the design wasnt to be aerodynamic it was just to reduce the amount of metal used in its production, nowhere in its manuals does it include the shape for aerodynamics

It was an experiment in armour thickness through extreme angling, and in typical Soviet fashion some idle speculation that it would withstand blast waves turned into "It is immune to nukes!" propaganda.
Gotta love the Tam and specially the tam-2ip side armour not triggering the fuze of the 122s and above even tho the 2IP even has composite screens to help fuze them
Fr I’ve bounced APFSDS on Tam’s They are so resilient It’s stupid I’ve shot one on the front where the 2 plates meet with DM33 And… it bounced… It’s like when a BMP2 eats a whole 106mm HESH round to the side and only loses its optics and track Sometimes, this game’s mechanics just don’t work
The TAM 2OP is like that because its a premium. Easy 9.0+ performance but has never moved from 8.7. The same BR as its (worse in literally every way) counterpart, the TAM.

Also tip for big guns with APHE when shooting at light targets, always aim for big modules like the breech or engine so the shell fuses and overpressures the crew
Doesn't matter. The round will consistently go through more than enough armor to set the fuse off and still not explode. It's a bug and has been a problem with the tank since volumetric.

Best thing about the 279 in my experience is the thing seems to drain brain cells around it. The object 279 in 9.7 games (or up if your my friends who think throwing a 9.7 into a 8.7 line up is a good idea) causes so many people to just go brain dead assuming it is zero threat and then they get absolutely obliterated by it. Lot of Abrams and Leopard 2s giving up free side shots to the thing.
Because of you.. rekindled my long lost love for this game. You know. Get passed the BS, toxic players. Bad teammates. Taking a week to even get a tank. It’s pretty fun

I could have gotten this tank but I grinded so much for it that I just felt terrible because war thunder is so frustrating playing it hour for hour every day. So I stopped playing half way threw the event and only started playing the game again half a year later
Well, depends. Any premium round can go straight through the front, but yeah, tier 9 and down can't do anything to it, and it has the most braindead playstyle in the game

As for this tank, well i can play with the T10-M and the T10-A but without the hull, the turret and this awesome auto-loader, this thing is just far more superior. I mean come on, it has like 300 or 400 millimiters of pen for like 200 grams of explosive mass if i remember correctly ? This thing is a beast ! Even if people says its not, i mean yes you can get pen easy but the armor is very trolly and if you pen, you one shot them 90% of the time.
@@saloonplay8510 The Obj 279 is the strongest gun ever put on a tank and it's a fantastic vehicle in a downtier, not because it's OP, but because people panic when they see it and most people dont know how/where to shoot it. In an uptier it gets eaten alive by faster tanks with strong darts. In a downtier your biggest enemy is ATGMs, TAM 2OPs and surprisingly HEAT slingers. The only problem is that 8.7 Russia is always getting uptiered because all the premium Turms players at 9.7.

Here is a fun fact about the object 279, u can overpressure it with the APDS belt of the 30 DCA. This has been tested in top squadron battles and it was funny seeing tryhards mald. Now if u see this and don't believe me and u have a DCA and and obj take them to a custom and shoot the cupola with the APDS belt.Have a good day
