It's intereting they gave you a back brace. They never even mentioned it to me. They didn't even mention walking lol. Just were concerned with the bathing/swimming only. I'm done with my 3rd week now. No pain first 2 weeks, 2nd week just minor pain. This week neuropathy is better in my feet until this evening lol. Laying down is the worst still - it causes me foot numbness. There is zero nerve pain anymore though.

about two years before they finally accepted me for surgery, spinal stenosis, micro laminectomy L4, L5 couple of weeks before driving. I have a lot of weakness. I don't remember much pinching at three weeks, today I am totally healed.
I was back to work and three months I believe at part-time and very light duty six months later I was walking a lot of steps and was mostly fully functional, but it's still took a year for me to gain all my strength back.
in my case, it's just a 1 inch incision. I know there are many different varieties in healing from different variations of back and surgery. All I know is keep optimistic and keep moving. I started walking about an eighth of a mile at three weeks. My doctor said I should've waited till about five weeks but for me working on my body and my mind is what I needed most. I found a small pond with a trail around it and just started walking distances and then, eventually walked all the way around. It helped my body heal. It's a traumatic thing being in pain. also depression, so I made sure that I worked on my mind as well as my body just going outside and sitting and having coffee at my table and remaining in prayer and thankfulness. Was the best thing I could do. hang in there and get used to your new normal for a while.
May the Lord bless you and keep you, the Lord make his face shine upon you, and be gracious to you, the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give your peace
