Great video. Have the Q300 turboback on my 2016 STI and I just love it. I have two kids so can't have too much noise and drone. At the lights it's super quiet then when I rev it people will notice. Love the sound it's addictive especially with the Process West cold air intake. Couldn't be happier with my decision.
Finally exhaust clips without crappy audio so I can hear how good they sound. I was starting to worry a turbo back would make mine sound like a straight piped Civic😅
Have an R400 on my '10 STi hatch at the moment, but Q300 is going on at the end of the month. Can't wait! Conversations are basically impossible with the R400.
Thanks for watching mate!! Really appreciate the support :) Congrats on the new car, and new exhaust!! Check out my latest episode about an STI engine and its catastrophic failure!
Great vid big man! Just a question re: your cosmetics - which lip kit did you go with? - the stock wrx trunk spoiler removal, how did you plug the holes? Cheers
Thanks for watching mate! Appreciate the comment. I just have an OEM style/STI style lip kit. Rear splats are HT style or sth, found a cheap pair off aliexpress. For the boot, i got lucky and found someone selling a genuine sti boot and spoiler on the market place! I have a video on how I got it and how to debadge.
I got mine from import image racing. Fitment is perfect and as far as I know it's still available. I literally opened the box and installed it no fabrication required
Great video! I have the invidia q300 turbo back now and I was looking at the r400 mufflers. Can I just buy the mufflers or do I have to get a whole new catback
R400 with killer b headers sounds nice but drones badly during freeway cruising but makes people look at you since I don’t have the rice rumble. Q300 is low key and makes daily driving better.
I've got R400 catback for almost a year now and sounds awwwsssommme. Planning on going for invidia turboback, COBB intake and dyno tune. Any thoughts how bad drone is going to be? bearable? its just a weeknd car sort.
I noticed people pay more respect and attention on the road when I’m with R400, less cutting off or they would yield out of my way as I’m approaching. Of course under my normal daily condition.
Lol i agree, its definitely a lot more noticeable esp to those that like to J walk right in front of you. Thanks for watching mate! Please consider subscribing if you havent already 🙂
I have the Invidia turbo back q300 system on my sti 200kw rumble shack tune and supports. No drone and gets a bit roudy only when the waste gate opens. Our brz q300 drones badly @2.2k and is loud, getting louder, but its muffler packing has failed(common issue) i think. Silver tips👍 I rubbed the blue off the brz`s tips.
Yeah the q300 sounds so saucey on the sti! Such a shame to hear about the muffler on the Q300... i haven't been jn the scene long enough to hear about these problems. Thanms for watching mate!
What are you thoughts with mods like -R400 catback -catted downpipe -dyno tune -pw cold air intake Do you think that’s alright for a daily? Do I need to upgrade the intercooler or any mods? I don’t care about the drone. I already have the R400 and PW intake now. The invidia downpipe and tune only will cost me $1600. That’s why just opting for them two. Should I save and upgrade more?
Yeah mate that sounds great. You dont need to upgrade intercooler, but it will help your car perform over long periods of time i.e. on a track day. I reckon those mods you listed are a great place to start. Check out my latest video!
Yeah mate its not that loud just as catback... I've heard Q300 with a catless down pipe and it sounds very very juicey!! Much better than an R400 would I reckon. Thanks for the support, I appreciate it mate :)
Nope wont drone inside. Though I've heard that Jpipe on CVT is not worth. You'd get more bang for buck from just tune and catback, in that case will be an R400 catback.
@@MrDuongTV1 thanks for the reply. Got a r400 on my sti. Been considering a sports cat as well. I've heard it doesn't really make it that much louder but changes the tone. I just don't want to upset my neighbours anymore than I currently am 😂

@MrDuongTV1 ok thanks for reply How's the q300 normal causing is it totally silent or abit of rumble I don't want it too loud and too low confused haha

why invidia at all? overrated & overpriced. so many other options out there same quality if not better with cheaper price and an axleback-alone availability instead of being forced to buy the whole catback.
Mate to each their own, if you aren't a fan of Invidia, that is fine. For reference, Pro Speed Racing who are the parent company of Invidia, DO SELL their R400/Q300 in AXLE back only. Plus, just going axle back is restrictive for higher power brackets.
@@MrDuongTV1 Not against Invidia, not at all, but i'm baffled by the exaggeration pivoting around it, that's that. Even if it is available as axleback only, it only fits its own catback. What if I have an aftermarket turboback or catback of some vendor (a 3inch midpipe, so no restriction or anything) and I decided someday to replace the axleback only? Invidia won't offer a solution. I'm now running cobb dp and nameless catback, the axleback is muffler delete and it's awesome but now I'm planning to replace it by a more subtle mufflers, guess what? Is a tune requierd for rhe q300 turbo back on a bone stock 2018 WRX? Thanks.
For a catback no, for a turboback, definitely yes.
Were the crackle and pops there before you did the J pipe?
Yup, though not as loud and not as frequent. Almost non-existent on Q300 catback.

2000+
