The Souvenir has a great direction, great performances, making it an honest and quietly powerful relationship drama. One of the year's best so far. Cole: 9.5/10 Justin: 9.5/10

Best cinematography of the year by far. A little too chilly and restrained for my tastes, which limits any emotional undercurrent, but still an incredibly well-made film. It's worth seeing for the craft alone.
I was hoping the story of the movie that the lead girl was making would evolve with her journey throughout the film. But they never focus on that. There was very little substance to hold a 2 hour long movie. The technical aspects were definitely amazing. But I will surely not remember a bit of the movie a day after.
Finally caught this one, and this needs to be said: As I've grown as a film viewer, taking in many different varieties of film, there are very few movies I'd be willing to call boring or "pretentious" nowadays... This movie was a FUCKING BORE. I can't remember the last time I checked my watch so many times in a movie. I wanted to love it, but almost nothing happens which would be fine if I gave a shit about anyone... which I didn't.
I thought of it as a series of memories. One critic described it as random pages torn out of a diary. I don't think its trying to be super artsy. Towards the beginning her friends were explaining that movies primarily are made to express a feeling. This movie nails that.

Meh it wasn’t bad but Unrelated and Archipelago were better films from this director imo.
This move is trying to be something it's not, its attempt at producing thought provoking art fails miserably, a very boring movie
