I miss those old days with friends as a teen, just playing games all weekend. We had a pretty nice board we all made together, but it was nothing like this. My High Elves have fought countless battles over the last 3 decades
Hard (but fun) work pays off! You have definitely captured the Old hammer look, except for one thing. Yours is even better! Great job! I started Warhammer in the 80s and loved those White Dwarf battle reports!
You sprinkle the static grass on wet paint...I do that too! :D I just didn't think of pushing it into the paint though. I just let mine sit. I'll try pushing it in on my next scenery project. I do my washes right after the base coat, then layer and drybrush on the top. The models at the end look great. I also like how you "Messed with" the color of the pictures to give it that 1995 White Dwarf Magazine look. Makes it all "authentic".
I watched part one today and wondered why I couldn't find part two but I never checked the upload dates. I love this old school style. Seeing those dwarves ready to strike another grudge was the cherry on top. Earnt an easy sub here mate. I love winding down before bed watching painting and terrain videos. And I'm not implying you put me to sleep! Aha, but rather its a relaxing presentation and guide. I'm interested to see older and future projects of yours. Oh and I should add I also learnt a thing or two!
Fantastic!! Really a superb job. Very Oldhammer. I miss some more footage of the river and the bridge. I hope you can make some good old battles on that beautiful board.
For drybrushing terrain, I would actually suggest swapping from the GW brush to some of the large, makeup brushes. They actually seem to work a LOT better than the ones made for it and often cost a lot less.
Awsome build! I have this game like mordheim called Deepwars and ShadowSea. Deppwars takes place in the 1690’s in an underground ocean. With sunken ships, sunken submarines, coral reef, sand bars, kelp forest, giant school of fish, jellyfish, krill, sunken cities like a city in Central America, cave, lava fisher, hydrothermal vents, giant crystals. ShadowSea has a beach with ship wreck, carcass of sea animals, pyramids, ruins, mushroom forest, geysers, blue holes that shoot waves out and can pull your figures into the ocean. I can’t find a lot of videos, ideas to do terrain like listed in the books. I do not have a 3D printer. I found a big mermaid statue at hobby lobby, got aquarium plants. I want to make a wrecked sub, Dunkin’ wooden ships.
Well done. Rather awesome stuff there. I need to do some terrain for Warmaster so which such being 10mm I can take on your tips (but a lot less needed for such a smaller scale). Brings back memories of the good old days of warmaster/Warhammer/White Dwarf when Rick Priestley had hair. cheers . Subscribed.
I really enjoy your videos, it inspires me to finally start building my own fantasy board! :) just on a side note: try to balance the volume of music and voice
Nailed it! Outstanding work! I just wish we had seen some more finished shots with the River. While I know you’re not happy with the color of it, but I was really curious to see how the Liquitex worked as a water effect. I have a 3D printed modular River I’m about to paint up, and I’m stuck between using the Liquitex or Gloss Modpodge.
Beautiful, quaint and wholesome. It reminds me of White Dwarf in the 1990's. I'm not a fan of Age of Sigmar and its OTT miniatures and scenery. For me this is way better...🙏🏼👍🏻.
hey i've being going through your channel watching all your videos! i'm wondering though, how do you store your terrain? could you do a video on that possibly?
Thanks for watching. I have quite a big basement with a large hobby area. But i have sold a lot of stuff over the years too. It takes a lot of space. 😄
Super cool! Where did you get the flock you used for the tower (not the static grass)? It looks like it could be the stuff I use but I bought it so long ago that I don’t remember the brand or where I bought it… and now I need more. If you know what brand it is and where to get it, I’d really like to know 🙏 preferably in Sweden.
Okej tack! Är det sånt där mjukt flock som Woodland Scenics brukar ha eller är mer som små korn om du fattar vad jag menar 😅 det är så sjukt svårt att se på bilder på Google hur det egentligen ser ut.
Just to note, this is not what oldhammer tabletop looked like not even in big tournaments. They would barely have any terrain at all, because the movement in the game could barely hand any terrain. It would look like shit, and the table would be filled with empty unpainted movement trays because the players couldnt be arsed to remove the tray even with just a handful of minis left on a huge tray. I miss the old world but I'm happy the rules are dead and buried.
Takes me back to the Golden Age of Warhammer.
Thats the plan! 😁

Beautiful! I do believe you nailed that old white dwarf battlereport look. 🙂
Thanks so much!!!
Looks incredible. I feel like it's 1998 and I've just cracked open a fresh White Dwarf!
Thank you so much
Very authentic result. Sorta like a competent HD remaster of a videogame you liked as a kid! Looking forward to more content like this from you!
Thanks you. More is on the way!
This really captures the feel of the old white dwarfs I used to read and re-read when I was younger.
Thanks. That was the aim!
This got me right in the feels 😎
👌🏻🥲
It’s so bright and beautiful.

Thanks. And good luck!

I have considered this. The ones i have found are actually way more expensive than the gw one but i will keep looking.

What is the ground made of, like is it a mat or flocking?
It is the citadel battle mat. Sadly no longer produced.

Can Civilians and animals be put in the background for the battlefield?
I would imagine so! I have a few models that i plan to paint up for this purpose!
I miss the old style warhammer trees.
Me too!
Do you count the wheat field as difficult terrain or just an obstacle?
Good question. I havent played with it yet. Probablt difficult terrain!
Which minis do you use as your shield bearers?
Its the old marauder spearmen/crossbowmen that had the weapon separate
No pictures of the river?
