Great short, and awesome music at the end. I've been showing Pewee's Playhouse to my Grandchildren. They love it! I have come to think of Paul Reubens as an equal to "Mr. Rogers" with a slice of anarchy thrown in.
Original, interesting, suspenseful, and visually great!
This is great. Anybody who has truly followed Reubens career would know he has great acting ability and its about time the establishment starts to recognize and give him some roles. Every genre from children show to comedy to serious roles with Johnny Depp. He has the chops, give him the roles.

I hope they make a long version of this! I love it! I think there might be a really interesting back story to karl and dr. Ferryman... The overall story line is great, its nice to see a sci fi film exploring new ideas and concepts. The vintage look and the choice of music is also awesome.
That was disturbing to see the guy get disconnected like that. Yeah its a dark movie, but it made me rethink some things.

Beautiful...absolutely amazing! If nobody would interfere with the integrity of it, I'd love this to be a full length feature.
OMG! Stop saying this aught to be a feature length film!!!!!!!!! Nope, nope, nope. Two hours is so ridiculously unnecessary; is your imagination so weak you need someone else to explain only one possible extrapolation from this premise? Are you so uncomfortable with thinking for yourself??? This works so perfectly as a short; it is intellectually stimulating. People woefully underestimate the power of short stories and short films. This has such exquisite acting, directing, composition, design, color story, music and sound production. The plot is impeccably delivered in the sixteen and a half minutes; the pacing is superb. Please, don't denigrate this perfection by comparing it to a feature full-length film. Many exceptionally excellent things come in small packages. Appreciate the gift; when presented with a flawless diamond, don't whine that it's not bigger. Bigger and longer often equals less succinct, unclear, scattered, confused, even gaudy or painful. This film is short, sweet, and to the point; it is an absolutely fantastic example of the best kind of sci-fi: that which leaves you satisfied, but still wondering. Ten out of five stars.

Fascinating concept and gorgeous looking. Paul Reubens forever! As far as final moments concerning Paul Reubens go though, it's hard to beat the extended final moments of Amilyn the vampire.

I would say a fair bit of ourselves isn't just memories, but brain chemistry, genetics, and other factors.
This was so great! I wish there were more fresh stories like this being made.
As for continuing this story, I wouldn't mind it being a series. A movie wouldn't allow as much exploration. With a good budget and a channel that believes in it, we could have a cool sci-fi detective story on our hands. Imagine the cops & Doc become a team, using the device on dead folks to solve crimes, all while wondering if the dead can truly be saved or if technology has become so scarily real that we can no longer differentiate a soul from a program. Also, NineInchNails MUST do the music.

Fabtanbulous! Three years old, and I just now found this! Not sure who M. Francis Wilson is, but you can bet within 24 hours I will have found and read whatever he/she has online! Great film! Superb acting! One thing: not sure I found it totally believeable that a such a young cop would be allowed that much power. But then, this is a short flick, a video short story, sometimes they cut to the chase quickly. Overall, 10 stars and a big Thumbs Up!
I've been waiting for the Singularity since 1969 though it wasn't named yet. Now, I'm 60 and I hear it may happen between 2029 (ha) and 2040 (hmm). I wonder if I can stay alive long enough? Or, if I can find where the experiments are and volunteer! Even if only a teensy tiny bit of "me" is digitally preserved, who knows what will be useful one day soon!?

Feels like a way distant prequel of the 6th Day. Taking human memories and transferring them into digital data. these two can have a connection. I like it!

At comic con someone asked in the Q&A "is something strange going on with the cops?" - the response was that they have a connection to the corporation mentioned in the film and that there's Easter eggs that are clues to that mystery.

Superb shot and Paul was excellent in his role, as expected.
I interpret it on a more personal level in that it challenges the concept of a conscience, the realization that you are alive and that you are experience yourself. It would be a frightening concept that a machine can not only replicate your person, but your own sense of existence as well, a mechanical "you" who is just as convinced of of experiencing the same feelings and actions that the biological "you" has.
Very cool. Kinda like an updated more dramatic and intense Max Headroom. I enjoyed it. Good use of one of the Ghost tracks from NIN in the credits. Fit the mood perfectly.

Fantastic acting (the lighting provides great affordable “special effects”). This beats anything that I have seen in the theaters recently. Best of all it did not require me to pay $20.00 for a ticket and goofy glasses. I misheard Dr. Ferryman’s name at first, I thought it was a play on Richard Feynman’s name. Obviously I tend to over think these things. A more likely explanation is that this name was a reference to the ferryman from mythology who ferried the dead to Hades.
Don't unplug your hardrives before you turn off the system. Files could get corrupted. The lady was far too hasty.

This is incredibly well done. They should do a Blade Runner remake and have the same director direct it. Scary that this technology may exist someday, or maybe it does already but its not ethical so it hasn't been implemented. Bravo.
