    • @GriffinRB
      @GriffinRB 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thank you!
      I think Armored Shark is pretty alright. I would personally play either Gunde or Armored Shark. I think Gunde is a bit more flexible in general but armored shark can be summoned off coelacanth which is a good consideration. They both serve the same purpose in the standard combo. But basically I would play one or the other but they both have their merits.

      @@GriffinRBhey, first of all congrats on making day 2! Secondly id like to ask your opinion on a couple of tech options, for example Abyssturge instead of the third Abysspike, I know it's worse to open going first but it has a couple of utilities in recycling your infantry or other cards you may need. Another card id like to ask you about is Abyssocea, you seem to be familiar with it and it's another way to get to your neptabyss just with abyssteus so id like to know how you feel about it. And lastly id just like to know if you could make a video about playing into certain types of boards going second with your engine as I think it's not impossible but it's hard to make the right decisions for me currently. Thanks!

    • @GriffinRB
      @GriffinRB 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@LamboJ20 Thank you I appreciate that!
      To answer your questions, I think Abyssturge could likely be used for some lines but I generally think it would have a hard time in the list. It wouldn't do much when drawn and its use cases might not be high enough. But I could imagine it being used for combo lines.
      For Ocea, I haven't personally experimented with it much but I want to. I think it's cool because it makes Teus a one-card combo. The reason I didn't play it for Niagara was because I thought it might be too much of a handtrap magnet and uses the normal summon off being searched with Teus. I think the Coel lines are a bit more flexible around that since you can make it target-proof with a Pyke on the field. But basically I think Ocea is good and if you want to play it you should, I would just consider not playing Coel.
      I could consider making a video but I'm not really a content creator and not sure the best way to showcase that since their are so many potential board states and how you approach it will depend on your hand. What I did to better learn to use the new cards was to just throw myself into some games and allow myself to make mistakes and try and learn from those. If you have any thoughts on what you'd like me to do to help you in a video I am open to hearing about it so I can try.

    I missed a toad engine. You can definitely use it to make a toad in the third summon.

    • @GriffinRB
      @GriffinRB 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can make toad on the third summon with swap and ice barrier stuff but I already play some bricks that I don't think I want to play the ice barrier spell. I can currently summon toad on 5 which plays around nib, which is the main reason we make toad anyways. Having toad pre-normal summon is strong but I am not sure if it is needed with minstrel at 3

    • @KayoGiovanni
      @KayoGiovanni 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GriffinRB it's a good point, but with the swap frog and even a substitoad you can even not use toad to negate stuffs so it stay in the board. It's very strong. And summoning a toad in the standby is not bad specially if you have a virtue trap set. It became food for the trap.
      About the side deck. Have you ever heard about a trap card called "white howling?"
      It is just broken. If you control a water monster you can banish a spell card for your opponent graveyard and them all spells in your opponent side of the field are negated. Not only the one he activated but all others who he tries to activate.
      If he plays a dark hole your Mizuchi just negates it. Then if he tries again with something like a Raigeki you just chain to it and it's done. Everything is negated and your toads are there just for traps and monsters.
      It doesn't negate the first spell but that's why your Mizuchi is there.

      I haven't experimented much with Tidal and I want to because I love the D. Rules. I think he provides some neat lines and flexibility but overall don't think there are things I would currently want to take out to put him in for and I don't want to increase the deck count. • @GriffinRB
      @GriffinRB 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@gunx12632 It depends on the Chummy.
      For Fuwaloss, you try and summon Moulinglacia and Megalo to search for the spell negate to put them on having as few cards as possible. Not the most ideal setup but Fuwa sort of eats us alive. Crossouts in the side is something I would change going forward and think would really help with that problem
      For Purulia, you will likely give them one of the Netpabyss and can give them another from Moulin to make them discard again, but other than those two you can get away with making a slightly weaker board without using Teus and summon mostly from extra and graveyard.

