My buddy just rented a 2019 Stumpjumper @ Mammoth the first day we rode and a 2019 Trek Slash 8 the second day. He was totally gungho on SJ's up to that trip and the minute we started riding day two, he wouldn't shut up about how much more he loved the Trek. He loved the build, the head angle, the 29in wheels, and the general overall feel. He loved how much further back he felt on the bike. I hope I didn’t make the wrong choice. I’d say I ride 50% singletrack and 50% light downhill. Did you have any positive thoughts about the Stumpy or you just thought the other bikes were leagues ahead in every way?

Blows me away. Of course I'm talking about Specialized S-Works Stumpie, SC Bronson, and Trek Remedy. I would have liked to see more of you guys riding along with your analysis but great video
Wish Kona would make a Process w/ 27.5 wheels and ~120 travel in carbon. My 111 is almost too stable, but still easy enough to throw around. If they could just drop a little weight and shorten the stays just a bit more it would be perfect.
Some of the complaints these guys have about the bikes are just a matter of setup. Yeah if the bike feels low in it's suspension, try volume spacers or higher shock PSI.... If the front end wanders, try dropping the stem.... If it feels too long, try a smaller size/adjust seat position. I've had my mountain bike for almost 2 months and I'm still moving headset spacers, changing shock pressure, etc. Bike keeps feeling better & better with each adjustment.
The remedy and the Bronson where on my short list. Went for the Bronson in the end. Strange you didn't talk about the rear end flex in the yeti? The specialized looks dated. The kona looks sick and if where to buy a 29r it's defo be one to consider
@@FLY1NF1SH how about it! I'm in Eastern PA and forget rock gardens, we've got rock trails...100 yards at a clip. There's steeps, rocks, roots, chutes, and meandering stuff from time to time.
Personally I have a stumpy as my trail bike and I blow through its travel like nothing it is a nice bike and all but the geometry doesn’t keep up with a lot of bikes I personally love how it handles but the travel is where it’s a letdown
If you're dropping $3k+ on a bike I would skip over trek, specialized AND Santa Cruz for that matter. Yeti, Pivot, and Ibis are all you really need to consider.
I'm considering buy a specialized enduro 27.5 Coil do you think Is a bad idea? It's price Is 8000 so what do you think? Sorry for my bad english but I'm spanish
Idk whats going on with some of the 29ers. A lot of flex in the head tube/fork. Thats super weird. The sc and the yet had very little. You can see that flex sends shock waves through the riders body when the camera is slowed down. But ya that was super weird. Im 6f2 and 29ers scrape my sak. So im out on all the 29ers.
Please tell me you're reviewing the Nukeproof Mega carbon 2019!!!!! Under £5000 with fantastic spec plus it's the bike of the enduro world champion, test and I GUARANTEE you will LOVE IT!
What is with all that wheel flex on the Kona at :48 and the Stumpy at :42? Seems the Bronson has none, is this because of a weak top tube? Seems scary. Anyway, comparing 27.5's to 29ers, not a real great comparison really. Why not compare the Hightower LT to the SB150 instead of the Bronson? That would be better.
Felt like that could have been at least 30mjns in footage in that. Maybe not that long but you get what I mean, was very interesting and then it finished.
When is someone going to run a test with the bikes completely anonymized?! The riders said numerous times that, “I’m pretty biased.” Title should read, “A Completely Biased Field Test.”
I mean at the end of the day it doesn't matter if they are biased. They like what they like. And even if I agree that finding a way to anonomyize it would be a theoretical improvement, it's impractical to say the least. Using these as starting points is a better idea anyway. Spend a couple days demoing bikes and figure out what you like
I agree that the SJ is a little bit on the conservative side for geo. Luckily they have the EVO and it's going carbon next year. It will outgun the Enduro for sure. I predict a new Enduro for 2020.
It wasn't even about being 'conservative' for me (as you can shred ANY of these bikes) - the SJ just feels cramped. It felt solid, but like riding on-top and over the front end, whereas the Trek Fuel & Remedy I tested felt way more dialed-in and balanced for the size. I think Trek's new bikes are super underrated, and would win many reviews if they eliminated the KB. The Slash is just an absolute Beast.
hummer694life I have the 27.5 version and I usually ride a medium, but I got a large and it’s about perfect just a little long but that’s how I like it. When you get those things set up good they can plow and smash through stuff and they jump really well
That was exactly what I thought when I first saw/read about the EVO. Or even worse, discontinue to Enduro. Sure enough, a brand new totally redesigned Enduro for 2020. My new prediction; next mid cycle refresh may dump the conservative geometry of the Stumpy and go with EVO geo across the line. The current regular stumpy geo trickles down to the new “Camber”.
