  • Here is Part 2 where we finish this wet trail and check out the scary overlook!!
We take our stock Jeep Gladiator Rubicon and my dad’s Wrangler TJ to the Old Buzzard Roost Rd. (Goat trail). Not sure why people call it the Goat trial. Let us know if you know why. Part 1 showed how to get to the trail. You can get to the trail from I-40, do the trail, go to the Buzzard Roost Overlook, and continue on to I-40 again at a different exit.
If you want to support us on Patreon where you can gain access to our trail/camping locations, etc. as we will no longer be giving that information out to strangers and everyone we don’t know. We have tons of people asking and we want to make sure they are like minded people who will respect the land and not trash it. Also, it takes us a lot of time and research sometimes to accurately locate a lot of these places.

I’m always conflicted on whether or not to provide the locations. Although most can be found with some searching around online and TH-cam, sometimes I feel as though I shouldn’t share them all to attract too much attention to trails. I’m sure most people are decent and do the right things on trails but some don’t for sure. Lol

I will be driving through visiting Gatlinburg with my family in June. I will be in my 4 runner but I will have a bike rack with me. I will probably just come from the east side and drive up to the overlook and go back east. From your video, It looks like there’s plenty of room to U-turn and turn around at the overlook. I definitely want to do this trail, I generally travel by myself I have to be considered of the weather seeing some of the steep inclines. On my last adventure I had too skirt around several trees on a very narrow trail scraping the side of my truck on one as not to fall off the edge. I also had to cut the branches off of a tree That had fallen across the trail the night before as my pick up needs 8 1/2 feet of cleaners to get through with the racks on top. I love never knowing what to expect ahead of me and welcome it but you but have to use a little common sense also. Thank you for your video and the detail I'll be watching your other videos for other ideas.

sorry i felt compelled to say anything about it. but everywhere you go you see trash. I was hoping someone else had mentioned it. but i read all the comments and any replies i thought might lead to it and nothing. it wasn't that i thought y'all were trashing up the woods but the fact someone could watch your video and come out the other side thinking it was acceptable to chuck things out the window. anyhow, that was the second video of that trail i watched and it looked more challenging than the first one did maybe it was just wetter. @@appalachhaun_adventures

Great video! We ran this solo probably a week or so before you guys in the snow. I didn't get all the good action shots ya'll did. It's humbling seeing the challenging sections you conquered and comparing it to driving up through the snow and ice and some of the difficult sections we ran into. Had to use the locker on the rubicon a couple of times. I'd heard it called the "Goat Trail" and it really does look like a trail only a billygoat would climb. Another local called it the "Rock Garden", but Old Buzzards Roost trail is definitely steep and slick. I'll try to put a link to your channel when it posts. -Jon@StartBuildingYourDreams

Great overview of a road project that should never have happened. But since some of our politicians knew a road was being put in thru that general area, they bought up all that land in the gorge for cheap and then sold it for a premium and forced the project through that area against the advice of all the engineers. They said it would always be a problem maintaining it. And it is.
