The greatest gift one can share with another is knowledge. Your instructor should be very proud of what you've become. Not only are you a first-class woodworker and restorer, but you, like your instructor, are sharing with your videos.
People, like myself, enjoy watching because your skill is so masterful and you don't cut corners. You always leave me in awe of your beautiful transformations.
Thanks for giving us this little peek into your life. I’ve been a subscriber for quite a while and I have always been amazed at how clean you keep your shop. I know very little about woodworking and wish now that I had been hands on when watching my dad growing up because I find it fascinating. Even now, the smell of sawdust is very evocative. Your work is amazing and very satisfying to watch and your videos aren’t filled with annoying edits and music and other various nonsense that so many TH-camrs seem to think are necessary. Your videos match your aesthetic: clean, simple and straightforward. I’m looking forward to your next project! ☺️
Thank you! I love this! Sometimes I wonder myself, why I, a 55 year old wife and mother of 8, like to sit here in Tennessee USA and watch an Estonian man restore furniture on TH-cam. I guess I just find it satisfying to see something old or broken restored to near perfect and I can escape my simple little life for a while. I took wood working for one year in school and I asked for an orbital sander for Christmas.
@@davids6533 Well, with 8 children, 4 still in the house, 2 that I am still homeschooling, a cleaning business and a husband, maybe "simple" wasn't a good choice of words. ;)
I don't know why other people love your videos, but for me it is because you restore things and make them beautiful again. There is so much chaos and destruction in the world and it is very troubling. Watching you fix things and make them new and beautiful again gives me hope.
What a cool video! Thanks! It is nice to see 'behind the scene' as it were, and all of your tools. I'm not surprised that your videos have gone viral - you are a true craftsman and do amazing work. Even those of us who do not understand all the work behind the restoration can appreciate the skill behind it. Thank you so much for posting!
Brilliant... Thank you for the insights from where your MASTERLY work comes from. I am 100% sure that many people viewing your work feel better after they see your completed project in each video that you put out. I say this because you said you were surprised that the Farm Table got so many views. Your work is therapeutic! I watch EVERY video you put up because I get to see a Master at work, the respect shown to old furniture by perfect and tasteful restoration and as I said above, "healing" to viewers. Please keep the videos coming.
Thank you for the grand tour of where you perform these miracle restorations. You are a very talented carpenter. Your instructor should be very proud of your accomplishments. You can also thank your employee for lamenting as it gave you a better workshop. Thanks again..
It's always a delight to watch a skilled craftsman at work. The restorations are beautiful and I learn a lot from watching. Thanks for the shop and equipment tour!
My dad taught industrial arts. As a young girl, he didn't invite me in his shop, plus I wasn't interested in those tools or sawdust! Now that he is gone, I am older and wiser. I wish I had just put on some coveralls, joined him at the table, and learned those extremely valuable skills. The new furniture is so cheaply made. I want to restore the better antiques for my home. I watch your videos for comfort, inspiration, and education. THANK YOU!
I have watched all of your videos that have actual furniture and I base all of my opinions of true restoration on how you do things. Thank you for sharing your art with us! ❤
I went to an industrial school called Kurikan Ammattioppilaitos (at the time it was called that, it changed since) in 95-97 and became a joiner. That school was and I guess it still is a friendship school with Tallinna Ehituskool. So in spring of 97 we visited Ehistuskool and stayd in Tallinna for a week. Two guys from Ehituskool spent some time in our school before that and they were our tourist guides in Tallinna and invited us to their homes too. It was a really fun trip and it was cool to see a little part of Estonia.
Let’s start with the end, of course, folks all over the world want to watch, your videos are concise and take us clearly through the process start to finish. Some the projects like the Biedermeier sofa look impossible and yet come out museum quality. I was surprised that through school you were able to study furniture making and restoration. Sadly, I don’t know of any such schools here in the US. When I was young, more then a few years ago we had trade schools and valued them. Your work is amazing and quite enjoyable to watch. Keep it up and thanks
You'll be pleased to know that such programs do still exist. A lot of them are found in relation to museum conservation programs, but there are also entry level training courses like the Furniture Academy in NC and Palomar College's (CA) Furniture Technology course. Period Furniture Conservation in NYC trains people with woodworking skills to go into conservation. (Art historian nerd here who knows these things exist from professional research interests. 🙂 )
Thank you for showing us your work place and a little back story on your life. I really enjoy watching you make old worn and broken items like new again. It's a relaxing and interesting experience. your skills are wonderful.
