My point is, if Hamas stops offensive action, Israel will stop offensive action. But if Israel stops offensive action, Hamas will _continue_ offensive action (happened many many times before. 2006 for example, when Israeli unilaterally pulled out of Gaza).

When Israel identifies a building that is being used to house terrorists it notifies the residents of that building to leave in enough time to safely evacuate. Now even though this seems counter productive because the residents can then tell the terrorists the information, it is the human thing to do.
