I remember learning how to shave with a bladeless razor! Just shaving cream and a softy razor with the blade removed. Great stuff- I always shave in the shower. lots of hot water to soften up my whiskers. =D I remember as a kid using an electric Norelco triple head machine. I felt like a king! =D Great stuff Ian!

Cheers John. I find a trip to the barbers to have a hot towel shave is another great way to make you feel like a king!

I have the very same beard trimmer! I'm on my third one too! You can lock the comb out of the way by flipping it over and clicking it into the notch on the back.
I use the trimmer before I have a shower then wetshave with a safety razor when I get out. I do like the feeling of having a shave with a new blade. I keep telling myself that I'll buy a straight razor one day, but having seen how much a decent one costs it'll be a while yet.

Question for you Steve. How did your old trimmers die. Mine had this weird thing when they were on their way out, of running in two speeds. It works at full power for a few seconds, then powers down and works at a slower rate for a few seconds. Then just keeps running that cycle. When that happens, I know it's time for a new one. I never use the lock on the back, as it stops the head from flexing, which for me makes for a less enjoyable shave.
I've had my eye on a decent cut throat razor for years. I narrowed what I wanted down to either a Thiers Issard or a Dovo from Solingen.
This is a great cut throat razor to start with. amzn.to/3HUTHIS but you'll need to buy your blades separately.

@@essentialhandyman They died exactly as you describe it. I tried taking the first one apart to see if I could replace the battery but it fell to pieces. I managed to squeeze a bit more life out of the second, but I had to use it while it was plugged in to get it to work properly.

Great video buddy you’ve got far too many gadgets I’ve only got an old big razor🤣🤣

The words 'too many' and 'gadgets' should NEVER be used in the same sentence!!!

Good on you Ian, great videos, thank you. But you should have let the beard grow, it would look great. If not a beard then a moustache would look good, so how about trying something hairy?

Thanks for watching and commenting Medomsley. Alas I tried growing a moustace years ago, while raising money for Movember. It was unbearably itchy after about two weeks. I vowed never to let the stubble grow that long again. Now I just support those doing Movember, instead of doing it myself.

@@essentialhandyman That's a shame Ian, it takes about 5 weeks to mature and the itch soon goes, so will always hope you have the urge to try again. Would look good 🙏
