I JUST WANT TO SAY THIS. THAT WE ARE BLESSED TO HAVE TUESDAY WELD IN THE WORLD. SHE HAD AND STILL HAS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SMILE. SHE MAKES HEARTS MELT. THANK YOU TO THE HIGHER POWER FOR BRINGING HER.
I have been smitten with her since the original Dobie Gillis Show. He is the ideal of beauty for me--which has made it awfully difficult to function in the real world!
+Dassoon Fitz The color clips are from the film "Rally 'Round The Flag, Boys!" (1958) in which Tuesday and Dwayne first appeared onscreen together, which was what led to them being cast in "Dobie Gillis".
Dobie,,, the guy with all the girls! I watch the show when a kid in sixtees, i was about seven , great philosopher with women. Btw I met Bobby Vee backstage in 1984 with my favorite fling Jill. With hotpants. Scaled the wall. No. Randy and the rainbows did not come
Tuesday and Dwayne did have great chemistry together! Their complicated off-screen relationship seems to reflect on-screen. Perhaps, it wouldn't have worked otherwise:) They should have spent more time on them in Rally 'Round the Flag, Boys! because I found the main story, with the adults, to be quite boring. Tuesday as Comfort Goodpasture was a scene-stealer. Isn't there a part in the big scene at the end when Dwayne smacks Tuesday on the rear-end with his tomahawk? Ha! I haven't seen the film in a few months. If Tuesday ever wrote her memoirs, I would love to know what she says about Dwayne Hickman after all these years to reflect!
+Randy Ventresca Yes, he did! LOL. I really enjoyed seeing Dwayne shirtless. I agree that he and Tuesday should have gotten way more screen time in the movie, but it was a nice compensation when they were cast on "Dobie". Their chemistry was great, and yes, their relationship was complicated, and part of that reason was that Dwayne was attracted to Tuesday, and as much as he was annoyed by her behavior and unwillingness to rehearse, he was bothered by the fact that she was introverted and kept to herself, which prevented him from getting close to her. He's always described her talent and beauty in glowing terms and more recently has more positive things to say about Tuesday. It would be interesting to hear Tuesday's side. Maybe her current biographer will be able to find out more.
+Muirmaiden I am looking forward to a new book on Tuesday Weld. Louis Jordon is writing a book on her. He confirmed this again to me via a Twitter message I sent him a few months ago.
+Randy Ventresca Yes, Louis has been working on a biography of Tuesday, which I am also very excited about. I've been assisting him a bit, finding photos, articles, etc, which I thoroughly enjoy doing. It will be great to have a more in depth biography on her, unlike the one that was co-written by her grasping stage mother and the other one that was erroneous in another way and relied heavily on magazine articles. The latter one, "Pretty Poison: The Tuesday Weld Story" by Floyd Conner is okay for a basic outline but nothing that really goes into detail about Tuesday's life and career.
+Randy Ventresca Re-watching the episode "The Gaucho" recently, I noticed that in the fantasy sequence, Thalia gives Dobie an open-mouth kiss (which is briefly covered in close-up), and I don't know how that got past the censors! By today's standards, it wouldn't be a big deal, but in 1959/1960, it was pretty hot stuff. Was it something the director wanted, or was it improvised? Hmmm.
RIP Dwayne Hickman (1934 - 2022)

+Muirmaiden Thanks for the info. I have the Pretty Poison book. It's a fun read but thin.
