      Thank you for sharing this information. My puppy of 5 small breeds fell off the back of the chair and hit her tail and now it’s curled down. She was able to go potty this morning and did eat but when I touched her tail she did yip. There’s no blood or anything she’s running normally in the yard, but do not touch that tail! I’m going to give it a week or so and see if she is doing better. She doesn’t want to do her normal playing activities, but that’s understandable. 😓🤞❤️

    my puppy ended up with happy tail from ringworm. the tip was so itchy she kept biting at it, and ended up ripping it up (in the vets waiting room, thankfully). they tried taping a syringe tube over it to keep her from chewing, and when that failed, the plan was to tape a pool noodle around it so she couldnt get to it or hit it on anything. the only thing that helped at all was a cone as well as a donut collar for about a month!!

    I noticed my dog licking the end of his tail to the point of hair loss and even raw in the last week. Took him to the vet and was told he has a broken tail and he is licking because of the numbness he feels and will need a full amputation. Are there any other options I can try before resorting to surgery? He is on antibiotics. If that gets rid of the infection and I get a cone to prevent the licking can I save his tail?

      This is 2 years ago, but I’m going through the exact same thing with my 8 month old puppy right now. Did your dog’s tail on its own or did you have to amputate it? I was given the antibiotics today and hoping it will eventually fall off or heal on its own, without surgery.

    I have a beautiful Pomeranian. Just noticed something is wrong with his trail. It felt crooked and he didn’t want me to touch it. I see black crust around it and possible hair loss. It is hard to get a good looks at it but I thought I saw a small bone sticking out. Other than being sensitive to touching the tail he is acting normal. Worried he will also suffer from permanent hair loss if it is a serious injury. The vet can’t see us until after the weekend. So worried.

The doctor sent us home with pain meds and prayer for recovery as she has no broken bones. Just trauma to where her tail connects to the body. I have a question I have a bug I've been taking him to the same bed for over a year now we can't seem to get to the bottom of his problem with his tail I'd say it's still because I think it's bothering his nerves I've been to the spine of his back because he pees a lot and he poops a lot and then he falls over on his right leg leadership and I'm just very frustrated because the Betsy's all this that's going on and they still don't have a solution

    My dog is screams in extreme pain when his tail begins to lift / wag. Yesterday he was perfectly fine. This morning he woke up and i heard him crying, at first i had no idea why, but soon realised it was an issue with his tail, after assessing his tail, the pain seems to be at the top part of his tail..

    • @Bexyboo88
      @Bexyboo88 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bonkeytv8296 Aww no it's ok, it should get better on it's own, it took a few days to be back to normal, it can take a week, but just make sure they are resting it.
      I do not let her go into the water during colder weather now as that can trigger it, and also limit the amount she swims other times, trying to keep her in the shallow bits etc.. And also make sure when they have been in water to thoroughly dry the base of the tail. So far so good, we haven't had it happen again.
      For the 'happy tail' (where she has whacked her tail too hard against things so it makes the tip bleed)
      I bought some neoprene on a roll from amazon and I wrap that round the tail at the bottom (like a protective tube around the tail tip) and secure it with micropor tape. Ideally you want to keep the tip of the tail protected for at least 10 days to allow it to heal up properly. Things don't like to stay onto a very waggy tail so try to keep them from getting super overexcited.
      She has had it about 3 times, but since we moved our wooden kitchen table out of the kitchen a year ago (where she would stand and get excited when people come through the door) she's not had it since :)
      I hope your doggo feels better soon! x

      Has she been swimming or in water recently? It could be from that, they can get a swelling at the base of the tail which causes it to be limp and painful. This will get better after a few days to a week usually. I'm now careful to not let our Lab do too much swimming now if she hasn't done much beforehand, and don't let her go in the cold water over winter. Also, make sure to thoroughly dry them if they've been in water, especially at the base of the tail.
      I hope your doggo feels better soon! x

      Bexyboo88 no she hasn’t been swimming or anything, i’m starting to think my other dog bit her but how could a 12 week puppy bite it that hard whenever i do catch her biting it’s never really a very strong bite to hurt you it’s more of a “get off me” type of bite

    • @Bexyboo88
      @Bexyboo88 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Ferjay45 Ahh I see, hmm it could possibly be the puppy, but then again if it was bitten have you noticed any blood or marks on the tail?

    2 days later I notixed bad smells on his butt area, I thought i was bcoz of the tail. wasdown and then his poop was not really clean or left on his tail. I was so shocked to find out his tail has abses and it smell so bad. I took him to he vet the next day and he sprayed him with antibiotic spray also fsve him 3x1 antibiotics for 5 days.
    When the vet sprayed the antibiotoc spray, he said it should be very painfull, but my dog shown no reaction 😭he did not shown any pain😭😭😭😭
