    Besides UP Chorale, this is one of the perfect rendition I have heard of this famous folk song, BRAVO University Of Visayas chorale, you are amazing and special congratulations to the maestra!

    When I listen to foreign choirs do this song I notice that it lacks the requisite power that is evident when Filipino choirs do this piece. They almost try to be too refined. Filipino choirs perform this with a certain rawness that just grabs on to you.

    This is how it is sung in the home turf. A Visayan chorale singing a Visayan folk song. Mabuhay ang bisdak!

    This is really how it should be sung....for one, after the 'tigiding-tigiding-tigiding', the voices are not cut off going into the next line. Second, the pronunciation for 'nagtan-aw kan inday', is correctly pronounced, with the emphasis on the 'TAN-aw', not 'TAAANAW' as the foreign chorales pronounce it...these are the pitfalls I've got from listening to these foreigners singing this song... I'm sure if a bisdak can teach them, they will pronounce it properly too...just my two cents worth...I'm surprised with some of the negative feedbacks here...you have to be non-visayan to thumb down the dancing...that's visayan spirit, portrayed right here, with the singing!

    lots of technically perfect choral rendition of this song but this performance best displays the festive joyfulness of the song from native speakers

    This song has practically become a standard on the international choir circuit, with all kinds of foreign choirs performing it creditably well. This performance from a choir of people who are likely native speakers of the language is very good. The musical interpretation is pretty standard, but the choreography, even in rehearsal, lends it a flavor I really enjoyed, like a fiesta atmosphere, where the original folk song is rooted.

      Language, not dialect. Also, Visayan is a family of languages. There are many Visayan languages like Cebuano, Ilonggo, Waray, etc. Let’s not confuse a language with a dialect. In layman’s term, dialect is a variant of a certain language. Example of this is the English language: The dialects of the English language are British English, American English, etc. In the Cebuano Language, there are many dialects as well: Davao-Cebuano, Bohol-Cebuano, etc. ☺️

    Its like a scene picturing a person diving in water/river/sea then swimming up

    • @Teriyaki418
      @Teriyaki418 ปีที่แล้ว

      What? By muffled you mean it’s not loud and booming like the other performances you’ve seen or heard online? there’s not a lot of people in this ensemble like the other performances.

    • @norbe6534
      @norbe6534 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Teriyaki418 Picture this on the 1:18 to 1:23 part of the video, you are in a pool and you hear a song playing on a radio, then you dive on the pool.
      What do you hear on the radio when you are under the water?
      That's what I heard and imagined. And its hard to create that kind of realistic sound.
      And yes, I've heard it in this video using a monitor headphone.

      WTF it’s called “dynamics”. This “muffled” sound is called “piano” which means soft in Italian. It’s written in the score to sing that particular section softer. It’s part of the music.
      There’s nothing wrong with the audio or mic. 🤦🏻‍♂️😆

    • @norbe6534
      @norbe6534 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gramirez72 WTF, this "muffled" sound is called "kulob" which is an airtight sound in Filipino. The "kulog" is its opposite booming deep sound.
      😁
      I dunno how Italians write airtight sound though 🤦🏻‍♂

    • @gramirez72
      @gramirez72 ปีที่แล้ว

      Norbe
      The Italians didnt arrange the song or notate it, it was George Hernandez. “Piano” is a standard dynamic marking in music. It’s written into the score.
      What you call “muffled” is not muffled. It’s intentionally written in the score by the arranger.
      There is no such thing as “kulob” or “kulog” in music notation.
