Bowen was absolutely murdering casually rolling those r's. Amazing character and great sketch.
“Go make sad little gay songs” 😭😭 Boygenius better perform this year
@@MiaHutchinsonShaw oh hmm maybe?? I mean they’re both queer bands
“3 queer girls opening for Taylor swift, go make sad little gay song”
currently dying 😭
dying
How do we know that's not George Santos pretending to be Christopher Columbus
Because Bowen is talented and not a lying pos 😂
I'm The Official Inspector and I verify this 💯.
Duck you. That's funny
Lol 😆 good point
George Santos can pretend to be whoever he wants to. After all, Santos discovered America.
Bowen rolling with Michael accidentally saying "discovered" was the cherry on top 😂
Amazing accent aside, the fact that they have an Asian American playing a guy who mistook America for Asia. 😂
Imagine the reaction to a caucasian american playing an asian american.
@@CenterThePendulum😢😢😢😢😢😢
I think you mean Ay-see-a
@@CloseYourBrownEyeslol. Logical incongruence and crying are your domain, not mine.
@@CenterThePendulum What? Columbus was not American. He was Italian bruh. And guess who played Kim Jong Un before Bowen joined.
Little known fact, but on his voyage to Asia, Christopher Columbus almost hit an Iceberg. It was the same Iceberg that sunk the Titanic. But he discovered the Iceberg and convinced him to put out his album "Music". It was all bops, no skips, swear to God!
12 tracks
Wow what a story 😂
That story is 🔥
I'm so proud of the discovery of your comment!
Bowen's version of Columbus, is right up there with his "Iceberg that sank the Titanic"
That was my favorite Bowen clip. Original and hilarious!
You mean given a 20% esteem boost regardless of the quality of the performance?
You mean "the boat that assaulted the iceberg" ...
And now the iceberg is just trying to do this album is peace! 😊
Bowen Yang is the best SNL person since Christopher Columbus discovered SNL.
The boygenius joke had me in STITCHES
Bowen Yang is my favorite current male cast member. Great way to show his versatility. Bravo 👏👏
by versatility, do you mean "generic obnoxious gay man"? He has as much range as Kate McKinnon and ruins bits with his constantly broken grin just like she did. so...as usual...the gay cast member is the most overused and overrated member of the cast
@@doomdoomx I ignore haters like you
Bah bye
@@doomdoomxidk, I feel this episode showed more of his range, not more of the same
@@baileycash6196Bowen plays plenty of straight characters, but these ignorant bigots can't see past the fact that he just happens to be gay. That's all they see, so that's all Bowen will ever be to them.
@@doomdoomx one week old troll account, go away
This was a remarkably tame costume by Bowen's standards.
Don't worry. They'll come up with something more outrageous in the future...provided that Michael Longfellow doesn't get to it first. That live-action Dilbert costume from last season still freaks me out.
@@canaisyoung3601 DILBERT HAHA
the skin-hair! 🤣haunting
That Lala Land snap about white people inventing jazz was on point. Quality 2016 joke.
We invented the instruments….shrug….😂
No, white people jyst invented everything bkack use to play jazz not to mention everything else in their lives.
@@bocagoodtimes1460that’s such a good point, Boca. We whites know our place. The Chinese invented guns yet you don’t see white Americans get all high and mighty about guns
*wait a minute*
@@bocagoodtimes1460 Yeah. Coltrane didn’t invent the Sax. Or the recording equipment. Or the electricity to run it. Or provide the distribution, consumers etc.
invented the instruments 😂🤣😂 not even close
Bowen could red the dictionary in that accent and I’d be dying … hilarious
There is no end to Bowen's crazy characters - keep them coming.
Bowen is SNL treasure 😎
Boygenius getting the recognition they deserve
My favorite part of SNL! And Bowen Yang killing it as always! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Bowen in any costume equals a darn great laugh!!😂😂❤
Yup ha
He could be a great vampire on WWDITS with that accent
I Lost it at my big BOAT!!😂😂
Bowen is my favorite cast member. He is a gem.
