When I was younger and played this game for the first time (and then when I was subsequently obsessed with it) I never liked Shinobu that much. I think my love for Bad Girl overshadowed Shinobu, but I think now that I'm older, Shinobu has got to be one of the coolest fights in the game. The abandoned school house carries such a unique and ethereal beauty to it. And her movements are somewhat mesmerizing. Glad she came back for more screen time in later games. Just wish her segments in NMH2 were a little bit better designed.
Every time I hear this I picture someone or something rapidly approaching and the first two minutes are the characters talking about what they’re about to go up against, and they talk about it before it reaches a crescendo at 1:41, but after that they’re getting more and more confident before dealing with the threat at 2:14. Then after that they brawl.
the fight's pure bullshit until you essentially memorize it. if you want to get revenge on shinobu, come back to her in a sweet NG+ run. i killed her in 5 hits.
while yeah, Bad Girl did take me a few tries, Shinobu was like Jeane tier of difficulty to fight. Def one of the more satisfying bosses to beat once you get your shit down.
After seeing a Japanese youtuber stumble onto something similar, is that "Nooiise" in the song supposed to be a cicada?! With the song being "Season of the Samurai", I think they wanted have something like Japanese Cicada's in the song. But NMH likes to use English in its music. So the song composer literally looked up what sound Cicadas make in English. To which they found... "Noise", because English doesn't have a ton of Onomatopoeia like Japanese does, especially for Cicadas. But instead of realizing "Oh, English doesn't have a sound effect for Cicadas", they read that as "In English, Cicadas go 'NOOOIIISE'".
it's an audio sample saying "white noise". which is accurate because the sample itself is difficult to interpret otherwise unless you really pay attention, thus making it white noise. if i had to guess it's probably taken from some kinda dj dance track sample album. a lot of music composers use samples from sample albums.
I never heard the "nnooiisse" as words or even a digitized human voice. My mind is absolutely blown by the discovery AND the fun fact. By any chance if you get to see this comment, could you direct me to the TH-camr you're talking about? Thank you!
@@ekx5120 First Japanese youtuber that comes to mind that talked about this is Subaru: watch?v=xhkQifnBrYk The first reply's explanation definitely makes more sense, though. Especially after listening to other Japanese composers that love using samples.
Having beaten Shinobu on my first time, I feel like alot of the reason people think of her as such a difficult boss is that she's the first one that requires you to be careful when you go in for a hit, and so many people go swingly wildly at her, and getting their asses kicked. If you are careful, and wait for openings, and make sure to keep the dodge roll in mind, she is alot more bearable as a boss.
I just beat shinobu last night, and she KICKED THE EVER-LOVING FUCK OUT OF ME. To anyone who wants to get into the game, getting the tsubaki and doing all the training at the thunder ryu building is goddamn near mandatory for this fight.
Because the devs forgot to balance her multi hit attack for bitter's damage increase, so she gets a 2 frame start-up and split second tell on an attack that can take you from full hp to zero
@@marcievania You're actually supposed to cheese Shinobu in the same way as Jeane on Bitter since she actually cheats on Dark Steps. Charge attacks, basically.
Did a no upgrade of no more heroes 1 on bitter mode, motherfucking Shinobu took the most precise techniques and took around 20+ tries before i finally beat her. The popoff was great tho. Surprisingly, Bad Girl only took two tries on that same run Jeane took about 4-5 tries and Henry.... I haven't beat Henry yet. 300+ hits and i haven't even done a third of his health bar? No fuck that

@@tek3576 Shinobu and Kimmy were the only two characters Travis let live and it was only to kill them at a later date except shinobu who 1. didn't have a reason to want travis dead anymore 2. I know it was retconned but the reveal at the end of NMH1 kinda makes it so that they literally didn't have to be at eachothers throats at all. That being said Rivals are not a thing, you either live or you die, the only hard exception is Destroy man, but even he still technically dies everytime, even if he has a bad habit of coming back.

I think her segments aren’t so bad if you don’t finish the combos not as good as Travis or Henry but not terrible
