There are a mind numbing choice of suv type vehicles to choose from. Small pickups are all the rage right now. A Honda fit pickup would no doubt be very successful. Get on board Honda.

@@johnkonde1975There’s a reason all sub-compacts are getting discontinued. People would rather go into debt to look wealthy than buying something practical. The market has changed. The days of buying within the means are gone. 20 years ago people saved to buy properties. Since properties are out of reach for most cities, people just buy expensive cars.
The Nissan Versa sells well because it basically has no competitors. Even that is getting discontinued.

    • @atmartens
      @atmartens 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

@@johnkonde1975The Element was no where near the size of the Pilot. The Element was a quirky suv, and I’d imagine they’d want to base it off the CRV and make it more like an Outback or Forester competitor. Theres a new Passport coming so it’d be something smaller.
There’s nothing like the Fit coming back. CAFE standards have ruined small cars.

@@johnkonde1975 The Fit? It has been proven that most Americans don't buy tiny cars (and if they do, most don't hold onto the little crap-boxes for very long). The Element, with a removable rear seat, would be very practical for it's size and different from other SUVs.

The Avalanche was a pick-up with a removal back cabin wall. The back cabin wall of the avalanche came out in two piece. You could leave the window in and remove the lower panel and have a truck bed that extended to the back of the front seats, or remove the window glass for an open-back vehicle. They sold quite well when introduced back in the early 2000's. The Honda Ridgeline does something similar.

It's frustrating, because over and over and over again we see that, despite the accusations of SUV worship, Americans really want, and NEED, what amounts to a small van with plenty of doors and a flat rear load floor that turns into seats if you need them. Pickup beds are not secure, from theft or weather, you want something about that size, but enclosed. Any cleverness that you can throw at the cargo space is a nice bonus, and it should also be easy to clean. Engine power is not nearly as important as fuel consumption. The original Chrysler minivan, the Pontiac Vibe, the Honda Fit, the Honda Element, any number of hatchbacks, they all sell very well, but it's the manufacturers who do not like selling them.

A very well done (I mean software mostly cuz Honda is good at the rest) EV Element would entice me enough to buy even tho I swore I’d never buy a non-Tesla again.
For times when the Cybertruck is too big and the Model3 is doing robotaxi (I still believe!)😅
I’ve always loved the Element but didn’t get one. It wasn’t that great on efficiency with a 5-speed but I never disliked it.
Fingers crossed Honda figures it out. I’m not so sure they can go to China to adopt whole cloth and use Chinese tech the way European OEM’s are doing.
    Interesting catch. 👍

Since "cargo" minivans like the Transit, Pro Master City and NV 200 have been discontinued, just give us a "cargo" Odyssey. Nothing new or space age needs to be over thought and created. A AWD Odyssey with no 2nd/3rd row seating and no side windows would be fine. And on that note, Toyota...bring us the Proace and Hiace too. Done and done. Thanks Kirk.

Just update the original Element design with a 1.5 Turbo-Hybrid . 1 1/2 to 2" ground clearance increase . NOooooo CVT . Offer double paned glass & increased sound deadening on upper trims , & Honda would make a ton of money

Bring back the Element. Make it look like a Land Cruiser or an old Defender. Throw a Honda series hybrid in it OR throw in our tried and true Honda ICE with a manual transmission. Keep it simple with a panoramic sunroof thrown in. Sell under $32k and they're basically printing money.

I had an 06 Element EXP. It was the probably the first SuV out there. It can’t for me. Seats to soft no carpet and to plain for me. Mileage sucked. The same on my 08 Caddy.🏖️

@honda if you see this the element somewhat possibly started the fleet/k van today in USA. If you guys decide to bring it back At least let it be similar to discontinued generation with features wise. Have a fwd gas only, fwd hybrid , awd gas only and awd none plug in hybrid. Prices under $40k if possible in today’s market.

That "pickup" sure looks like a newer design of the Ridgeline.... You talk like you didn't even know that honda does, in fact have a pickup truck... pretty cool idea of the moving/enlargeable cargo area.

Third generation of Ridgeline, but just as likely it's a 7th Gen Honda Stepwgn variation.
Honda registers all their Japanese patents in the US - there are patents that clearly are just stuff from the N-Box no chance they will ever bring to the NA market.

If its a hybrid it would be very cool. Why go camping with a BEV? At least....anytime soon. Theres infrastructure in those areas.

We've had lots of false hopes like this over the years. Even though I have been holding out hope since 2014, I doubt Honda is making a new element.

I'd love to see the Honda Element return in some way. Honda Fit as well, given that is my daily driver and I was really in hopes of those Fit models they announced over seas the same month they announced the Fit discontinuation in the US.
Would also love to see Honda to make an official Kai-like pickup for the US. A very cheap, small pickup. They are super popular over seas, but here in the US, more and more states are making them illegal to import for some reason. I am not a pickup truck fan, but those tiny pickup trucks do interest me.

Just a basic remake of the Element would be great. Future cars should have multiple functions like extending length, configure for people or cargo, etc. Remember the bad old days when the only choice were cars that had long hoods and a trunk?

I was thinking about traveling the US and living out of it after retirement. This new element design would probably be perfect!

I had so wanted one of those Elements! I Just could not get beyond the poor gas mileage and the less than stellar ground clearance. Being a person who likes to camp and fish, I ended up with the CRV. With improved gas mileage and ground clearance, and the same design style (gas engine for me still!), I would buy an Element in a heartbeat.

Dear Honda if you bring back the Element please offer two models, one of your choosing and one that is affordable 😂

A good family car that transforms into a good enough camper should be pretty popular, depending of course on value for money.
Not sure though what the second patent is supposed to accomplish. Switching between a crew cabin and a big truck bed could be valuable, but if shortening the bed doesn’t provide additional seating, then the exercise looks a bit pointless?

  • @atomicsmith

Seems too complex to make it to production (affordably). They could achieve most of the same camper functionality by just designing a custom tent that would attach to the lift gate. There were lots of DIY versions of that concept that people made for the first gens. With just a little design it could be made much better.

Honda vehicles look goood, like all of them . I would love another Honda truck . Especially if it was just like the Ridgeline with a removable mid gate and awesome camper topper
