- Aquastar was founded in 1962 in the city of Geneva in Switzerland by Mr. Frédéric Robert. Mr. Robert, a diver, a sailor, a pilot, a mathematician and a watchmaker took over the brand JeanRichard from his father and soon changed the name JeanRichard to Aquastar to reflect the idea behind his venture, that is to create professional grade instruments for divers and aquatic activities.
Within ten years of its foundation and with the help of the genius Marc Jasinski, Aquastar had been awarded numerous patents, based on each patent a new Aquastar family member was born. The inner rotating bezel in the model 63, the multiple dive decompression bezel in the Deepstar, the Benthos and the Regate counter. the new crown sealing system and the friction bezel ring, both were incorporated in every Aquastar and finally the regatta counter watches.
Today, the man who brought Doxa to the masses, Rick Marei, is taking the brand mainstream. Can he have a similar success with Aquastar that he did with Doxa?

Thank you for watching!
Excellent movement choice i hope to see more brands incorporate the la joux perret
Marc, you have to own the blue Aquastar Deepstar ll. It looks amazing on your wrist and is your color. Not to mention the science and engineering behind it that is screaming you. Absolutely a stunning watch! 🐶😊
Thanks Brande!
Those are some stunning watches with interesting historical connections. I like the dimensions as well! Well done 🥃
Thank you kindly!
I’m fairly new to watches so always enjoy learning about a brand I didn’t know about before. Thanks for the great reviews!
Very cool! A little pricey for me though. Thanks for sharing them Marc. Have a great evening!
Deepstar II got to be one of the best looking watches I've ever seen....oh my days !
So glad watch sizes are coming back to reality. Now, if we can kill off the 24 hr. dial and replace with quartz (VK 67) watch with the 12 hour totalizer or any quality tri-compax mechanical/auto but man those are real spendy . Great vid Marc! Thank you !
Masterpiece
yup!
I got a blue deepstar two and it’s pretty but the dimensions are just perfect
Hey Mark, do you offer the aquastar with the bracelet? I like it on the rice beads bracelet
Great informative video. I am just starting to get into watches. The Doxa watch case reminds me of the Seiko 62MAS. Did Seiko copy the Doxa case?
Gorgeous watches!
Agreed!
Love Aqustar! Definitely on my list, both the M60 and Deepstar II. Just wish they were 39mm. Still beautiful divers.
They are!
Wowwww no way, love Aquastar - verrry exciting ❤
thank you.
Very nice!
Love them , the sizes!!!🎉
pretty good!
I really like Aquastar but what's with the faux patina on every model. Why can't they do a few models without faux patina. Not everyone wants that look. At least Nivada does almost every model with a choice of faux patina or crisp white indices and I'm saying every model needs to have an option but dam do a few without faux patina. Yellow indicies just aren't my thing
Completely agree
It's a valid point. I guess its in keeping with the vintage vibe.
@@islandwatch I just think they would hit a wider audience with at least a couple options of no patina. It's still a vintage design. No matter what
Totally agree.
As a diver that bezel is awesome!!!!
yes!
I hope LJP motivates movement makers like sellita to increase their power reserve. Great looking watches
Long Island Watch is leveling up quickly.
trying!!!!
That Model60 bezel is my ideal - bi, slim, coin edged, stainless only and lume on the pip only.
Super sleek.
Not too small for smaller wrists and really beautiful piece.
thank you.
What do you think about the new ZRC’s?
Mark - I thought we had the same Monster until I noticed the winder was different, No knurling on mine
Mine's a Gen 2.
This look dope 👍👍👍
thank you
Darn it. Just ordered a sinn 104.
I have the Deepstar and I like it, but it's really too small and legibility is poor. 😢 It's pretty though.
as a rebreather diver, dive watches these days are for messing around on the surface in boats. They need to be rugged and sapphire because the marine surface environment is tough on gear. Use a Shearwater Teric under the surface - it will monitor multiple dives over days and weeks, out-gassing and oxygen load, and indicate when it's safe to fly. On the subject of diameter size, you will get some small magnification under water so ~40mm is fine for snorkelling etc. But you need the blast of a lit screen in poor conditions. Lume is for sub-bedroom duvets and sleepless nights.
Looks great overall but for the price that pressed clasp looks awful cheap.
Mark are you making any more of the orange spinnaker collabs you did on the wrist shot?
nope, sorry.
19mm lug width!
Total parts bin watch. Brushed case but polished bracelet? Then a brushed clasp. White date window but faux patina.
So glad they put the square steel keepers on that NATO strap so you can hit and catch them on everything and have them poke into your wrist. It’s also excellent if you’re diving inside a wreck, and want to catch your watch on a protruding piece of metal, and get held under the water until you die.
Orange mode best watch ? it could be a good idea for your next video 😉
Thanks for the idea!
heimdallr monster is much better than the seiko
You should be Dutch. We are always in orange mode.
Lately, yeah!

Too small for a dive watch.
People in the 1960's would disagree with you.
@@heiner71 it’s 2023 not the 1960’s.
@@heiner71 and I grew up in the 50’s and 60’s and thought they were too small then. We all have our opinions
The first Submariners were between 37mm and 38mm and were worn by Navy seals for 6 years. There's no rule a dive watch has to be a certain size. I swear most that say it's too small probably never wore a 37mm through 39mm case size. Because it's not small at all and most wear more like 40mm case sizes anyway
It depends who you are and what you want, I'd say.
