Brendan Grace on the unique turns of phrase used by Irish mothers when dealing with their children.
Christmas is a special time for mothers and their families, remembers Brendan Grace,
She’s lovey-dovey and all that. But what about the other three hundred and sixty-four days?
Not everyone may be aware that mothers also have unique vocal talents,
Every mother is a ventriloquist. She could speak to you without moving her lips.
Mothers also prepare children for all the confusing situations they might encounter in life, regularly issuing statements such as
Come over here and don’t move.
This episode of The Late Late Show was broadcast on 20 December 1991. The presenter is Gay Byrne.

Some people might be shocked at the idea of Irish mammies actually doing or saying half the stuff in this. Just be thankful he didn't once mention what Irish daddies would do to ya! xD
