BYD is already here in Brazil too. And they're slowly pushing aside the traditional brands with great prices, a solid dealership network, and quality. It won’t take long before they conquer the Aussie market, and y’all won’t regret it.

US politicians said they have got to hurt Chinese cars and trucks with high tariffs and severe sanctions in order to make it a fair competition for the American car companies to compete with Chinese car companies, but seriously if the competition is fair then the American car companies would go out of business overnight! Nobody wants to pay twice as much for an outdated gas-guzzling American cars and trucks when they could buy a Chinese car or truck at half the price and save themselves hundreds of dollars every month on gas alone not to mention the costs of the cars and trucks themselves and still get a Chinese car or truck with all of the high tech features that American cars and trucks wouldn’t be able to get even 30 years from now! If the American companies have to compete against the Chinese companies fairly in anything they would go out of business in no time at all and that’s a fact! The US government wouldn’t be resorting to banning, sanctioning, and placing 100% - 200% tariff rates on Chinese products if they want to compete with Chinese companies on a level playing field! They put outrageos tariffs and penalties on Chinese companies because their usual 40% - 50% tariff rates on Chinese products are still resulting in Chinese companies kicking the American companies’ a$$es all over the place so that’s why they have to up the ante against Chinese companies with even bigger tariffs on Chinese companies in order to set Chinese companies even further back with even bigger tariffs and even more sanctions! But as usual they do it in a dishonest way by accusing China of playing dirty when in fact they are the ones playing dirty by placing illegal sanctions and tariffs on Chinese companies simply because their own companies can’t compete with Chinese companies in a fair competition!

And that's not even mentioning all the regular cars BYD was also launching over the past couple of years, such as the Seal, Atto 3, Dolphin, Seagull, Seal Lion etc.
And that's still no even mentioning BYD is also doing full redesigns of all their PHEVs too! Including the Qin sedan, Song crossover (Sea Lion 06 in Australia), Han Sedan, etc.

It's basically traction control. All this adds up to a very soft roader ute. Ok for most people who shake at the bottom of a big hill. Be interesting to drive it down really steep hills. Wow, I really really love the concept of a Ute that you could do all of your running around town just on the battery, then an engine for big trips and hauling … the battery is even big enough that if you forget to plug it in one night you will still be ok.
    EDIT:
I guess that it should be noted that if this vehicle is used as a workhorse, loaded and towing on the highway, once that battery is empty, you only have a little 1.5lt 135kw 260Nw engine … that admittedly could be an issue!
But gee, unladen it’s incredibly heavy! 0-100 is incredible, but most people do not have the skill set for that, 7 seconds in a Ute would be more than enough. Plus a turbo Diesel would be safer on touring trips where you need to transfer fuel … but I understand the petrol works better as a fast start up generator etc.
Yep, well done China and BYD, you are making Toyota and Ford look like they have been exploiting customers with low level products.

    Some nice features there
    - Power from two motors is great
    - PHEV efficiency
    - 240v power ports for fridges and other gear for camping!
    - Ride and coils
    Downsides
    - 2.5t load
    - Need an electric remote control cover for secure transportation of tools and stuff
    - the steps at the back like the ranger would really be helpful when accessing back tray
    - For lighter longer loads you could do similar to what Ford has done with its movable tailplane and remote control cover
    - For heavier longer loads you really need some sort of system that will allow both the roof and the base of the tray to support the weight. eg: Carrying a ladder or a large sheet of plywood. eg: A couple of pots in the rear on each side you can drop a frame into, and lock the frame in with screws. With roof racks they could support longer and heavier materials. (There are existing ladder racks around ATM, but they sit on top of the tray and as a consequence wont hold a lot of weight).
    Observations
    - Current Amaroks days are numbered
    - Ranger will be challenged, for the more RV and not trade use.
    - Tasman will have immediate competition.
    - Other Utes will have to step up quickly or become like the dinsosaurs - that means Toyota ...

The Ranger won't compete with this, it only has a 11kw battery for rubbish EV range and it will cost a lot more, I think the BYD will sell a lot to weekend warriors / families, the BYD has a really nice interior, I don't think tradies will buy this as it doesn't have the payload capacity but lets wait and see, whichever way it will be cheaper than Ranger or Hilux so I think the general public will take to it like crazy, Ford has done themselves a dis-service by taking so long to bring out the PHEV Ranger, and Toyota Forget it back in the stone age

    • @toyotaprius79
      @toyotaprius79 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

My only gripe about the BYD is that it's a sure series hybrid where the engine has zero connection to the wheels, this does mean higher energy losses and fuel consumption at high speeds and loads.
However the Ford Ranger is a simple deadass parallel hybrids with one electric motor bolted through the transmission which is subject an even bigger loss of energy from the battery and less flexibility than a two motor hybrid - but the engine's mechanic connection through the road and inate inefficiency gains it a benefit at high speeds and loads.