Ahti, thank you for sharing a bit of your story and showing us more of the place where the magic happens through your expertise and creativity. I got a lump in my throat when you showed us the restoration of that Biedermeier sofa, it was so stunningly beautiful. I am grateful that you decided to film your work; it’s always so interesting and satisfying. I hope there will be many more years of fabulous restorations and videos to chronicle them.
It is oddly satisfying to see old stuff get a new life. I think that, as we get older, we also need to transform ourselves and get a second lease in life. Regards from Seattle, USA.
I enjoy watching furniture refinishing and you are the best craftsman I have found. Your skill and attention to details are really one of the best on TH-cam and you don't take shortcuts like many refinishers do. It's just a pleasure watching someone who is great at his work. Also, I enjoy your humor. Thank you for sharing a little bit about yourself. I hope the channel brings you much success.
Thanks for giving us an opportunity to get to know you better! That Biedermeier sofa!!! This is why I watch--you are very talented and clearly care about the pieces you restore. I also enjoy your sense of humor. Keep on keeping on!

I always thought that you kept such a clean shop. I didn't need this video to prove it. But, thanks! Your skills speak for themselves. I am quite sure that your teacher thinks that you are the best student that he ever had. I know that a lot of your fans have said all of this, but I totally agree. Your work is impeccable, and the added bits of humor always make me laugh. You are super talented in so many ways.

I hadn't seen this video until today! This is great. It answers most of my questions about how you got to be where you are. I loved the photos of Young You, and I particularly appreciated seeing a photo of your teacher. You do him honor. It was good to "meet" your nachines, too. That table saw is amazing. Why am I so eager to watch your videos? It's because I love watching highly skilled people doing their work. I also watch videos about restoring paintings, restoring cars, landscaping, cooking, and even trimming cattle hoofs! It is so wonderful to see how people find something they love and do it WITH love. It is one of the most beautiful characteristics of human beings! Thank you for sharing your skill with us.

Thank you so much for sharing your story. I always love to about the path people took, to where they are now in life. So creative to incorporate the cleaning (caressing) of the tools as you give us this tour! I love and cherish old things. I came to your channel to see the antiques. I stayed because watching your artistic talent just blows my mind! Thank you for the videos.
Muchas gracias por tus vídeos. Eres un excelente artesano. Verte trabajar me da mucha paz. Enhorabuena por todo lo que has construido y logrado. Buena salud para usted
Love hearing about your life, I am from Argentina and I have lived in the USA for most of my life. We have lots of immigrants from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. They are hard workers and good people like you. Sadly most of the last wave of immigrants to Argentina want to live there for free! And now we have the same problem in the USA. 😢 keep up the amazing work!!
I started out watching Tom Johnson furniture restoration videos for relaxation. Loved them, so I searched for more and found you next. I subscribed to your channel. Then subscribed to your music channel. I enjoy hearing the backstories of You Tubers. Keep up the good work.
I also watch Tom Johnson. He only does a video every other week so I looked for others and found AT. Relaxes me before bedtime! You might want to try @twoodfrd and @BaumgartnerRestoration.
I know absolutely nothing about woodworking but I have a great love for 'old things', and I genuinely love your videos! Your work is stunning. It's nice to have a look behind the scenes also and your workshop is impeccable. Kudos to you, greetings from The Netherlands! 🇳🇱
Congratulations, Ahti! You do an incredible job and you are certainly a good and hardworking person. I admire your work and your videos enchant me! In my country, Brazil, I have never seen a restorer like you before. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
What a nice surprise to see this video where you tell a little about how you became the best restorer in the world. I was touched by the mention of your teacher, who must be immensely proud of you. Your studio is very clean and organized, even with so much equipments. I also love your 50 clamps, hehe. Your academic background is very interesting and that is why it is very pleasant to see your videos, these tracks, such good humor and good taste. I'm running out of words to express my admiration for you. Your channel is wonderful! 👏🌷
I think I watch your videos for the same reasons as many of your viewers. There's something wonderful and deeply satisfying about watching someone who is very good at what they do, and also seeing broken and damaged things made whole again. In addition, seeing old things restored shows that we don't have to have the newest thing all the time, but instead puts importance on items of good quality and caring for what we have in front of us. And in a world that is fast, uncertain, often broken, and filled with sad or troubling stories, seeing the calm and deliberate fixing and restoration of something that was damaged is in a small way a reminder that humans are resilient, creative, and industrious, and we can each do little things to repair the world around us, and your little jokes are a reminder that people can find joy and humor in their work. Also, and this is probably just me, but wood shop noises are like some kind of ASMR when I'm stressed out. Super relaxing. I grew up with a dad who worked in construction, so he never hired someone else to do what he could do himself. He was always building or fixing stuff around the house, and I would always follow him around his workbench in the garage when he did those projects when I was a kid. To this day, the sound of tools and the smell of wood shavings are insanely relaxing and comforting to me. But that's probably just me remembering good times with a father that I miss, and recalling all the things he spent so much time teaching me to do.