His accent started off all Bruno Tonioli but went somewhere crazy as it went on! I love this sketch, so funny, I love u Bowen Yang!
i thought this was pretty clever and bowen carried it amazingly well
As an Italian kid I really struggled with the cognitive dissonance involved in having to fee proud of this guy while learning in school that his "discoveries" had directly led to an immense genocide... THANK YOU SNL for this skit, I think it healed a bit of my soul ❤
The nation of Italy did not exist during Christopher Columbus's lifetime, so he was not Italian. Georgetown University linguistic professor Estelle Irizarry published her book, "Christopher Columbus: The DNA of His Writings," based on close examination of hundreds of documents written by Columbus. According to her research, he was born in the kingdom of Aragon, in Northern Spain, and his primary language was Castilian. He sailed on an expedition for Spain and was later arrested by Queen Isabella and brought back to Spain, his home country.
Excuse me? We learn about Christopher Columbus in like first grade. Your first grade self had no idea what "cognitive dissonance" was. You weren't conflicted as a child because that's another emotion kids have no association with. You're just out here trying to be as narcissistic as possible to get fake likes on TH-cam by making up comments like that.
He was terrible person who was incredibly cruel to natives of the americas and his own people, to the point they overthrew him as governor and imprisoned him with cause. He did criminal and evil things even given his historical context and it would be very difficult to be proud of him despite his actions. If you want to be proud of an Italian explorer, there are dozens including the GOAT Marco Polo, so I'd focus on him or practically anyone else. Columbus shouldn't be celebrated and hopefully Italian American Catholics will find a new holiday to celebrate their heritage because he is a terrible brand ambassador at best, and a continual reminder of an evil in their history at worst. If St. Patrick or Robert Burns had done even a quarter of the atrocities committed by Columbus, my people would've stopped celebrating them or never started.
@@calleythompson2781 I'm sorry, which part of my comment expressed the desire to be proud of *any* Italian explorer...? Or was that a general "you" in your comment? I'm not Italian-American btw, I'm a first generation Italian Brit, with no need to worship any historical figure of any nationality - Artemisia Gentileschi and Mary Wollstonecraft are the closest I have to historical heroes (look them up, people, it's worth it) but I would never imply that they did or said no wrong ever
@@1midnightfish What part of my comment implied You were Italian American? I was just commenting on the fact that Columbus Day is a terrible choice for Italian Americans to choose as their heritage celebration day (because it was a week ago and it's the reason SNL made the video) and no one should be proud of him, but a lot of people still are, especially in America. For centuries there he's been raised up as an ideal heroic figure for young catholic men, especially Italian Americans, to emulate. And you didn't express a desire to be proud but you did express a compulsion of sorts that I was responding to, because no one should feel negatively for losing their pride in an objectively evil person (or at least he was while in the new world).
I remember Bowen's first skit on SNL, where he was leading a cycle class and said, "Abraham Lincoln was shot. It didn't have to happen!" I didn't know why at the time, but the way he delivered that random statement just made me laugh my head off. There is something very special about Bowen. He is just one of those rare comedians with a special aura of hilarity. He could play a stapler and still be hysterically funny!
Bowen Yang is COMEDY GOLD
Bowen is so good a owning these hilarious characters, and going on a hilarious, ridiculous tangent 😆Like Kate McKinnon and Kristen Wiig used to 😅
Bowen absolutely killed it here. Bravo
*_whisper_* ...the spice
...he knows about the spice
...the spice mélange 🪱
Bowen Yang is truly a treasure!!
Now everytime i think of colombus imma have this guy in my head 😂😂😂
the boygenius line killed me
idk what's better: Bowen Yang's commitment to that accent, or seeing "Marco" Che's genuine reaction to his co-worker/ having fun at wk @3:24
Bowen's Italian accent is molto benne
Snl really did something when the made Bowen apart of the team, he never misses!
Bowen is the best thing to happen to SNL in decades
Decades is a bit of a stretch.
Bowen Yang never fails
Bowen always brings it!
"You know Boygenius?" "Uh, that band with Phoebe Bridgers who sings the song 'Emily, I'm Sorry?'"
Ok, I loved this skit more than the majority of the guest appearances on Weekend update. This one was top tier. It was so stupid, but in a "omg thats so fucking funny" kind of way.
