To understand the story in EXO's "Ko Ko Bop" MV, you have to connect the story in "Ko Ko Bop" to the story in their "Lucky One" MV. "Ko Ko Bop" may look trippy and crazy, but if you understand EXO's storyline you will see that everything was done for a specific reason.
There are 8 members in "Ko Ko Bop." This MV came out in 2017 and it was the first MV where their Chinese member, Lay, was unable to participate because of the political issues between the Korean and Chinese government at the time.
I can see how people might think that Ko Ko Bop is a drug they are all taking and that is why they are acting like they are high and kind of in a loopy drugged-like state. But to really understand what is happening in "Ko Ko Bop," you have to understand what is happening in their "Lucky One" MV. In "Lucky One" EXO has been captured by the Red Force who is doing experiments on EXO to try and figure out what makes them special, and to find a way to prevent them from finding and protecting the Tree of Life, etc. The members all use their powers to escape from the government facility and this is where theories say that the story in "Ko Ko Bop" picks up right after they have escaped in "Lucky One".
The blue Ko Ko Bop drink that Suho mixes and the members drink -- which I now think is connected to the blue drink we see Kai drinking in their "Don't Fight the Feeling" MV -- and the pills or wafers you see them eating, was originally thought to be an elixir that is helping the members to detox from the drugs the Red Force gave them when they were being held against their will in the "Lucky One" MV.
According to SM Entertainment the story in "Ko Ko Bop" also shows the members soon after they have arrived on Earth and they are all experimenting with their powers.
That is why in "Ko Ko Bop" you see Kai with the power of teleportation using his power to levitate and you see him do the "treadmill" move next to the car. Suho with the power to control water jumps into the water and disappears, and later appears inside the washing machine, etc. Xiumin has the power of snow/ice/frost so he is using his power to create a cloud to fill the glass. Sehun uses his power to control wind to make objects float in the air. D.O. accidentally uses his power of strength/force and splits open the ground when he falls down. You see Chen with the power of thunder/lightning/electricity playing with his power. Baekhyun use his power of light as he throws the ball in the air and creates that huge flash of light, and Chanyeol uses his power of fire to create the fireworks when he bounces the ball into the sky. The car also looks like it's driving by itself because they are using their powers to control the car, etc.
Their unbridled use of their powers and the haphazard way they play with their environment around them can be explained by the fact that they were drugged in "Lucky One" and while they are still dealing with the drugs in their system, in "Ko Ko Bop" their inhibitions are lowered and they use their powers without caution.
Those tattoos you can see are fake, but like everything SM does, they aren't just random tattoos, they are specific images and messages as part of EXO's storyline.
So part of their story goes: The members were trapped in the maze by the Red Force in their "Overdose" MV and while they were trapped they were captured and moved to the government facility in "Lucky One" and after escaping in "Lucky One" we see them detoxing in "Ko Ko Bop."
However, since then, we now have more information after EXO's "Obsession" MV part of the story was released, where we have discovered that the Red Force has created X-EXO clones. So some theories now think that instead of "Ko Ko Bop" being about the EXO members, it might be showing us X-EXO. In "Obsession," the members in the bright colors with the crazy hair and makeup were the X-EXO clones and the members in the all black outfits were EXO. So now some theories think that maybe because "Ko Ko Bop" is so colorful, that it is showing us X-EXO right after they were brought to life, and this is their first time out in the world. So X-EXO are playing with their powers and trying to figure out how they work, and they are getting acclimated to their environment, etc.
But, as you can see, to make it even more difficult to follow the story, nothing is in chronological order. As fans we have to become detectives and analyze everything that EXO does in order to try and figure out where each piece fits within the larger storyline. Although, at this point it's only theories and educated guesses. With every new release from EXO it adds another piece to their story. Sometimes that new piece helps to confirm what we thought was happening and other times it turns everything on its head and we realize that what we thought was happening wasn't even close. We can only hope that someday SM will finally explain everything, so we will know whether what we have been thinking all along is correct.

So you should know that EXO have a unique concept since debut that they use in everything they do. They are aliens coming from EXOPlanet to Earth to protect the Tree of Life from their enemy The Red Force. And they each have a different superpower. You should keep this in mind when watching EXO because everything they do is related to their storyline.
Here's a little explanation about the Ko Ko Bop:
So this MV's timeline happened after "Overdose" & "Lucky One" where They were drugged by the Red force after being kidnapped and put in a maze. So now, all of their superpowers are out of control because they went ko ko bop.
You can see in this MV:
- Xiumin (Ice/Frost) making the little cloud on the ice glass
- Kai (Teleportation) sitting on a floating cloud
- Chen (Thunder/Lightning) playing with electricity cables

Baekhyun always starts a song because he's the most popular member, believe it or not. He's making a bank in Korea. He's 100% a stan attractor, along with Kai, but Kai is more geared towards the west.
Do Kyungsoo is just incredible in every sense. He is one of the few vocalists who can make your heart flutter and cause a storm of emotions. He manages his deep voice and sweet timbre with such ease that the same part can sound completely different "starting very roughly and ending unrealistically gently". Kyungsoo's unique voice gives each song a unique charm. I'm ready to listen to his voice as much as I want.! Even when Kyungsoo just speaks, he wants to listen and listen to endlessly, such a pleasant voice.

Well, first of all, EXO songs or every comeback they have has a different sound, so sometimes you don't know what to expect. Fire as always. And you did well in recognizing the members too. What I did was familiarize myself with the voices before faces. Just like u said last time, Xiumin looks like G-dragon, and he looks like a cat cos of that pretty eyes, lol. Chen, u can never go wrong with that voice, but as for the face when he smiles, his corner lip goes up like a cartoon. Suho always looks like a gentleman tho, one of the softer voices of EXO.
And I am happy that you are loving D.O's voice. It is just pure heaven. As expected of one of our main vocalists.

To say that in EXO someone is better and someone is worse is simply IMPOSSIBLE because absolutely every participant is unrealistically talented, this is literally an IDEAL GROUP. Every EXO group and solo album is on a completely different level to this day, even after 10 years of career. I am absolutely not afraid to say that EXO is a real K-POP, now there are countless groups in the fourth generation, but they absolutely do not stand out in any way, trying to focus more and more on the West and POP music, thereby becoming monotonous and disposable. EXO is the only band in the entire K-POP industry, by the way, to this day where literally every member sings amazingly, including rappers and dancers.
