Hey, Dr. Williams. I know that this isn’t relevant to this video, but I just wanted to say that I am really grateful for all of these videos that you make, and please keep up the hard work!
Super unnerved by the prospect of the HAT test but this helps a lot!!! I've watched your videos and they've all been super helpful, thanks for doing the most
Dr, Williams, I am so thankful for these videos that you've made, they really made the whole application to Oxford so much less daunting! I am applying to English Language and Literature this year, and will take the ELAT on November 2nd, I will just do my best and enjoy the process🥰
Dr. Williams, Thank you so much for this video!! It was incredibly helpful. Do you have any other tips on how to manage stress whilst taking the exam? Very often, I end up having panic attacks in the middle of an exam which penalizes me and I'm afraid I will have one the day I take the TSA. Thank you very much and have nice evening! Valentina Nucci
Hi Valentina. You may need to talk to someone if you are having panic attacks. That sounds potentially quite serious and could be caused by underlying fears that could be managed or mitigated. It's not uncommon for test takers to have panic attacks, sadly, but it's not what we intend when designing these tests.
I’m taking the TSA soon and despite having started preparations in august, having done all the past paper with review and watching guide videos on TH-cam I’ve had trouble breaking into the competitive 70% or so result. How can I not be stressed if this is my prospect? How can I possibly improve for it? Anyways thank you for the content Dr. Williams, really appreciate all the help
Thanks for your comment. 70% is not necessarily the competitive level. It changes from year to year. And, more importantly, the weighting given to each question depends on how many people get it right. So grading your own performance is impossible. Also, the TSA is not everything. The test score is used alongside other factors to form a holistic assessment. So keep working on those questions you find particularly difficult, but be sure to be kind to yourself. You're not struggling because there is something wrong with you. The test is just very hard.
Hey Dr Williams may I ask if one still stands a chance of been admitted if predicted grades were slightly lower than the requirements?(eg. AAB instead of AAA.)Also if they do really well in a admissions test will they still have the chance of been admitted ? Thank you so much for your reply !!
Hi there. I'm afraid it is unlikely that an application would be progressed if the candidate was not on course to meet our entry requirements. If you obtain better than predicted grades, and do meet the entry requirements, you can apply then with grades in hand. All best wishes, Matt
Thank you so much !!I will surely give it a try if my actual A levels grades are able to meet the requirements (even thought I might have to enter uni a year later )
What a fabulous way to approach exams! I wish I’d known this when I was an undergraduate!
This was so useful for someone who has an admissions test this week!

Thank you for another fantastic insightful video
A great insight here, I wonder if we could test the difference in ability demonstrated controlling for everything but stress levels one day
