This was great - I was all ready to lay into the male pigs in the writers room for ’whore’ til I realized that for once it was spot on : archaic hate speech ;-)
Mhmd Rdam Dude : this actually a small bit of clever from someone who knows what words mean, dude. ”Blackamoor ” derives from the Islamic Moorish era in Spain. The Moors were eventually defeated, but the beauty and refinement of their civic and domestic structures were unparalleled and valued. Spain’s Queen Isabella - the one who financed Columbus- lived in the magnificent Alhambra, built as a palace/fortress. Shakespeare’s Othello is respectfully called the Moor, but the term was always race-specific. Blackamoor was *always* a racist slur - a doubling-down of black - because Racism goes waaaay back. The whole skit is about archaic hate speech, and the comment is ”politically correct”.
My favorite part is that the "Mongolian" line was improvised on-the-spot. Like... Bowen didn't know Adam was going to drop that gem on him, and he reacted brilliantly and just rolled with it
@@lukasblur3500 Will Ferrell used to be given a fairly long leash with regards to improv (see his Harry Carray sketch with Jeff Goldblum... 90 seconds in he just goes completely off script and makes everything up for the next 3 minutes, with a poor confused Jeff doing his best to keep up; it's hilarious) but yes, in general they don't like straying too far from the cue cards at SNL. And an ad-lib like that Mongolian line would have been a HUGE overstep. Also, the line very obviously sets up the "strike two" lines after he says Blackamoor, so it was definitely in the script.
SNL is all for improv and trying to mess the actors up. but if its anything that will rsutle feathers, they run it by each other first. No joke gets through without approval.

It’s actually pretty cool. So I’m sure Adam knew exactly what he was going to say. It’s also much funnier because you know he came up with it on his own so he’s more comfortable as the characters in that episode
Acting? Didn't you hear him? He's the Red and Yellow Knight, who's family was murdered by this bloated bastard king. How dare you belittle this man's trauma! 🤣

Normally they give the big comedic role to a cast member and a small one to the guest. That’s how good Adam is.
SNL: how can we write in a way to bring out the best comedy from this incredibly versatile and talented actor?
SNL: make him angry at everything.
They make him angry in different ways though lol. It's insane lolol
To be fair, he is very good at it
He's an incredible actor

The look on his face when he comes out with the bow and arrow kills me every time. Adam is such a good actor, and pits himself fully into every roll even something as “simple” as these SNL skits. Brilliant!
Chris was like "Aw, HELL naw!" when Adam called him a Blackamoor.
@ I really want to ask you... Where do you come up with your comments?
Mhmd Rdam they are floating around in the darkness of his heart.
That's actually what blacks in this country called themselves... before Columbus we were here in small numbers.
That long wig makes Adam Driver even more attactive, as if he weren't already.
So true!
Makes he look like Keanu Reeves
Is he just considered attractive because he is super talented? If he wasn't famous and I saw him on the street, he would look like any other dude imo.
@@PointB1ank Being famous messes with people's heads. Like anyone would find Mick Jagger attractive if he were a garbage man, lol!
PointB1ank don’t take it to heart, women are attracted to wealth it’s alright
My favorite part is that the "Mongolian" line was improvised on-the-spot. Like... Bowen didn't know Adam was going to drop that gem on him, and he reacted brilliantly and just rolled with it
Stop spreading lies. That wasn't improvised. People get banned if they improvise on snl.
Do you really think a line like that can be improvised without first checking in with the writers and the rest of the cast?
