    If it wasn't for the exorbitant price and shady history with Jake's marketing, I'd love to have one of these.

    I had a Hoback Radford and i had it for about 5 months until the real country of origin was exposed so i contacted the dealer i bought it from (Lamnia) and they were happy to get me a full refund. I have nothing against knives made in China, WE and Reate makes some of the best blades on the market but i'm not going to support someone that lied about where it's actually made.

    Thanks, MC. I'd like to own both this knife and even more the Summit. If I could get over 'the incident' ... okay, maybe, but combined with the price point? Agree completely with your review.

    It's weird you put out this video right now. I was just looking at buying one of these and it will probably be the next knife I buy. I am only 6-7 months into my knife collecting journey so I wasn't around for the Hoback debacle. The guy apologized and I want one. That's enough for me.

    Nitro-v doesn't scream premium to me either but if this Nitro-v is ht'd very well, like custom ht'd to 63rc with close attention paid during the whole ht process well. Then this blade would outperform all production m390. Not saying it is but if it was I'd be OK with Nitro-v

    Setting aside all of Hoback's dishonesty for a moment, I have no problem with were the knives are being manufactured. I love knives from China, they constitute nearly every knife in my modest collection. The Husky was a knife I immediately became interested in when I first saw it. I loved the look and the size. That 1/4" spine looked like a blade you could stab through a trash dumpster. Being 6'5" with large hands I was immediately drawn to it because I desired a lager folder. However, the cost is simply unjustifiable considering all the variables. For that amount everything on the knife needs to be close to perfect IMO. I think its true value is around 3 bills.

    One of my favorite US designers/makers. Still need to get a few more of his knives. Atm, I have the Paraclete, OSF, and Kwaiback agency arms edition, brous/hoback Kwaiback, and a warhorse. Kwaiback was what turned me on to his designs.

    Blows My mind that people would pay that much for that knife, being that it is made in China, you can see why they tried to hide that fact, cant see them selling many but at that price they probably dont have to sell that many to make out with a solid profit anyway.

    Tiny stamped clip that looks out of place, Nitro-V, and at that price? Gonna be a fat NO from me dog. Controversy aside, I’m willing to let that go since it’s been fixed and he apologized, but sheesh… he needs to adjust the price accordingly.

  • @GLOCKsh00ter24
    @GLOCKsh00ter24 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    That price is ridiculous. I would price that knife at $575 if I was trying to get people to believe it is made in the USA, but I can't see why someone would do something like that. 🤔. As an aside, what knife made that cut in your background material?

    Pretty sure these used to be made in the US. The older ones had a different pivot and what not. I’ve been talking about a few companies making very importish looking knives. I prefer knives from Chinese makers for the most part. Their designs speak to me. But I’ll never drop nearly $600 on a knife claiming to be made in the US when it’s made in China. That price point is ridiculous given this knife and materials used.

    Yea, if I payed top dollar for something that SAYS made in USA and find out its made overseas....I'd be PISSED! 100% positive I will NOT buy because of that shady aspect....second reason is due to the Bible scripture on it....nothing against religion, but don't think it should be forced on people. I think hoback would sell a lot more if the scripture wasn't on it, AND if they were transparent about origin :)

  • @CKshouta
    @CKshouta 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Aside from the country of origin controversy (which is very serious, I would not consider this brand anymore for this offense) it should have much better geometry and edge grind for $575. I think even my Benchmade 7505 (which is the most ridiculous tank Benchmade ever made, with thick BTE, high carbide steel and that familiar Benchmade coarse unsharp factory edge) arrived sharper than this Hoback. This is sad.

  • @SMS2884
    @SMS2884 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    People need to stop complaining about the country of origin. It's an amazing knife. When I heard about the controversy I was like so what? Is it well built? Yep. You could set a lot of knives side by side and not a single person would care where it was made. It's how good is it made.

    • @Magoot2456
      @Magoot2456 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      It's not complaining about the country of origin, its the fact that they LIED about the origin! Its no secret that you pay more for USA made items, rightfully so. Being that USA made knives are better quality, better qc, better material, so on. And saying the side by side comment is just ridiculous. That may be true to non-knife people, but when it comes to knife collectors, that statement is the furthest from the truth! a lot of collectors will only buy USA made knives, and I am one of them. I like supporting our hard working knife makers :)

    • @MrBowser2012
      @MrBowser2012 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      People like myself will pay more for a US made knife of equal quality than a Chinese knife. It’s not that it’s made in China, it’s that they lied about it being made in USA and charged a premium for it. It may be a superb knife. I would never support this company for their sliminess.

    • @SMS2884
      @SMS2884 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Magoot2456 But if you were given 2 knives of unknown origin you wouldn't be able to tell if it was made in the US or not. That's my point.

    I'm all about giving Hoback a second chance. He's a knife guy like we are. Yea, he lied but who doesnt mess up once in a while. Let's be honest China makes great knives. If you say otherwise you're ignorant and dumb. However, these are way overpriced. Do we know who the OEM is? That's a $350 knife, not a $575 knife! I don't see how this knife is a few bucks less than the Summitt...
