The audio in this video was recorded with in-ear binaural microphones. If you wear headphones, your mind won't be blown, but it will go, "woah, that's cool."
I'm also the producer for the Winding Road TH-cam Channel:
    / windingroadmagazine
Here on TheTopher, I'm known for putting a camera on my face and driving cars. Whether it's about any of my personal cars or reviews on weekly press vehicles, the goal is to give you an idea of what a certain car is like to drive or live with. Most of my videos are filmed in POV, with my clothes on, and (for like the 5th time) with in-ear binaural audio. Which, if I haven't made it clear yet, is why you should wear headphones. Because of the whole "woah" factor. It's there, trust me. Try it, it's pretty nuts. Or don't. As long as you whitelist me on your adblocker I'm okay with whatever you do or don't do with regards to headphone usage. That is all. Oh and I guess you should also probably subscribe. Why are you still reading this, you should be watching the video. With headphones! Hah, had to sneak that in there one more time. Later!

I've watched a shit ton of car reviews, but this "night drive" format is fucking phenomenal. It's ridiculously, shockingly immersive. And between your smooth voice and the interior car noises, there's the slightest hint of ASMR, oddly enough. These videos really elevate your work above a good portion of the regular, run-of-the-mill reviewers on TH-cam.

@japanwatchconnection Was about to say this lol. The ambient interior lights on some BMWs and Mercedes are actual interior lighting. Not just screen and buttons with lights that have existed for like 20 years or something. And you feel really cozy with the warm ambient lights going all around the car interior. So good.

Our 2018 Honda Accord EX-L stickered for $30,865, including destination. Over the course of a year, we added 13,302 miles to our odometer. In this condition, the Edmunds TMV Calculator valued the Accord at $23,815 based on a private-party sale.
That works out to 22.8% depreciation, which is slightly worse than the fleet average of 22% average. The depreciation level is even worse when you consider that the majority of our cars pass the 20,000-mile mark. Edmund's longterm Accord

@@ahhpoop4509... Who says the TLX isn't worthless already. If that's its one trick (including A-spec) then why bother? An Accord Touring gets you 90% of the way there, just no badge and initial perception from others.

    • @theconformist2399
      @theconformist2399 5 ปีที่แล้ว +76

@@K03sport You're not wrong, but one of Acura's main selling points is that phenomenal SH-AWD system. If Honda were to offer the same SH-AWD system (which they do not... Honda's AWD system is inferior to Acura's), that would render Acura even more obsolete.
This is just typical behavior from companies with luxury divisions, be it Honda or Toyota. Mazda offers their full showcase of AWD systems in their cars because they have nothing to hold back for their luxury division (which they don't have).
Toyota nerfed the Avalon to prevent it from putting the Lexus ES in an awkward spot too. Same logic, basically.

This is the exact car that I bought, tinted windows being the only extra. I couldn't agree more with your thoughts on this one. I had a 2016 Accord Coupe V6 6 MT that was stolen and man was I bummed out. With the discontinuation of the V6, and the Coupe, I was worried that the 4 cylinder Turbo would be a disappointment. Not one bit. To me it pulls even harder and there is that lightness to the car that you mentioned. And hats off to Honda for continuing to support us die hard manual guys, pairing it again with the more powerful motor in a sedan as they did back in 2007 (I had that one too!). To add to the review: It does indeed feel like it has more horsepower than 252. This is likely because it is so torquey and that torque is available at 1500 rpms. As far as gas mileage goes, I've gotten 31.5 combined over my 3 months of ownership. I've had trips as high as 37.2. If you turn off econ and drive spiritedly it is considerably worse but still in the mid to low 20s.

I had a '20 Accord Touring 2.0T that I absolutely loved. I drive a lot and the mileage started creeping up on it, so I was planning to replace it with a '23 or '24 Accord Touring 2.0T later this year. Unfortunately, Honda decided to scrap this awesome powertrain for the 11th generation Accord and now the top engine choice is a lame 204 hp hybrid. I found a Certified Pre-Owned '21 Accord Touring 2.0T with 4k miles on it and decided to buy it instead, because losing 27 lb ft of torque and 48 horsepower in no way feels like an upgrade to me. I'll keep this one for a few years and see where I go from there. Unless Honda offers a more powerful Accord, I'll likely not be buying another Honda. It's a shame they're dropping such a great powertrain. I know it's not a super fast sedan but the 2.0T package is plenty quick and very reasonable to maintain. I get well over 30 mpg on the highway which is most of my driving. Hard to beat this package.

Only morons would redline it thinking it'll go faster. It won't. I'd say just stick with your high revving NA motors and rev 'em out to your hearts content.

That works out to 22.8% depreciation, which is slightly worse than the fleet average of 22% average. The depreciation level is even worse when you consider that the majority of our cars pass the 20,000-mile mark. Edmund's longterm Accord

I have a 2018 Accord sport 2.0.L with the 6MT. I agree with basically every statement that you made about this car. Honda has made this car for every type of buyer, and yes the 2.0 sport manual is the enthusiast's car. I love my Accord, I put a PRL stage one intake on it (really amplifies the turbo sounds). Also, the Goodyear touring tires that they put on these cars are not very good. Mine were to the wear bars at 14,000 miles. I put a set of Toyo Proxes sport tires on it and it made a noticeable difference in how the car drives. Great review on the car!

I wonder if Goodyear realizes the damage they are doing to their reputation by supplying such lousy OEM tires. Well I mean according to Honda they didn't sell enough 9th gen Accord coupes to justify a new one. That's why the 10th gen Accord is a sedan, but with coupe like roofline. Also why you can get a manual again with the bigger engine, something that was only reserved for 8th and 9th generations. That being said, a resurrection of the Prelude with this engine would be neat, but enough people wouldn't buy one :/

Stephen Hendricks - I agree to a degree. The new Camry is an improvement over its predecessor, but the last car was so mundane, anonymous and lifeless that it set a pretty low bar for the next car to jump over. In V6 trim it’s quick, but it doesn’t feel much quicker than a Highlander or Sienna minivan, and it’s essentially the same V6 engine the Camry has used since 2008. To put it plainly, I just don’t like it, but I can see why others might. I’d definitely take one over a crossover. That’s for sure.
