Thanks Chuck Norris. I enjoyed this video. 👍
LOL, the older I get the more I hear that. A good compliment but not sure I am as that tough.
I was gonna say the same thing 😀 Chuck Norris
I was about to say Chuck Norris as well, then saw your comment!
Thank you mate.
Nice to see it in action
Great video, thanks. Seeing the cast reminds me of breaking both my wrists on the 2nd day of vacation, six weeks, and had to have repaired twice. I'm 75 now. Good luck.
Oh No! Hope it did not ruin your vacation Stanley. I had to go back and get an operation as well. The wrist did not set correctly. Probably my fault for being a little to active with it.
Great video. Thanks. By the way… the door is designed to stay down when cooking and you can keep feeding longer sticks into it as the ends burn off. The unburned ends will rest on the open door until you push them farther and farther into the stove.
Thanks for the tips!
That’s a myth.
@@notimeforjokes.3570 Well, that is exactly how mine works best.
glad you are doing all these tests for me - I looked at some of these stoves and WOW the prices are tremendously high for some - i think ill try this one out ... thanks again Dan E Outdoors
My Pleasure. I have several other stoves and need to review them as well but I always end up using this one.
Doing all of that with a broken arm. You're an inspiration!!
Hi Justin, Thank God it is all healed. Now just trying to get all the movement back. Thanks for watching
@@DansEverythingOutdoors amen brother
Enjoyed this video. I love outdoor stoves. ♥️
Me too. I have more stoves that I really need to do a video on. Thanks for watching and commenting Kathy's_folly
Thanks! I ordered one. Was thinking perfect for wet conditions, easier to start and less smoke than a campfire.
For sure. I use mine a lot more than I ever thought I would. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Looked yummy and efficient. Have fun stay safe.
Thanks Kenneth. Cooked this same meal just last week down in Tennessee. Soaking the potatoes in water for awhile and then draining and drying helped them cook faster and got more crisp.
you can use paper clips to hold the grate in place
Thanks for sharing my friend. I ordered two of them this morning and ur video helped me make the decision. I just subbed to ur channel 👌🏻👏🏻from Denver Colorado
Thanks for the sub! Did you order the same size or the next one up?
@@DansEverythingOutdoors yes Sir I ordered two of them I can’t wait to try them out soon
Great video, thanks for the great review. I’ve just received mine this afternoon but not yet assembled it . I have to take all that blue covering off mine by the looks of things and then try it out.
Thanks again for a great video.
Wow. I can't believe they are still shipping with the blue wrap. I had heard from some people that they stopped doing that. Thanks for commenting Wayne. Hope you enjoy it as much I enjoy mine. I just used mine again this weekend while camping.
@@DansEverythingOutdoors, yes Dan, I had the blue wrapping on mine. This was a pain to get off. I actually like this little stove and how great is it to cook various dishes on it. Thanks for the reply 👍.
Those handles on the stove fit in the gate handles on top I saw in two two other reviews and it need risers for air flow between the top and the bottom of of a pan but make sure you get the Red camp version the others are not very well made and more dangerous likely.....
I must say. That looked mighty tasty! Aside from that, your pan may need to be seasoned a little better.
Thanks for the comment Will, I will have to look at what pan I used for this and see if I can season it better.
What is on the cotton ball to help it ignite?
Thank u. I like the stove and the saw very much. Where to buy it? I subscribed. U are real American.
Please do more videos.
Thank you. I purchased mine on Amazon. You can search for it on Amazon or just use the link in my description
Thanks
Cherry wood has pitch pockets. That is why it pops.
Thanks Ron. I though it may be something like that but was never for sure.
Is I just burnt the covering off
I ordered the large one haven't used it yet but it's heavy thinking about ordering the smaller one after your review. That breakfast looks awesome good. What knife you use to split the wood? I need one.
Thanks Michael. I think the size of this one is just big enough. The knife is a Schrade SCHF36M Frontier Full Tan.g Drop Point Fixed Blade Knife
Thank you so much I'm ordering that knife tonight 😁
I've got both the small one and the large one and neither have ever let me down. If you're using a pan or pot the small one will do anything you need. Really the only time I use the big one now is if I want to grill steaks for two because two steaks won't fit on the small one. The big one is also better for baking because it's easier to get bigger coals. Both are my most dependable stoves and I do use one or the other daily. They both fit easy in my saddlebags.
Hi new sub here
Thanks for subbing Lorenzo. I need to do more of these camp cook videos. Thinking of doing a mountain man breakfast in cast iron Dutch oven.
Nice video Dan. Do you see this as being too heavy for backpacking?
Yes, a bit too heavy for traditional backpacking. I would say good for a day hike. The bushbox series in titanium are lighter but you pay for it $$. The bushbox LF is a comparable size.
If you bring a square foot of heavy aluminum foil folded up; open it up and spread it under the stove you can protect the ground. The foil don' t weigh much.
@@donmoroz5502 Good Idea
I would have precooked the potatoes before I came out
What, you don't carry a multi tool with you?
ha ha. Most of the time, Yes.
Inoticed your bacon didn't spew out a gallon of snot and water like it does in the uk
FYI, they no longer put that blue stuff on the stove any more, according to the website.
I did hear that they started removing it before shipping. Did you buy one without all the blue stuff?
@@DansEverythingOutdoors Yep, got mine, the small one, right after Christmas, No blue film. And it sure is a neat little thing. Cant wait to break it in.
@@longrider42 Have fun with it
What size is that? Small or large?
That’s the small version but it’s a very nice size. The bigger one is huge
The smaller one. I would go bigger if car camping. stick with small for short hikes and bushcrafting
Chuck Norris 👍
OK, OK, I may be dressing like Chuck for Halloween! Thanks for watching and commenting Kidda74
I just got this stove...
The blue plastic was a NIGHTMARE..!!!
When I cook outdoors I just eat right out of the cast iron... It keeps my food hot while I eat and thier is less dishes to clean up being thier is no plate or bowl and I always cook in one skillet that way thier is no pots or extra pans... Lol
Feel free to check out my channel
Please subscribe if you like...!!!
Great Idea. I have done the same. Most times in the woods I am not carrying this heavy skillet. LOL
I made everything in this 8inch cast iron and ate it all out of the skillet ..lol
