  • Truly a one of a kind omakase experience, captured semi-first POV style! I dropped by Torien, sister restaurant of one Michelin-starred Torishiki, to experience a taste of Chef Yoshiteru Ikegawa's thoughtfully curated sixteen course yakitori omakase menu, and got to try seven of his most recommended skewers.

    It was so incredible being able to learn from Chef Yoshiteru Ikegawa himself, and to be given the opportunity to capture this front seat experience! Thank you once again to him and the Torien team. As you can probably tell, I was in awe the entire time... and to think this is just a glimpse of the full course experience!!

The atmosphere in this video is homey and relaxing and I enjoy it. Though it would be nice if you add some comentary at the end to just sum it up and probably some more insight from the restaurant. Dining in a good place is not only about the way the food tastes or it is presented. it is also about the experience of dining and knowing the story behind each and every item. when you go to everyday restaurants, it's mostly judged for the taste of their food. once the price goes up. people, not only want great taste but also a great experience that comes along with it. it becomes emotional and you want the experience to be memorable because that's what your paying the extra for after all. love the video. hopefully... someday I get to have the same experience...

    Is no one going to comment that we finally get to see Alvin eating in this series? Like the past episodes, we see him filming and we see a picture on the cover of him eating but we never got to see him eating in the video. Now it finally happened!!

    this is just bar/street food but they were able to make it into an exquisite meal. i swear if the japanese had invented breakfast cereal, we would have cereal artisans serving fine dining cocoa puffs 🤣

    5:06 - we always recommend that the first bite, no seasoning...
    Next skewer: 7:01 - drowns yakitori in lemon juice without first taking a bite.
    Also: 7:23 - why are you putting sauce on your grated daikon? It's supposed to be bland/fresh as a palate cleanser.

    The video is great! The food though...pretty overpriced for some grilled chicken. They've got 300yen (~$3) yakitoris in Japan which taste great as well, so 16 skewers would be around $50. So does this place make it three times tastier?

    • @thoughtsofaleo2916
      @thoughtsofaleo2916 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      From the sounds of it, yes it is that tasty. But I’m also thinking it’s because of the omakase nature of the menu, which usually brings up the price, plus they’re in New York too, which surely also brings up the price.
