I opened this because I'm about to start planking on my 30" Cutty Sark model. I've never done that type of planking before and was afraid to start in the wrong place and work myself into a corner(s).He's certainly given me some ideas I hadn't encountered before. His craftsmanship is excellent for the tools he's using. Very old school, though some of the cutting he does by hand would be difficult if not impossible with a powered scroll saw. The music is a little monotonous, but at least you can turn it off and not miss any of the non existant dialogue. Frankly, I wish there was some to explain reasons for some of what he's doing. Like filling little barrels with fruit juice or gun powder and then burying them two decks down, never to be seen again. It would be one thing if it was a cut away model that you could see inside, but it doesn’t appear that way. Or if the upper decks could be removed to expose the lower ones but theres cables going between, which will render that impossible, so I don't much see the point other than something purely personal. It would be interesting to know where he obtains such detailed plans. Obviously, they must be available as copies from the original as those look to be. Thanks for the video. I'm sure I'll be watching more in the near future. Regards from Canada's banana belt. 🤞🇨🇦🍌🥋🇺🇦🕊🇩🇪🏁👍
Ok, I just started watching the video and I had ti stop to say you had me at lofting. I've never seen anybody loft a small wooden boat. I love building wooden boats, but they always come in prefab pieces you just clip and put it where it says. I'm impress. Can't wait to see you do the planking, putting the hanging and lodging knees. Put the carbines, the bulwark, laying the deck! I see you're working with a body plan. Do you also have a sheer and halfbreadth plan? That's awesome.
Beautiful work! Such attention to detail and craftsmanship, and also to what goes into building one for real on a large scale. Really makes one appreciate how much work went into them. And then a pirate goes and and sinks it! Arrrrr. Pirates 🏴☠️
Two ships being built and rebuilt now on TH-cam are the Arabella(acorn to arabella).. and the Tallyho(Sampson Boat co.) So if you want to see a New build of a wooden boat and a rebuild of a 100 year old one check them out...
Noone mentioning the fact that you put real wine and real gunpowder in the barrels at that point it's not a model ship, just a miniature ship for miniature people
I built the Halifax model just like these was starting with the rigging which I feel was the most difficult part of the build came home from work and found the bow crushed masts broken my wife was dusting /cleaning and off the work table it went and gravity took over lol Couldn’t repair it and kept it as a shipwreck model lol
Hello, firstly congratulations on the excellent work, I am fascinated by the final result. Would you happen to make the projected measurements available on a sheet? If so, any files or something like that?

Did i just see real wine and gunpowder go into those barrells? That is incredible!! This build is literally a scaled down version of the real thing.

I've always been curious how these were made, though in my case for applications in dioramas for Viking houses and the like.

Wahnsinn, wie originalgetreu Sie bauen, aber wozu der ganze Aufwand, wenn alles verborgen ist am Ende?
