      @@waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900 I just bought a Western and read where to find the # but all I can make out is 400060176- - - it has 7 batteries. I know nothing about carts but willing to learn. Is there any way else to establish the year? I want new tires but? Thanks for any help you can give me

      tires is no biggie, only a few sizes.
      Can't tell without a picture, but you have a model 400 that's either 1990 or a 2000

    Thanks for adding information on the Westerns. We have a 48V 2002 that I just installed new batteries for. I also bought a 48V maintainer (2.5 max amps), a Schauer JAC0348. Which batteries do I connect the positive and negative to? Just opposite ends of the battery series + and -? TIA!

    That's fascinating. I bought a project Western cart that needs a lot of work, but it's a little older than that and has the old style copper stud throttle control.

    do you have a diagram for solenoid diagram?
    i put a new one in, positive i hooked it up right.
    cart just quit, so i checked throttle micro switch, it’s good.
    for some
    reason i have no power to ignition, i need to know what got and ground wires come
    from to ignition. 4 post ignition.
    there are no fuses in the cart at all except for two that go into,
    i think it is the 12
    volt
    step down? but they are good and has power there. i am stuck

      The only lube you need to do , is grease all the zert fittings on the axles and steering wheel, and spray all the pedal springs etc from top and underneath with wd40.

    Great info, my 97ezgo 36 volt no voltage to solenoid if I hot wire it cart runs fine any ideas

      @waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900  ปีที่แล้ว

      Obviously you are not getting voltage to the solenoid, from the delivery system.
      You need to start following the volts to the key switch. Then thru the microswitches, until you find where it stops.

    Wayne, thank God I found you, no one talks about Western Golf Carts. I'm happy to learn I can buy the parts I need from you, I hope you can supply them. I have a 2005 Elegance. First off, I want to change front and rear shocks, but the front shocks is a problem for me. How do I get access to the top portion of the shocks, I can't find where they come up through the body. I also need the leaf spring grommets for left and right springs, I believe I need a total of 12 (not sure), but you know. Also need right inner bearing seal. Can you help me? Thank you.

    • @waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900
      @waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately, there is no consistancy with the western parts.
      Western threw so many random parts in their assemblys.
      Also when they dropped their fiberglass bodies onto the ezgo chassis, they would not cut out for access to stuff.
      So look real closely at whatever you need to remove ( shocks?) and see if you can drill a hole to get some sort of access to nuts etc.
      If you can remove the shock, and cannot find a ezgo replacement, go to an auto parts store like napa, and they may be match it up, also on the bearings.
      The bearings will have a number stamped in them, and should be very easy to find. Also the bushings should be easy to find.
      If you cant, people have actually sent me an old part to see if i can find and sell them one, its amazing how many westerns are still around.
      Also send me your entire serial number and maybe i can get you some info.

    I need help with my 2006 42volt Western. I burned up three forward backward switches (yes they were the high out put ones). I seven new batteries in and replaced all of the wiring to 2a wire, and had the controller rebuilt back east. When I buttoned it up, it went in reverse about 40 feet and quit. Now no forward and no backward. Solenoid clicks in both forward and backward. Slight little surges in forward. I am not far from rolling this POS off of a cliff. Can you think of anything I might have missed? Does a 2006 Western 42 volt (EZGo) have an ITS? Would that be a possible issue? I ve dumped over $5k in this cart and am borderline done with trying.

    • @waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900
      @waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it has a it's, and you can check from above with a meter. There will be a white plastic connector on passenger side battery area, that has 4 wires in it. USUALLY that connection gets corroded and malfunctions. Check that, and if it's bad, cut it out and splice those wires.

      I’m about to buy a western 42 V seven batteries built-in charger golf cart but it clicks but it doesn’t move forward or reverse and it’s a 2004. I don’t know if it’s the motor or that piece under the floor where the pedal is…… Is it worth buying for 1000?

    • @waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900
      @waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900  ปีที่แล้ว

      Totally up to you. Personally I would not buy a western 42 volt cart. Right now to have batteries installed in that, it's about 1500 dollars, and I don't think that cart is worth that.
      I would first verify the solenoid is good, they go bad on western carts alot.
      Also your problem may be in the f/r switch.

    very nice video, thank you for posting. I have a couple questions I am hoping you can help me with. 2005 western, we dropped in a 105 amp hour lithium pack. Solenoid will click (on pedal depression in forward and reverse) but cart will not move. Can you offer suggestions on how to get it going? new 48 volt solenoid? do I need to upgrade controller which means a new 48 volt wiring harness as well? f/r switch is in the dash.
    I guess my best question would be, what is the easiest way to get this cart running again? thank you very much in advance!

    • @waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900
      @waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it ran before you dropped in the lithium unit there really is no reason it should not run again. It sounds like you've not hooked up all the wires. You should not have to replace any parts, again, if it was running before you did the install. It wasn't running before from one day and then just not the next?
      I know there are a lot of wires on the Western cart but you should have really only had to deal with the battery wires.

      @@waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900 it was running fine before swap. Now the soleoid is clicking but cart is not moving. Should add, it's a 48 volt Eco Lithium and when fully charged it's at almost 54 volts. Could this have something to do with it? Western is only 42 volts ...

    • @waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900
      @waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need to install a 36 volt unit, not 48 volt