    This is honestly a great list. Coelcanth makes sense and makes the deck pretty consistent. I think playing 3 pike is a good way to work around coelacanths downsides. There could some adjustments though. Instead of one for one, think small world would have been better as the cards do the same thing, and small world gets to anything. Also would have cut the mikizuchi for a prosperity for more consistency. I think playing the searable trap is enough. Also he could have play aybss keeper in the extra if he drew the coelacanth to special it from hand.
    Also there could have been crossouts and shirter in the side. I dont think there was enough answers for that card as it shuts this deck down. Overall i great list though. I loved the theory and explanations. Hopefully when this deck gets the new support it can do a bit better in the format. Great job making it to day 2. 😊

    • @GriffinRB
      @GriffinRB 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Thank you! I haven't thought about prosperity since the extra deck all feels really important, but I will play around with prosp for 3 going first. Mizuchi is mandatory in my opinion. Beating super poly and dark ruler is absolutely amazing.
      I did mess around with Abyss keeper but it came up so rarely it didn't feel worth it.
      The one thing that one for one does that small world doesn't is use my normal. I found that normal summoning prince going second and having it get removed can be tough, but one for one just slaps another right down. I have considered small world and can mess around with it as well.
      I would play crossouts going forward, not sure if I would side shifter as well but crossouts for the mulcharmies would be really great.
      I think the new main deck and XYZ monster will be great additions to the deck!

  • @DeepfriedVampire

    Could run abyss keeper instead of a giaos of mermail link2 so the lv7 fish king is playable when drawing it.

    • @GriffinRB
      @GriffinRB 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I did test out abyss keeper but found that it was so rare that I could put two bodies on the board and needed to go into Coel in hand that I ended up cutting it. It certainly works in edge cases to make the fish feel less bricky but it didn't come up at all in testing.
      Another thing I found important about running two of each rank 7, forgot to mention in the video, is that I was respecting and builds that were splashing Kashtira since losing a one of Poseidra or Gaios can make it next to impossible to play into those boards. Having an extra meant it never got taken out of my extra, which did come up in two of my matches.

    • @DeepfriedVampire
      @DeepfriedVampire 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GriffinRB solid reasoning. yeah I thought about that abyss keeper not coming up as much (also has a good 2nd banish effect im sure you are aware off) but not being able to link climb into mermail king does hurt cuting one of your extra deck flex spots for abyss keepers niece situations.
      I tend to agree. we kinda want to plug every brick hole if possible in the competitive scene who knows maybe if it comes up enough :D Coel is easy enough to discard anywayz.
      Those extra rank7s ah against kashtira I get it and good choice. remember you can also get them back from banishment and or GY with abyss-sting. I wouldn't worry much about kashtira to the point that it would take so much extra deck space.
      but I respect your logic +1
      Good deck list man.

    • @GriffinRB
      @GriffinRB 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@DeepfriedVampire Yeah my thought is that if you see the Coel and don't need it you can discard it. Abyss keeper is a great card for sure just didn't come up for me in testing. But it's possible someone else might find more value and a better way to paly it.
      The only thing about Kash is they banish facedown and because it targets you can't get them back in that instance. What I was finding was in some games I wasn't able to get to the equip spell and already used on Poseidra and needed a second. You are right though Kash isn't something to really fear but I feel like a magnet for that archetype in my local meta so I wanted to respect it a little more than I maybe needed to.
      But thank you I appreciate the feedback it will only help me going forward!

      Hmm I think yes his deck can use some tough decisions on cutting one of the 3 offs but mouling and mezuchi aint one of them. Mouling is just too good so what if you draw it? Now you have 4 cards in hand and a free search for something else like megalo.
      Going 2nd you side it out.
      Virtue trap however eh its a strong card i would still cut it. Overall ive seen worse builds, his build is pretty good. gladly he doesnt run armor shark as well. I do have an
      solution for him might spill that in my upcoming video.

    • @GriffinRB
      @GriffinRB 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I think that while those cards can be bricky, they are all worth playing for their super high power. Abyss-Sting can serve as a really nice extender and Moulin is very strong.
      Almost all Mermail lists will be playing a supplemental engine to some degree, whether that be armored stuff, Coel, Ocea, or something else. I think Coel offers the most flexibility and is honestly the only card that feels like a true brick.
      Another thing about Moulinglacia is that it is the best option we have into Fuwalos. It allows you to take two more cards out of there hand and with Mizuchi you can additionally set up a spell negate.
      I could consider maybe siding Mizuchi but everything else has been amazing and hardly ever feels like a brick.

    • @GriffinRB
      @GriffinRB 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@DeepfriedVampire I personally like Virtue Stream because it's one of the only lines under shifter and helps in games where you go second but can't kill and you need to set up something to stop your opponent on turn three. Thank god a Mermail player who mained Coelacanth. If you are playing Mermails and NOT running Coelacanth. You are in fact playing the deck wrong. It plays through Droll. And for all the naysayers....Mermails topped. Y'all keep hating on the best Water deck in Yugioh IDGI.

      @@FoxyGamerS2 imagine droll in a format where the top decks don't care about it + it turns off your own mulch cards
