This level crossing is located on the Pakenham line, adjacent to Pakenham Station, which sees suburban EMUs, as well as regional DMUs. As of the time of publishing, work is underway and nearing completion on grade separation at this level crossing, along with 2 other level crossings nearby, being McGregor Rd and Racecourse Rd, Pakenham; and a new Pakenham station.
The crossing equipment includes:
- Westinghouse Incandescent Lights
- Westinghouse LED Lights (old and new style)
- McKenzie and Holland Incandescent Lights
- Westinghouse Crossbucks
- 1 General Signals Type 2 E-Bell, and 1 Type 3 E-Bell
- Western-Cullen Hayes Boom Gate mechanisms
- 2 Unmarked Bases, 1 Concrete Base, and 1 VR Base
As of publishing, this crossing has been listed as one of the level crossings to be removed by the Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP), and is in the middle of grade seperation. Trains are set to run overhead in an elevated rail corridor over McGregor Rd, Main St, and Racecourse Rd. This project includes a new Pakenham Station, and a short electrification extension to a newly built Pakenham East Station. This is planned to be finished by this year (2024).

man, i was gonna go here but then i realised that it was too late because i went to progress st in dandenong south and there were no trains and i remembered that there were removals at pakenham😂

Same thing happened to me, I was planning to visit Melba Ave in Lilydale, but turns out it got closed off so I didn’t get to film it
Only footage of it that I have is a phone recording which I put up on my other channel because it’s not really great

I don’t really have an exact date other than this year (2024), but the station looks like it’s still in the middle of being built, although the rail viaducts seem practically done, other than a bit of electrical wiring.
