- For the first time in almost 20 years, Cindy and I did not get to spend the first week of November in Las Vegas, Nevada, like we always do and to cover all the cool new parts, accessories, wheels and tires being made for the Jeep JL Wrangler and JT Gladiator. I am of course talking about the world famous SEMA Show and just like everything else in this crazy dumpster fire of a year, the show got cancelled. Fortunately, not all was lost and all thanks to Nitto as they decided to hold their 10th Annual JK-Experience on that week instead. And, as luck would have it, we were invited to join in on the fun! Presented by KMC Wheels, this awesome adventure would start in Las Cruces, New Mexico and take us all the way to Barstow, California almost 800 miles to the west and loosely following the original route of the very first JK-Experience.
In this first of a 3 part series, you'll get to see us put our Jeeps to the test in the canyons and mountains surrounding Las Cruces, New Mexico. In fact, our very first day would be a shakedown run up in the Robledo Mountains and in an area known as the Prehistoric Trackways. This is where big rocks and steep ledges can be found on trails such as Rocotillo Rapids and Habanero Falls. We hope you enjoy.

Went to college at NMSU and lived in Cruces for a while. So awesome to see you do some trails out there. Look into the Chile Challenge if you've never heard of it. It's an annual off road event in the Dona Ana area.

Just seen the new wrangler 392, I do like the bonnet as looks like my 78 and 79 series TDV8 landcruisers. I also like the figment of the high mounted alternator.

Havent heard of these trails for about 20-25 years now! that was my old stomping grounds when my YJ was brand new. I will say we attacked those lines much different on 33-35 inch tires and 95ish inch wheelbases

Its really cool that Nitto sponsors this stuff... but i'm sticking with my STT Pro's.
LOL - you can still attend an event like this even with STT Pros. We have in the past :)
I had the same issue with my LT1 6.2 in my JKU Robby gave me sheet to help getting rid of that. I put Dielectric grease on all points including the grounds and so far it has worked.
We had a different problem and Robbie was able to fix it.

LOL - even with 40's, the obstacles were a challenge. JK is still a great Jeep but I'd be lying if I said that I didn't love our JT too.

Damn, hell of a shake down run for sure. I doubt my JL would've survived. What happened with the guy that got "bit by a tree"? Were those cactus needles? I'm not too far being in El Paso and would like to check out some of the easier trails.
Yeah, cactus and El Paso is super close to these trails. Definitely worth giving them a look :)

I got a question Eddy,
Someone mention if the transmission or transfer case is on an incline you can hit a false neutral and roll backwards. Please explain a little bit more about the subject whether it's the transmission or transfer case Etc, and possibly putting an extra half quart of fluid in one of those components to help that issue.
The problem was with the transmission. At that angle and sitting there for a while, the transmission stops working. Slightly overfilling it can help in this situation.

LOL - actually, they're the same factory fenders that came on this Jeep back in 2007 only trimmed down. 😎

Did you develop a air leak in this video? I thought I heard compressor constantly runnin , towards end of the video? Great videos. I'm goin thru the archives lol
"Develop"? LOL - no, it's always been there. The most annoying thing about a Dynatrac ProRock 80 with an ARB locker is that it leaks from the inside at the o-ring. And, because of how you have to install it on a ProRock 80, it's a pain in the ass to replace. Not that it's makes a difference though. We've changed it twice and still have a leak. So LAME.
@@wayalife gotcha. Ya that sucks. That's only thing I don't like about the air , but mine so far has been good. But I don't have 1 tons
I run ARB's on most of my rigs and so far, I've only really had this leak problem on the ProRock 80. Of course, it's the hardest to work on too.

You had some electrical problems with the last Motech build. Have you found the Motech solution to be temperamental?
The problem we had this time around was totally different than the last one and really, one that could have been prevented. We'll show you what happened.
sounds like there's a leak in your ARB line somewhere... that compressor was just kicking on and off.
LOL - just mine? More like ALL the Jeeps on this trip running an ARB. It's the o-ring on the locker itself and we've had the problem for quite some time now. Very common on a ProRock 80.
Sorry for my ignorance, what are those compressor noises when some of you were climbing?
The axles have air lockers. They help provide traction. The lockers themselves are leaking air. This is not on purpose, just the seals are bad.

Yup. The ARB in our ProRock 80 always leaks from the seal inside the diff. Annoying as hell.

Had a1982 Toyota long bed 4x4 got through slippery rook on two wheels with the truck pointing straight up in the sky

I was told that the gladiator was getting the hemi next year and while I was getting the special transfer case fluid my 99 grand Cherokee
I found out the wrangler is getting the 6.4 hemi
The gladiator is is not getting anything new

@@wayalife yupper I have had my SD60 and 14B lockers redone with new seals twice. The awesome thing is ARB paid for it I was shocked and so was my shop.