MrSupermugen I’m checking back in one year later and it’s so cheap I’m getting a Nomad. I used it for DH and enduro things and I destroyed it. Frame bearings are shredded and destroyed.
Really nice comparison. Hearing about the riding tastes/trails of the three of you helps me understand which bike would be best for me. The surprises for me were the Kona, whose bikes have felt sort of leaden to me in the past, and the Remedy. But for this class I would really need to see you test the Orbea Rallon, Evil Offering, and Yeti SB130. All are up to date, and the last seems like it would better a better fit in this review group than the 150. Any chance these will be coming? Hoping Pinkbike can get over its apparent Evil shunning.
in my opinion, the stuntjumper looks the best, the the yeti and remedy are tied and the other two are just meh. i dont like how chunky the other two look. i know im a year late but i wanted my visuals opinion out there.

@@TFritz82 I also ride eastern PA, albeit on a hardtail, but that's until i can fork out 3 grand for a proper enduro bike :P
@@lacrosse4higher yep, I'm on a 130mm hardtail as well! Certainly makes things interesting!
what was the trek remedy? What one
How good is your videos I can see what it is like to have a bike like that because I can't afford one of those
Personally I have a stumpy as my trail bike and I blow through its travel like nothing it is a nice bike and all but the geometry doesn’t keep up with a lot of bikes I personally love how it handles but the travel is where it’s a letdown
Maybe I missed it, but you neglected to mention prices.
I would have loved it if this was a longer video that dissected the bikes a little more. But great video!
Can anyone pls tell a site where we can buy b’twin 540s frame
If you're dropping $3k+ on a bike I would skip over trek, specialized AND Santa Cruz for that matter. Yeti, Pivot, and Ibis are all you really need to consider.
I'm considering buy a specialized enduro 27.5 Coil do you think Is a bad idea? It's price Is 8000 so what do you think?
Sorry for my bad english but I'm spanish
Tbh Imma go with either the Bronson or the Remedy
I went Bronson.
Go Remedy.
So looks like the point is to see which bike can fling the most dirt.
So im out on all the 29ers.
mjs1231 “scrape my sak” lmao. Im not a fan of 29ers in this category either. Love my new Bronson.
Good job guys!
This video just change my mind about about buying the giant trance, i'll buy the remedy instead
Intro song name???
Felt like that could have been at least 30mjns in footage in that. Maybe not that long but you get what I mean, was very interesting and then it finished.
Wish this was longer
Love this series and look forward to more!
The stumpjumper is the best!!
vic lagina420 no it isn’t better stumpjumper is the best
really send that Pos then check that frame ;)
MrSupermugen I’m checking back in one year later and it’s so cheap I’m getting a Nomad. I used it for DH and enduro things and I destroyed it. Frame bearings are shredded and destroyed.
vic lagina420 you are 100% right it’s been a year and my stumpjumper is so crappy and cheap
Rallon is no where near this class, it's a full on race bike (and they did do a review on it already on their website, if I recall)
in my opinion, the stuntjumper looks the best, the the yeti and remedy are tied and the other two are just meh. i dont like how chunky the other two look. i know im a year late but i wanted my visuals opinion out there.
Love all your vids!!!🤟
What about Giant Trance?
th-cam.com/video/Fpva_uxuYBg/w-d-xo.html
The stump jumper evo would have been more comparable to those other 2 bikes
My left ear enjoyed the intro
Not a bad list. I'll stick with my Knolly Endorphin tho.
Whoa, Leavy has no idea what WNC trails are like I see.
Why every review about the SB150 misses the massive downfall with the rear tyre sizing?
Can fit up to 2.6, we didn't see a scenario to use a bike like this with anything bigger.
@@pinkbike did you try it? My friend has a 2.4 Minion in his and under hard pedaling it rubs and yeti only recommends up to 2.5" ?
As much as I hate Big bike companies, that Trek does something for me.
Willem Moseley I used to think the same thing but I have friends who work at trek retailers and the reality is that they treat employees and local shops really well. I've always been impressed with their engineering and designs also
Trek has the weakest frames
@@sethmountainbikes8795 surely your mistaking that comment for s-works or norco for sure. people have had issues with thier enduro frames something wicked.
Yeti SB 150 is light enduro?! It exceeds the Scott Ransom which has 175mm on the rear (in terms of suspension performance).
I think as far as yeti goes, sb140 would have made way more sense for this comparison
No intense Tracer...?
Love these reviews; more like this please!
My favorite MTB for a ride is S-WORKS Stumperjumper and Trek Bronson cuz i'm comfortable when i ride it on.
*stumpjumper the best!*