Ahti, you are an honest and hardworking man. Thank you for sharing a piece of your life with us. I know that in the future you are going to restore amazing furniture and objects. I can't wait to see those videos.
Your channel is a rare gem of workmanship, humor, passion, understatement and time honed skill! You share generously and genuinely. You show daring and restraint. You share with us your love for your work. Thank you so very much!
To do all the restoration you do, at the level at which you are your instructor has to be so proud. You take hopeless causes and turn them into beautiful functional furniture once again. 😊 ty for sharing 😊
Ahti, all you equipment is fantastic, but without the magic in your hands it would be worthless, those tools are so lucky to be owned by and respected by you.😉🏴
I really enjoy your channel. You are a true craftsman… I have done flooring work for over 40 years and appreciate your patience and meticulousness. It relaxes me to watch and enjoy your videoes and appreciate your finished projects! 👍🏻
Thank you for sharing your story and work shop. Your videos bring me hours of learning and are relaxing to watch. You are amazing at what you can do with wood!
You are an amazing restorer and extremely skilled. I was born ten years before you, but if I lived there I would be happy to be an apprentice. Good luck to you and your family!
Thank you for sharing this. I'll tell you why I watch you because you show what you're going to do, how it's done without being boring. I could watch you for hours because you are so talented, skilled, and interesting. Thanks for being here & sharing.
Thank you for sharing this video with us. It was very informative. Your work has always been amazing to me. I watch your videos over and over again just because I love your restorations come to life once more. I never had the pleasure of watching your first videos. I can't see them that far back, not sure why. Thank you again for sharing. You are absolutely fantastic with your skills not to mention how funny you are. Love you and can hardly wait to see the next one.
I want to express my respect to you. Your videos are inspired and very useful! I like your sense of humour and how you show the projects, with description and without extra information. I consider you my teacher. With your help I have fixed a stool with PVA. I new about it before but didn't trust🙂 It's amazing, but it's really works. And it's not all. I've also done some videos with furniture restoration for my friends also due to you. The format doesn't suite for TH-cam, but soon I'll solve this matter. Thank you!
Well I don't know how I didn't know about this channel! Been watching your other one for a year. So nice to hear your story! I think many people are interested to find out more about the people we admire on TH-cam 😊
I just love watching your videos. So happy to have found this older one telling us about yourself. It's enthralling for me to watch you create stencils and recreate all the gorgeous things you do. Your talent is amazing and is a lost art in the US. Thank you for sharing your art and talent with us all.
That’s awesome! Makes me feel better 😂 I’ve only started working with furniture during Covid and learned from TH-cam mostly. I wish I had a teacher. You’re definitely one of the guys I learn from. I’m happy you’re doing well mate. 👌
8:30 The reason why people love to watch your videos is because you're a craftsman. You show you have artisanal knowledge, all the little tricks etc. and people respect that. It is fascinating to watch how you break down a chair or table into components and then build it up again, looking like the day it came out of the factory.
That Biedermeier sofa is extraordinary. I hope that the video is still on your TH-cam channel. I’ll look for it. And thanks for the look inside your workshop. 😊
Thank you for this insight. I really love your channel. It's always enjoyable to watch you work on your projects. Keep up the good work and the videos and have a nice 2023.
I wish I could leave 1000 like to this video!!! You are simply the best! Thank you so much for sharing with us your story and your astonishing work. No one looks for perfection and is so skilled to get it like you!
What an outstanding shop, however is the owner that makes it. Your instructor should be always smiling, also he must have imparted humor , cause your vids make me smile and put me in a good mood. Ty for sharing.
