@martin1377 if i remember correctly the king abolished slavery in England before the Americans baned the import. And the king said any slave that set foot in English soil was a free man.

@youranoob-tx7vi don't know where you got that. I just looked at there is no information to say that. There is the "Somerset case" of 1772 the ruled that, as slavery was not recognised by English law, a slave that had been brought to England and escaped could not be forced to be sent to Jamaica. I couldn't find anything in either the Slave trade act of 1807 or the slave abolition act of 1833 about it being conditional on military service. Unless you are talking about the US civil war when slaves were given the option to serve and get their freedom?

This is precisely what makes all the talks about reparations so ridiculous. If reparations are due, then it should be applied to ALL who practiced slavery.

A lot of black people in America would be in for a rude awakening.

The most surprising thing for me is that white women were a kind of special target for slavery... Of all I knew, there were never a special target placed on woman of any color... Primarily because it doesn't make sense to target and enslave women instead of men (unless its not for work if you know what I mean, because, biologicaly wise, men can work harder and harsher)...
PS.: I know that theres a whole set of works that women do better than men, and I would like to not put this in discussion here, just because most of those were not a thing in those times... It was post slavery that women started to get proper jobs and those in where they do better than men.

It was sexual slavery. The Muslims still do it.

This video contains a lot of misinformation.
Most slaves that Berber pirates took were European, not 'mainly' American sailors.
Also, the American Civil War was not about slaves but the expansion (and thus power) of the southern slave states. It was a political and economic issue.
And it was the British that started to ban slave trade.
This was also for political and economic reasons. With a blockade of the Atlantic slave trade the British colonies (that wanted independence) would be effected as it had an industry that did lean heavy on use of slaves.

The video says that "many" of those captured were Americans, not "mainly". The idea being that it was a significant enough number that the President decided intervention was needed

The British started to ban slavery only in England, Then America sent our navy out to this battle that ended the barbary slave trade. Then England, being pissed about the US moving ahead of them on the fight to end slavery, decided to end slavery in all of the other nations they had taken over, but they replaced it with a different type of slavery. They made it to where they would empty out their prisons of all the men and women they imprisoned from Scotland and other nations they had taken over, but they did not set them free. They made them become indentured servants of British Military Officers and England's most wealthy families stationed throughout the world. They would usually die before they worked off their unjust sentence.

I've seen this docu many times now, but I will watch it again just to see the faces of people that were not told this history. Nobody in the America's gets told where the word "Slave" came from. I have Irish genes, and if you wonder why there are so many Irish in America, watch "the Irish slave trade". Half of the Irish population was enslaved and sold to America before anybody had ever seen an Afrikan an far before that. I have friends from Suriname an Guinea that were told only black people were slaves. Candice Owens did a good speetch about white people didn't invent slavery, they ended it and there is only slavery today in non-white countries, sad but true.
