    Somethings to add make sure to only run the ski 30-90 seconds because the carbon wear ring doesn’t get water when hose is hooked up and it will over heat.
    Also if you pull the oil pump tube out a little you can hold the throttle and hold the start button the ski will crank only and this will allow excess trapped oil in the passages to be flowed down to the bottom of the pan then tube pump again!

    Forgot to manually crank the engine ( depress throttle and start button) doing this allows engine oil to flow into oil filter compartment. Do this until ALL all oil is out.

    I got one of those last week, a similar pump failed after about 10 changes. Hopefully this one is more durable, but compared to dealer oil change prices ,you could buy a new pump for every oil change.

    Next time you have the deck off and you need to run the engine for a long time try pointing a hose through the intake grate towards the front to get water down the shaft to the carbon seal. You can reach down and feel the steel flange that spins on the carbon seal and see how much cooler it is.

    Do oil changes after a ride. Already to a good temp for removal without stressing the carbon seal

    Per Users Manual, you should not be running it more then 2 minutes - Drive line seal has no cooling when watercraft is out of water. Please correct me if I am wrong?

    Good way to wreck your carbon seal. The manual says to never run it over 90 seconds even if it's on the hose, because the seal gets no cooling.

    • @larky368
      @larky368 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      5 minutes! That thing must have been red hot. All you have to do is spray through the intake grate to get some water to the carbon seal.

      Yikes..Carbon seal..spendy fix..no need to run, eva..just turn it over, holding throttle down for count to 5-10 at start, and 2-3X during oil removal..should get 2-2.5 qts..and replace the star-nut O-ring on the Cap, also👍

    • @bobsudeyko4088
      @bobsudeyko4088  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It should just spin on to a little beyond hand tight. There is a rubber seal that also needs to be in place where the filter meets the engine. I have not noticed a gap once it’s tightened a little beyond snug.

      @@jrdaviskid no there is just the one rubber ring. It’s not really an o ring as it is flat. The old ring that is already on there needs to be removed. Fairly simple. Particularly after you have done it once. Just make sure at the end of it all that the dip stick measurement is right. Let it run for 3 to4 minutes to get an accurate reading. If to much suck a little out. At the dealership the cost is high but even more of an issue is that you might have to weight weeks without your machines.
