Most confidence inspiring bike of 2018. Carved through the corners, smashes the down hills and still climbs surprisingly well. Descents don't get any better than on the SB150
When I demo’d the Sb150 I was anticipating feeling it’s “long and slack” geometry. Much to my surprise, not only did it NOT feel it’s size, this bike made me feel like I could do anything. Pedals incredibly efficient and descends like a bat out of hell. Love it 🤘🏼
Ended up getting the sb150 instead of the sb130 LR. Honestly, I am really happy. It is efficient enough I can still plow through some miles and climbs. And once I get downhill I am confident to just grow exploring my limits for years to come.. also, because the yeti seems to demand an active riding stance it is almost helping show me what works and doesn't work, making me a better rider.

Wow, I got to ride the 150 in Moab and I thought it was one of the best cornering, confident bikes I've ever ridden. If i was forced to complain about something it would be that its big, and felt a bit heavy. The only bike i've ever ridden that i couldn't find big enough extra credit.
Loving all the new bibles! Would be interesting to see the same reviews on bikes under the $3k or even $2k margin which could benefit new/beginner riders who have a lower budget! Keep up the great work you guys! Hope my idea comes across the drawing board:)
Gotta say.... that bike must have blow all of your socks off to then after the ride & review video to sport all 3 of you wearing flip flops in the desert talking about the bike afterwards! Hahah love it!
I get feeling that the bible testers like long and slack, but to a point (see mondraker foxy review for example). Having watched a few of these 2019 reviews and all of the other years reviews going back quite a few, it seems that US and European reviewers have a very different opinion on what is long and slack. Evil, Specialized, Ibis all mentioned as 'long' but I personally have had to size up when riding. For future, it would be great to get a properly long European bike. Pole, Nicolai, Cotic (new geo) Stanton do just this. The Yeti I would have to size up to an XL to get similar numbers to my L Nicolai G15 and something that isn't properly tested, but suggested is the speed gained from these new breed of bikes with long low and slack numbers. Throw in a curve ball every so often. You did with the 26" Evil and were blown away :)

Mike, my son is looking for new iron this year mostly at Big Sky with a season pass the last 2 years, but also the occasional enduro race. On the SC Nomad last 2 years with Stan's Flow ex wheel set. Looking at SB150, Megatower, Transition Sentinel. Anything else he should look at? Trek Slash?
Sooooo $7600 for top build and the stem is race face affect and no carbon wheels and no matching Kashima dropper? Cmon now yeti!!! But honest question BikeMag this or Evil Wreckoning?
Depends if you're down with the new geometry. I had a 5.5 but sold it because the reach was so short for me even on an XL. Cockpit felt crammed. Now the sb150 will give me more travel, climb the same, and provide more cockpit room
The bike is solid and my Ebike conversion went great. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Very smooth ride at 30mph with no problems (135 miles ridden so far). The picture is a bit deceiving - there is WAY less space in the center of the frame than it shows. The suspension connection takes up the entire thing. So I needed to attach my battery on the bottom of the frame and my controller on the top. Instructions for assembly were lacking but honestly it wasn't too hard to figure out even though I have very little bike knowledge. Watched some youtube videos on adjusting the disk brakes but that was it. Still, I am loving it and very happy with the purchase.
This is the only SB150 review where anyone has said it is a good climber, and even then it was an afterthought at the end. Not sure I'm buying it.. need to try one I suppose.
Yes, the trend appears to be making bikes more downhill orientated, I used to have a 2010 trance x2 which was a 120mm (up front) trail bike, now the trance is a 150mm (up front) trail bike, its now only 10mm shy of their enduro bike (the reign) but the problem is when they keep chasing downhill performance the uphill performance suffers, there is now a big gap (50mm up front) between their XC bike (the anthem) and their trail bike (the trance)
Finally, a review where there actual negative comments. I am hearing from a few reviewers this bike sucks at the slow technical riding and slow tech climbs. Plus, that down tube, in front of the BB, is way out there just asking for rock contact. On the east coast, where I am, the bike has to do everything well, shuttle to the downs.
@@dalelakusta8143 every bike CAN climb. What I am saying is that this is the only review of the 150 I've seen where they didn't harp on it's poor climbing. This is a shuttle bike. That's ok, but call a spade a spade.
@@themarccox in these reviews they don't seem to target the negatives as much as some reviews. Yes this 150 is not a great climbing bike no matter how you spin it, it can't be. Also in other reviews they didn't seem to target areas that I would call out. The brakes in particular is one area that kind of drives me crazy when you buy a new bike. First on my ripmo I need to go to 203's, all big bikes should come with them standard. Next the brakes themselves are usually under specced and need an immediate upgrade. If you go with sram brakes I would go straight to mostly top of the line for safety. I am extremely happy with my 4-pot XT's though. In general I hate buying a new bike after spending 7.5k and finding out you need to put money into it right away to have it usable.
Bike Magazine hi guys do you think Mike dropping to a medium size would have improved his SB 150 experience? I’m 5’10”” and can’t decide between Large and Medium. Bike shop advises large but I’m not so sure.

Yep when you stretch the front of bikes out to be the 'new' geometry it requires you get your weight forward. Flash forward 2022 and bikes go back to more neutral geometry. Why is it downhill bikes aren't stupid long but we want trail/enduro mountain bikes to be?
Its all about the money, they want people to keep buying bikes, and they way to do that is to keep changing the geometry, this years bike is half a degree slacker and 5mm lower, and so and so on, but they will eventually reach the limit of how slack and how low a bike can be before it basically becomes useless as anything except a downhill bike, then they'll have to start moving back in the opposite direction again.
Shortchanging a bike means not having carbon wheels nowadays? Yeesh.. I mean carbon frames are one thing, but the price tag of carbon wheels is still not justifiable in my mind.
If you know what you want on a mnt bike your gonna spend $8000. If you spend less your cutting corners. Sad but true. Your dream bike will cost $10000 in 2019.
John DeF 2 year old bikes are still amazing and you can upgrade components to update them, but most people who ride nice bikes are still riding them after 2 years so finding a high end 2 year old bike can be challenging, so if bikes get 3-5% better each year people will be looking to upgrade after 5 years cause bikes will be 20% better. Also any bike you spend $8000 on will still be a great bike in five years, hence if you know exactly what you want in a bike your looking at 8-10 grand.

The 150 is definitely a race bike. I demoed it right after it was released and I can’t stop thinking about it.

it's not a good climber, but you can climb with it. A good climber is a xc bike.

Downhill bike need to jump, but the Trail bike can be use for flowy single track and can be longer

I would never spend that much on a mountain bike. Its a joke. You can get a new bike a couple of years old for about 1/3 of retail if you look.
