  • Experience the heart of Beijing with us as we show you everything we ate in China in 144 hours! Our China food vlog takes you on a journey through Beijing's most iconic food spots, starting with the historic Tiananmen Square and the majestic Forbidden City. We eat our way through Beijing trying all of China's best local foods. To top off our day, we savor our first authentic Peking duck and indulge in traditional Chinese cuisine at a local restaurant. We also visited a Chinese McDonald's to compare what it's like with UK and US McDonald's.

    Google on your phone can install offline translation functionality. This way you can translate even without an internet connection. Or install a VPN on your phone to solve the Google login problem. If you want to come to China again after returning to your country, you can activate international roaming with a SIM card in your country. When you go to China, you can directly use your mobile phone to roam and access social apps.

    I made a similar mistake when I ordered two dishes in Guiyang, I could hardly finish only one of them. Sometimes, it is hard to estimate the size of each dish. In China, they are usually bigger than expected. The black sauce is Tian Mian Jiang (sweet flour sauce).

    When you eat roast duck, the white part is sugar. You eat it directly with the duck skin dipped in sugar, and the green onions, sauce, and cucumber are wrapped in a pancake and eaten. The black beans in the noodles are soybeans + yellow sauce.

    The cuisine of Beijing can be summed up in two words: "attention to detail." Take the craft of roasting duck, for instance-there are two main techniques: hanging oven and closed oven. Just among the traditional roast duck restaurants, you have Bianyifang, Siji Minfu, Quanjude, Liqun, Sheng Yong Xing, Tidu, Jingweizhai, Da Dong, and many more. And this doesn't even include the numerous trendy new spots that have recently opened. Exploring all these places requires time and dedication.
    你们探索需要的是攻略和时间
    What you need to explore is guidance and time

    All restaurants in the UK should have a mandarin translation version to make it easier for Chinese tourists since mandarin is actually the most spoken language in the world.

    • @dunneytravels
      @dunneytravels  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That’s by population, not by worldwide speaking. English is the universal language, unfortunately Madarin isn’t so it wouldn’t make any business sense for U.K. to include mandarin translations. Spanish, French, German and other European languages are far more widely spoken throughout the U.K. than Mandarin.

      @dunneytravels: In Canada, most Chinese restaurants have both English and Chinese on the menus. That's because most of the customers are chinese, and a number of them are more comfortable speaking Chinese.
      English is not an official language of mainland China. It just isn't. It doesn't matter whether or not it's the universal language.
      Some people would prefer that people in China get rid of Mandarin and just speak English. I doubt that will ever happen though. The dominant country in the future will be either China or India. Only a small number of people in India actually speak English fluently -- about 9%. The vast majority speak Hindi.

    You were grasping your chopstick way too low when having the duck meal. This would make it very difficult to pickup food. Your hand should be holding the upper portion of the chopstick rather than the middle or lower portion. When you hold the chopstick in the middle or near the tip, the movement range is limited. Don't equate holding the chopstick with holding a pencil. Dan's hand position on the chopstick is correct.

    I am a Chinese, I want to remind you.
    As more and more foreign tourists come to China, such scams may become more popular. One person takes the initiative to chat with you, making you think you have made friend. In the end, he/she will sell you some tea, local specialties, or other products, usually at a higher price than usual. Or recommend you to participate in a paid travel activity, but it may not be worth it. In some tourist attractions, some actors may warmly invite you to participate in activities, such as folk wedding performance, let you perform as the groom, and after everything is completed, they will ask you for money, but this situation is rare in formal attractions.
    I have seen some vloggers and comments say that the Chinese people are friendly. If you accept this idea, you may become victim of such scam. Good luck.
