      Queretāro is spectacular! Super cool entrance. The only thing that bothered me was another couple (stateside friends) came to stay with us in for a week in San Miguel and we took them shopping in Queretaro. We were shoe shopping and our friend Bob (6'4" about 250 lbs) with enormous clown feet found and purchased shoes. I was in those days 97 lbs and am 5'4". yes I have somewhat large feet. That was the day I found out that I had the biggest female feet in Mexico. A bit insulting after clown foot (his feet are like swim fins) found his shoes.

    You guys are sooo doing things the right way - travel while you're young, and no kids for a good while. Enjoy each other, as you are. You are definitely on the right track. I thought your food answer that you discovered in Mexico was going to be churros, lol. I could see you living in Mexico City, but not Monterrey. Keep up the great work. Lol, I watch your videos more than your family ;-)

    • @kinetickennons

      actually Monterrey is the closest to the american way of life in Mexico

    • @BettyA
      @BettyA 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are wonderful people in Monterrey, but it is noisy and dirty as a whole. Even so, it does have its charms. I've been there quite a few times as well as having lived there with family for about six months. Macro Plaza and Barrio Antiguo en el centro is cool. Cola de Caballo is really pretty. From the top of Parque Chipinque you could see the city of Monterrey covered in a heavy blanket of brown smog. Yukk. Apparently there is not much pollution control. Yes, ;there are 7-11s, Burger Kings, McDonalds, Walmart, Chili's Restaurant, Applebees, Starbucks, IHOP, KFC, Church's Chicken, Carl's, Jr, Pizza Hut, Little Caesars, Super Salads, and many more, and lots of very rude drivers. You're right. It is quite "Americanized." But still, it does have its charms. There is still a lot there that I would like to explore during future trips. I've been to Parque Fundidora. It's a good example of a great re-use of a property. I enjoy visiting Monterrey and really love the huge area of el centro. Quizas nos vemos un dia. ;-)

    You are absolutely wrong about the fashion in mexico. People in mexico actually care more about fashion than most americans, they always wanna be dressed in trends. As a matter a fact they wore skinny jeans back in the 90's and always had trendy haircuts from europe. They are very aware of the japanese and european trends as they like to dress different. They like to be so different that in school you cant copy other people's "swag" , if you do they make fun of you for not being original or authentic. Regardless i like your videos and I just subbed, I just thought I would let you know how's the fashion culture in mexico.

      diana fleur their being forced by Mexico or the drug cartels to make happy go lucky videos to the public. They want you to think Mexico is safe when it's really not. Mexico is forced sex trafficking, forced drug mules, and if you resist torture is next. Tens of thousands are murdered in mexico

    Hey guys, great videos! Regarding the tamales, One of the reasons tamales taste different it's because the corn used in Mexico is white and it is not sweet as a the yellow corn found in the US. So, if it's not corn Masa, what you're getting in the United States is more than likely made of Maseca corn flour.

    Thanks guys, all the way from Australia. Your video randomly came up on You Tube the other day....so Google clearly loves you guys too!!! My wife grew up (an Anglo) in Mexico and you have now put some great images with all those stories, the day to day activities many take for granted, but quintessentially wonderful to watch. Thanks for showing examples of the many lively, outdoors-y life she told us about, while she was living and travelling there as a kid. Thanks for your great videos. Dont worry about the heat, over here it gets hot and humid too, and agreed you just embrace it and learn to live outside and catch a breeze under a bit of shade on occasion, when possible. Now a question. I am a newbie here to your videos, but assume water there is "bottled water" only for drinking and please share, what is "THE" unique drink required for all that Summer thirst, when water won't quite do? Mexican - Amalia Hernandez 100th today (Google search bar) Might be a good day to jump in on today's trend with your videos. RD

    • @kinetickennons
      @kinetickennons  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hola Rod!! I have never been to Australia! We met with some people from New Zealand the other day, I know that's a different country, but to me they are pretty close lol. As to your question about what to drink, if water isn't cutting it then we usually get these electrolyte drinks called "Electolite". They aren't very sugary and they usually seem to do the trick! Or I just try and put a pinch of salt in my big water bottle to help replace the sodium I am losing. Biggest thing is just drinking plenty throughout the day and not waiting until it's too late lol.
      If you go to a restaurant they will ask if you want bottled water, it's usually a scam in my opinion. If you get just a glass of water (free), then they pour that water from a huge bottle water thing so it's still filtered, bottled, water. When in doubt, look around at people's tables and see what they are drinking.

    You mentioned in the videos that you plan on exploring other parts of mexico. I am about 10 yrs older than you guys and about 10 yrs ago I traveled throughout mexico. PV is a special place and probably the most magical city in Mexico. But I also really enjoyed CDMX (so much to do but you do experience "keeping up with the jones's ") there and San Miguel Del Allende (amazing weather and so beautiful). I now travel to mexico anytime besides the summer as the summers are too hot for me. I plan on taking my wife to Guadalajara in November.

      @fedgoe 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I Live in Saltillo, that is in Coahuila, and we have 2 magic towns here, Parras, and 4 cienegas, the first is home to the oldest winery in America, called Casa Madero, related to the revolution Hero Francisco Madero, and yes, they have some of the best wines in the world, the other town is absolutly wonderful since it´s unique in the world, maybe not a good comparison but it´s like kind of the mexican Yellowstone, and ofcourse Dinosaurs, Coahuila is famous for it´s dinosaur findings, I can also recommend, Tepóztlan, Merida, San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, San Cristobal, and the list just goes on, so I guess you just need to decide what town you would like to visit.

    We (my husband and I) lived in San Miguel for one year in the 90s. Spectacular. We lived several years in D.F. in 70s. In the early 80s we moved to Pie De La Cuesta about 30 minutes outside of Acapulco. Unfortunately it is now a baby Acapulco. But in those days it was paradise untouched and pristine. We lived in a little two bedroom cottage and the waves from the Pacific would pound on the wall each night. By the way our child learned fluent non accented Spanish within four months. I think Mexico is the BEST place to have a kid. The Mexicans loved the little toad (now 52 and father to my grand children) and he was ecstatically happy there. He was NOT happy to return to the states but he barely spoke English by this time and college was only 4 or 5 years away. At least we got to return to San Miguel for one year in the 90s. Strangely I never really liked Vallarta or the other low lying beach towns. But then I come from Fla. Which I dislike. Humidity and mosquitoes. Mildewhead2

    Would you say the heat and humidity of Puerto Vallarta would prevent you from considering the area as a permanent home?

    • @kinetickennons
      @kinetickennons  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would definitely say that. However, the place we lived in did not have a very good AC system so it costs us too much money to run our AC. If we found a place that had a better AC system I think we would consider it for sure. We love PV, but that humidity is brutal haha

    • @koviashuvik
      @koviashuvik 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is why I enjoy your vlogs so much--good honest perspectives!
      I don't recall the heat bothering me at all---way back in my 20's...but 45 years and 40 lbs later...just don't know.
      Logic says...as there is a happy and healthy indigenous population...a person would acclimate.
      Regardless, based much on your vlog and my extensive research from Portugal to Uraguay, I believe I will make a move to Lo de Marcos (for starters) in April or May.
      Maybe I'll spend all my time lying face up in shallow lapping waves just to stay cool....but, heck---that don't sound so bad!!!
      A quick note...don't miss the view from the top of the temple at Chichen Itza, the sunset from Isla Mujeres, the zocalo in Oaxaca, or the volcano from Comala!