They give him props everytime he finishes i love that he can keep up so perfectly with them
Marco Che! LOL!!
Bowen can play anything!
As long as the character is a flamboyant, gay, asian man from new York.
3:19 This is what got me
Bowen's face 🤣
The Sebastian maniscalco joke did NOT get enough 😂😂😂
Man the Boygenius bit is so funny!😂
That smug look is killer!😂🎉❤
FYI "I discovered this living room!" will not work as a defense in a home invasion case. GREAT SKIT TYVM!!
Bowen is pure Gold Comedy ❤😂
He's my favorite of all time
bowen never misses
Thank you for putting together boygenius!
Loved to hear boygenius mentioned!
"The spice-y" 😂
Owen is fabulous. Still remember his Iceberg That Sunk the Titanic skit.
Bowen saves SNL ❤
Wait, there are boy geniuses other than Jimmy Neutron? 🤔
my immediate thought was jimmy neutron. but the screaming girls gave it away
I really thought they were talking about jimmy neutron too. Didn’t know there was a group with that name
I love their smiles, they had fun
Marco Che 😂😭
Fun fact: because Columbus was Italian, Columbus Day was originally created partly to celebrate Italian-Americans. I personally would have no problem if we kept the holiday, but just changed the name to Italian-American Day.
Columbus Columbusing is a brilliant bit
The way he yells MY BOWTTT!
Thee George Santos of History.
Hahaha
Love the boy genius reference
Him claiming to "discover" everything. 🤣
I missed these guys.. welcome back!!!
Bowen Yang is flat out great!
His pronunciation of Boat is hilarious
I LOVE Sebastian Maniscalpo, too!
so much you don't even know his name
The DJ Khaled reference hahaha
This is gold 😂
I wish they had found a way to bring back Bowen in last week's The Age of Discovery skit with Bad Bunny. Would've sent the skit over the top.
2:13 boygenius YAYYY
Bowen, you're accent's slipping. LOL
We need an Iceberg vizzy from Bowen, por favor. 🥶🥶🥶
On my bawt 😂
I think Bowen is my favourite actor on SNL currently. He's great.
Omg 😂😂😂 👏 👏 👏 I Stan Bowen!!!
Pretty good Italian accent.
I'm surprised he found the studio... must have been trying to get somewhere else.
He didn't just find it, he discovered it!
I misheard and thought he said he discovered text message 😂
My dad's middle name is Erickson after Leif Erickson, the explorer who truly discovered America - almost a thousand years before Columbus.
It is a family name passed down to sons. I don't know if we're related to him, but we are part Viking.
I do know for certain we are related to the MacBeth's, and I have always had the luck to prove it. No luck. Only bad luck. Lolol Supposedly the family was cursed because Shakespear detailed their chant in his book. It was never supposed to be recognized on that wide of a scale. Whenever I see The Fates in movies or shows, I sink into my chair. Like, they can see me.
@@staceycameron4157 nice joke on the luck, but the real MacBeth died without having children, so no one is descended from him.
@@AnitaClue The family of Macbeth. Not a direct descendant from the man from the play.
@@AnitaClue everyone's got family sweetheart
❤LOOOOOOVE BOWEN!!!
Was not expecting the boygenius shoutout... bet they're a musical guest this season!
Wow this guy is really good!
That was perfect
I feel like Bowen’s accent oscilates between Italian and Eastern European with just a dash Korean 😂
Bowen is awesome!
Marco Che 😂😂😂😂
i feel like we don't appreciate the irony that as kids we were taught that Columbus proved the world is round, yet now all the people who still revere him are flat-earthers
I love Bowen 😂
Softball questions for Chris!
Lol I could barely understand what Bowen was saying 😅
Chico Marx was better.
Marco 😂
Marco Che 😩😂😂
😂🙃
Judging by the lack of a response, I'm not sure how many people in the audience know that Columbus actually did think he had reached Asia.
I wish I hadn't seen this. It got me arguing with very nice folks
just because we have different
opinions. I love Cecily Strong!
This ALMOST makes me like Christopher Columbus. Almost. (I do love Bowen Yang. ♥️)
Great 😃👍🏾
