When I was a kid growing up in the 90's on the other side of the globe in a post soviet country, young people that ware into skateboarding listened to punk rock/grunge and rap/hip-hop. I grew up on band's and artists like Nirvana, Black Flag, REM, Iggy Pop, The Clash, Bad Brains, Mos Def, Common, Talib Qweli, Dilated Peoples, 2PAC, NWA, Cypres Hill, ONYX, Biohazard, The Roots. Most of the people I have ever known, who grew up in the 90's loved these artists. In my humble opinion Respiration by Blackstar is one of the best songs and best videos ever. I and many of people who grew inn the 90's liked the aforementioned artists because they ware uncompromising, rebellious, they spoke truth to power and did not bow down to anyone. They said what came from the heart in the most uncompromising passionate way. The music was real, honest it was a part of them, the good, the bed, the ugly that they shared with the world. It seamed like the 90' was a time when the rebels took over the industry and make the industry play by their roots. The mid 2000 changed the musical landscape. It became acceptable for musicians to complaisant and fake. They have nothing to say and stand for nothing. Just give them money, borrowed cars and chains and they will be happy.

Because they only know West Coast Rap (2Pac, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre + Ice Cube + Eazy E + NWA), the so-called Kings of New York (The Notorious B. I. G., 50 Cent, Nas and JAY-Z) and the worst rapper of all time (Eminem).

Mos "Yasiin Bey" is at a whole different level. Too intelligent to play the game. He's been rapping about the corruption in the industry 2-3 CD's ago. They tried to blackball him, but it looks like he's back stronger than ever and with his integrity well in tack. Just like our other Black intellects, Paul Robeson - Malcolm - James Baldwin, (Just to name a few), it will take some time to give him his props for how intelligent this brother truly is. He's been WOKE for a loooong time.

He’s not racist. He just has experiences unique to him and he voices those experiences to reach out to others who went through the same thing. He wants to comfort others and say “I feel you.
