Once I master the opening and closing I will definitely be moving it to the back of the Jeep. Still working on my Dad to buy me the batwing compact! Lol
We have been looking at the Moonshade awning. We have a 2dr JK but want to stay away from a roof rack. We saw a few ideas at MOORE last weekend. Thanks for sharing this video. We love our 2dr JK, We have 99K on her and she is going strong. Keep up the good work.
Wanted to hit up MOORE so bad but it wasn’t in the cards for me! Hoping next year. Love my awning it’s come in handy for that light drizzle that doesn’t stop. I have a feeling it’ll get used most come fishing season
I’ll put it on the list of videos for more use of the awning. I’ve moved the awning off the back of the Jeep now also. I don’t regret not going bigger. I absolutely love it and we open all the time to use as sunshade more than the drizzle.
Awning has some small moldy spots but that’s owner operated error! Lol nothing a good cleaning won’t cure other than that no holes, rips or tears! Still sets up in no time at all and tear down is easy! Still loving it!!
Nice hack using clamps on the tube rack. I needa do the same on mine. How the heck did u drill through that bracket? It took me hrs to drill through the existing wholes 3/8 of an inch wide. Havent even started hole no. 2.
You guys made me laugh but the darn directions made myself and 2 others pissed. Thank you for the great idea with the 2inch exhaust clamp but go a little slower and you guys will be a ten, that's not a bad thing.
One more thing and please don’t take this the wrong way. I’m only pointing this out out of concern but have you thought about painting the exhaust clamp so that it doesn’t rust? Would hate to see rust stains running down the side of you Jeep later on down the road. What I would do is first hit it an etching primer and then finish it with either an enamel paint or rust oleum paint.
@@416Expedition that is awesome you pointed that out!! We forgot to mention that in the video. We could have bought stainless steel clamps too but we were flying blind on this install and wanted to make sure it would work. We planned on spraying them with black Rust-Oleum. Love that you caught that for our viewers . Thank you!! Great advice!
Anyone who is watching this video to learn how to install, don’t be discouraged. It’s WAY easier than these dingdongs make it look and It can all be set up by one person.
It can be set up with one person, it did take some practice but that’s what we are here for. Our mistakes should be learning lessons and if us ding dongs can do it, anyone can! So get out there and try something new!
That's also cause you are supposed to point it east to west. So you get the most shade. So it doesn't cast if off to the side. This looks like it was just a showcase video. So that wasn't an important part.
About to “steal” that exhaust clamp idea! Thank you
Your welcome! You steal away! Those round racks were difficult!
Unboxing and install is always a fun learning experience! The size matches well with the Jeep. 👍
Once I master the opening and closing I will definitely be moving it to the back of the Jeep. Still working on my Dad to buy me the batwing compact! Lol
Great idea on the exhaust clamp. Looks like it worked perfectly.
They do. We did use rust oleum paint and sprayed them down.
Nice! You're overland rig is coming along well. Keep it up!
Thank you!! I’m trying! I did let swear slip in this one lol! Wait until I do a cheers with Chas video, then we’re in for it!

This exactly what I was looking for to install my awning on my barricade rack.
Glad we could help!
I used that clamp as well in the Smitty version of this rack. Fourtreks also offers a 2" diameter awning bracket.
Awesome!! Every little bit of information helps! Thank you
Thank you ) what is your opinion after 3 years?
Still love it, my son just borrowed it for a trip and transferred it to his Toyota
@@lesstraveled4740 Thank you! Have you probably tested it under rain? Is it waterproof?
@@SignalSOS89 very waterproof! Not high wind proof
@@lesstraveled4740 Thank you, helped me a lot :)
Looking good! Loving the build!
Thank you!!! More to come. In fact just cracked a cold one taking a break and then installing the security drawer under the drivers seat!
@@lesstraveled4740 awesome!
Keep it up! Cheers!
That’s a must have !!!! Enjoy that guys 😊❤️👌
Thank you! It’s already come in handy on the last two trips!
15:15 "did you break it??" lol and your dad saying it just needs to be a bit bigger but that's a pretty sweet setup
Nope, didn’t break it!! That thing took a tumble too!
Great video and job...thank you
Can you show more video of you using the awning? Also, do you regret not getting the 6.6 x 8.2 awning instead?
I’ll put it on the list of videos for more use of the awning. I’ve moved the awning off the back of the Jeep now also. I don’t regret not going bigger. I absolutely love it and we open all the time to use as sunshade more than the drizzle.
So 2 years later, how is the awning? Would you recommend it?

@@lesstraveled4740 Awesome! Thank you guys!
@@restrada glad to help.
Nice video, I see one on a Vegas online auction. I may place a bid on it and see if I win.
Thanks we love it!

Used a drill bit made to be drilled through metal. Makes it go easier and lots of muscle. We love using the exhaust clamps.
Had to sharpen the bit 3 times each hole, so don’t be discouraged that is a hard bracket!!
You guys made me laugh but the darn directions made myself and 2 others pissed. Thank you for the great idea with the 2inch exhaust clamp but go a little slower and you guys will be a ten, that's not a bad thing.
Thank you lol all a learning process and if someone can take our mistakes to build on I have done my job! Glad you like it!
Why did you mount it on the right side of the car
My tent opens to the drivers side. Also this way if you pull off the side of the road it can still open if need be.
Good idea, only asked because most people I've seen mount it to the left thanks.
I could sooo use one of those !! Kool 🍁
Comes in real handy on those rainy fishing days!!! At least the last week that’s what it’s been used for!
Would you buy this again
Absolutely! I use it often for sunshade more than I have for rain!
Hallo my friend. Thanks for sharing. I need your help, please info dimention for awning? Thanks very much
4.6x6.6 there is a link in the description. Hope this helps.
Nice addition to your rig. What was the name of the awning?
It was Yescom from amazon. They have 3 different sizes and the bigger ones actually come in two colors. I’ll see if I can find a link.

Thank you I’m definitely going to need practice with putting it up and away by myself.
Looks like instead of making a video of how to install, you should first watch one 🤣.Or let the wife do it,she knows what she's doing.
Lol I’d love to think I know it all but again we are figuring out a lot of this together
Almost no shade at all..
Not much, works better to keep your gear dry in the rain!
That's also cause you are supposed to point it east to west. So you get the most shade. So it doesn't cast if off to the side. This looks like it was just a showcase video. So that wasn't an important part.
You need two people to set this up or you will bend/break something.
Once you get the hang of it, it can be done by one person. Just take your time and find the best way to make it work for your use.
Such bad quality
The awning isn’t as bad as I thought. For only spending $100 it’s actually perfect.
