. Perez isn't even in podium contention lately. Same thing happened last year.
As has been said by various commentators, (ie not my words) the spread of times from p1 to p20 (errr, maybe p19 😬) has never been tighter. The last race p1 vs p2 was recorded as 0.000. Several races this season p1-3 maybe even p4 has been less than 0.030s . Verstappen to Perez being 0.3s in previous formulas would be first and second or third, now that’s 9th. We all love to see a good quality, but it doesn’t matter, only the result on race day. So long as Perez doesn’t Ocon his team mate into the barrier mid corner it doesn’t matter what he does.
I think Logan says for more races. James Vowels is all about stability, and I feel like a driver change right now would put whoever comes next in a bar spot
The Williams was shockingly bad, you can see it lose grip throughout the lap. 3 tenths off Albon has been his normal gap all season. But the Williams was definitely the worst car in qualifying

The tow that Verstappen had off of Perez was minimal at best, he was a long way back. Norris was a lot closer albeit he didn’t have a long tow but the damage was done and the advantage was gotten by Norris overall. Go look at the onboard video if you doubt me. As for the race I can definitely see Verstappen and Norris (whomever is ahead) giving the other a tow to keep them ahead of Mercedes.

I watched a comparison between Lando and maxs laps, max was up around 1 tenth going into turn 1. Lando more or less was 1.2 tenths quicker over the lap.
Getting a tow dow the entire straight and getting a tow catching someone finishing a lap, its COMPLETELY different. I feel if it was a Ferrari that did what lando did.. we would have heard how fast it was, if it was Charles then we might have heard best driver in the world
Just a bit of a theory with the VCARB upgrades Spain is largely a track reliant on front downforce, yet the front wing is one of the only parts VCARB didn’t upgrade. Are these upgrades being made for Austria (the senior team’s home race), and being brought early to get more data on them, or even to get data for some potential Red Bull upgrades? Sidenote, loving life today as a Lando fan. I know Max will ruin it tomorrow, but enjoying the glory while I can

2:29 - Logan's car is much worse then Albon's. Albon got an upgraded floor in Imola that helped fix the problem of the car being overweight. Sergeant still has the A spec floor. Albon also got an upgraded rear wing from Monaco onwards, Logan still has the A spec wing. There are other upgrades that are only on Albon's car. I understand not thinking that Logan is good enough for F1, but don't pretend that he has the same machinery as his teammate.

An interesting fact that I saw in the telemetry: At the end of the main straight Verstappen was the fastest reaching 330 km/h, vs Norris 324 km/h, vs Hamilton 328 km/h. Now in the slow corner Verstappen 104 km/h vs Norris 118 km/h vs Hamilton 119 km/h. In short, the Red Bull is slower in the corners than McLaren and Mercedes, but faster on the straights.
That is what you want in a F1 car there isn't much passing in corners so top speed matters. Also the RB is faster in straights because of better traction coming out of corner.
It’s clear the McLaren is the best car since some races already, it suits all tracks! The RB is getting more difficult to set up and handle, just look at Perez struggling!

They definitely brought some to Spain. Think it was side pod inlets and parts around the side pods. Also something around the bottom of the rear wing diffuser.

Max's set up is clearly race oriented, he is the only driver that was able to take the T9 with 100% throttle... he is going to fly tomorrow

I watched a comparison between Lando and maxs laps, max was up around 1 tenth going into turn 1. Lando more or less was 1.2 tenths quicker over the lap.

Just a bit of a theory with the VCARB upgrades
Spain is largely a track reliant on front downforce, yet the front wing is one of the only parts VCARB didn’t upgrade. Are these upgrades being made for Austria (the senior team’s home race), and being brought early to get more data on them, or even to get data for some potential Red Bull upgrades?
Sidenote, loving life today as a Lando fan. I know Max will ruin it tomorrow, but enjoying the glory while I can
looking at how the last couple of races went i cant wait for WC battle between Lando Leclerc and Max ignite, , as mclaren is looking very good with Lando , and Max is out performing the car looking at his teammate so i think Lecler and Lando will get some great opportunity's in the rest of the season to close the gap
2:29 - Logan's car is much worse then Albon's. Albon got an upgraded floor in Imola that helped fix the problem of the car being overweight. Sergeant still has the A spec floor. Albon also got an upgraded rear wing from Monaco onwards, Logan still has the A spec wing. There are other upgrades that are only on Albon's car.
I understand not thinking that Logan is good enough for F1, but don't pretend that he has the same machinery as his teammate.

actually, F1 posted a video graphic of Lando and Max side by side, and max was slower by quite a bit in a lot of places, so I'd say that it's pretty much up in the air for the race and who is quicker !

I’m in complete delulu mode but I really think championship back on. I just have a feeling something will happen at silverstone. Lando is going to be gagging for the win and max isn’t just going to let him pass. I’ve got a feeling there will be tension and then both drivers will get tilted. I’ve just got a hunch the second half of this season is going to be so exciting

An interesting fact that I saw in the telemetry: At the end of the main straight Verstappen was the fastest reaching 330 km/h, vs Norris 324 km/h, vs Hamilton 328 km/h. Now in the slow corner Verstappen 104 km/h vs Norris 118 km/h vs Hamilton 119 km/h. In short, the Red Bull is slower in the corners than McLaren and Mercedes, but faster on the straights.
That is what you want in a F1 car there isn't much passing in corners so top speed matters. Also the RB is faster in straights because of better traction coming out of corner.

Has Red Bull proper brought any upgrades to their car this year? I haven't heard anyone, either on the TV broadcast or internet say anything about any upgrades for them.
They definitely brought some to Spain. Think it was side pod inlets and parts around the side pods. Also something around the bottom of the rear wing diffuser.