Thank you for the tour and a bit of your history. I love watching your craftsmanship. In one of your videos you said you know you did a good job when no one can tell the piece has been touched. I think that's such a cool philosophy and goes against the norm of trying to standout so people notice and praise you. Very cool.
What an interesting man!! You are very talented with humility and a sense of humor ! That’s rare these days! I enjoy your videos and maybe even learn something too! Great video!
Very interesting story, my friend! Thank you for sharing with us! As to why we watch you, watching a master craftsman do amazing things is always very nice to watch. Thank you and keep up the great work!
Me encantan tus videos, aprendo un montón y además vuelves a la vida cosas que para otros sería basura, como las magnificas sillas sobrevivientes de un bombardeo de la 2da Guerra Mundial, Chapó. abrazo desde Venezuela !!!
That was great seeing your workshop and hearing your story. Really nice to know something about the person we are following on each video. You are a superb craftsman and a really good housekeeper (ha,ha,ha)
The reason people want to watch what you do Ahti, is that what you do, is done at the level that you do it! Your work is top notch, I've never seen better (and I've a fair amount of woodworking myself). It's a pleasure to watch you bring back what most would destroy. Thank you again brother for your work, and sharing your life with us. God bless. Rev. D.

But that's probably just me remembering good times with a father that I miss, and recalling all the things he spent so much time teaching me to do.
Watching a Craftsman at work is fascinating and a joy, thank you for letting us see your work.
Ahti, you are an honest and hardworking man. Thank you for sharing a piece of your life with us. I know that in the future you are going to restore amazing furniture and objects. I can't wait to see those videos.
That couch restoration was truly awesome!
I like the way to present your workshop cleaning and vacuum during the show of the tools. I like your video's. congrats
Can´t beat the experience!
You are gifted beyond the average person. That is why so many want to view your work. Thank you for all that you share and do. 🌺👍🌷🌸
Thank you for sharing your story and work shop. Your videos bring me hours of learning and are relaxing to watch. You are amazing at what you can do with wood!
vous êtes vraiment bien installé et bien classé
You are an amazing restorer and extremely skilled. I was born ten years before you, but if I lived there I would be happy to be an apprentice. Good luck to you and your family!
Always enjoy the back story of the folks I watch...Hello from Lizella, GA USA
This is my "Plus" channel, you need to look here: www.youtube.com/@ATRestoration
Thank's for the tour friend great workshop , have a good 2023 and keep making those good video's for us all, have a nice day 🇬🇧🇬🇧😀😀:-).
Great story brother. I really enjoyed the trip you've been on the past 27 years. Keep on trucking! Thanks for sharing. GBU
I’m sure your teacher-mentor is very proud of his student.
Молодец ,мальчик ! Чистюля с "золотыми "руками 😊
Thank you for this insight. I really love your channel. It's always enjoyable to watch you work on your projects. Keep up the good work and the videos and have a nice 2023.
We like to see what u do because you do it well, and it so satisfying. Thanks.
Thanks for the tour of your workshop. I especially loved the restoration of that sofa - amazing job.
Very cool.
Yes!! I have much admiration for your work. I am a nurse. But i wish I studied to do something like this
I think healing people is the most important job in the world ♥
What an interesting man!! You are very talented with humility and a sense of humor ! That’s rare these days! I enjoy your videos and maybe even learn something too! Great video!
Thanks for taking advantage of a vacuuming session to give us this perspective. Your channel is my favorite. 🤩
When I grow up I want a workshop like yours!!! 👏👏👏👏
Yours is one of my favorite channels. I only wish I could meet you in person, you're a real master!
Very interesting story, my friend! Thank you for sharing with us! As to why we watch you, watching a master craftsman do amazing things is always very nice to watch. Thank you and keep up the great work!
I enjoy watching you working! My grandfather was a charpenter and respect your work and results. Greatings from Rio de Janeiro,Brasil.
God bless. Rev. D.
Thank you for your videos. After watching a lot of your videos i decided to take a class on woodworking with my wife. Even if it’s really different of our daily jobs 😀. Keep posting new videos!!
It is good to get out of comfort zone 👍
You talk about your machinery with such love and pride. Thank you for sharing your story!
You seem to have a great sense of humour. I bet you're fun. Thank you
You probably get your sense of humor from your father. I enjoy your humor and watching you work. Thank you for sharing. 💜
Thank you for your story. I admire your work. Look forward to next video.
