@@haydenschneider3Do you have a snowblower for yours? I have a blower for a 110/200 series but would love to have one for a 300 series. Speaking of I got the 317 put back together finally today.
Boy real nice 322 motor sounds real strong,, a full tank of fresh gas and a good amount of seafoam in the tank and i think that small excel hesitation will go away i think anyway,, that machine there would be a perfect machine for a restore project.. real nice my friend..
I still have my 322 I bought new in 1988. From the video, yours is a LOT louder than mine. I assume your muffler has deteriorated internally, or it's just an anomaly of the camera mike. Problems over the years? It loved to throw belts on the mower deck - of course at the most inopportune times. Also, It would start fine and run for a while, then start to miss, then have no power at all when it warmed up. That, too, eventually traced to a coil that was bad internally and was temperature sensitive. At the time I purchased it, my dealer told me that Yanmar came up with this engine by using the lower end of one of their diesels and just swapping the head to convert it to gas. The bottom end should be bulletproof, probably why I still have it 32 years later! Oh, and I'm 6-foot. I had to do some modification to the whole seat setup so I wouldn't get cramps trying to mow the lawn. Back AND up.
Can you tell me how to test(exact steps) each coil? My 322 runs good then just shuts off after mowing for hour or two. Let cool down and starts right up. Coil issues??
I bought a 89 322 about year ago, it run and mowed great there till here this Spring, it will fire right up and run & mow just fine for 30--45 minutes and then just quit! Seems like you give it a few minutes 15--20 , It will fire up and go on, I been just getting it back to shed and using my other Deere to finish... SO don't know if it it would do same thing, Your thoughts on it? Appreciate it! Really enjoy your videos
Thanks for the kind words. This machine just had one bad coil. If it is getting hot and shutting off I might start with testing the coils and then move on to other electrical items. A technical manual would greatly help out with trouble shooting.
Please put your 60 in broom and quick hitch on this 322 for sweeping snow mine handles a 60in broom just fine but when you put her in the grass it really works it hard
Love me some 322. Had one I miss it. I have a jd 445 now and it doesn’t seem to have the rear that these older ones do. When I push dirt with my loaded ags it seems it will run out of transmission power before spinning the tires? Any ideas?
Generally I would expect the tires to slip or the engine to lug. Couple things come to mind. 1) filters and fluid, 2) travel on the pedals, 3) pressure test. Loaded ags mean there is lots of traction there so it is possible the transmission is putting all the power to the ground it can.
I have had this same machine for about 10 years now with all the goodies (mower deck, grass catcher, snowblower, hydraulic pivoting blade, rototiller). I love this machine and everything works awesome. However, you mention that there is no creep on your machine which my machine has always had in forward or reversed depending on which direction you were travelling last. Do you know how to get rid of this and if so, how? I does get a little annoying when it happens and I've forgotten to set the parking brake.
There are four different linkages for the hydro system. Each has its own method for adjusting the linkage to stop creep. Check out mytractorforum.com . There have been many folks over the years with the same problem and there are posts with pictures etc. or you can ask the folks there for help.

Interesting sound out of the inline-3 gas engine. It sounds like a mixture between the inline-3 diesel variant.
Nice machine! Glad you got it fixed. I think you may change your mind about parting with it after you play with the snow blower this winter.
I do get the fuel thing if you do not have any other diesel's.
Greg Olson I have one and I don’t think he will want to pry without either, they’re rare, and very good engines and quite too!

Nice a relatively easy and inexpensive fix. I love it when things go that well for me lol

Good Sounding Motor there
How did you fix the play in the steering ?
That could be a real gem.
Is it hard to find engine parts for these?
How come cars in the year this 322 was made have 8 cylinders and 1 coil. Yet Deere puts 3 coils on a 3 cylinder engine?

Smooth. Meant to be run wide open
How much are you gonna want for it?
Does each cylinder have its own coil? I want a 322 after hearing this. I have a 332 currently
Yes, each cylinder has its own pick up on the flywheel and coil.
Can you tell me how to test each coil? My 322 runs good then just shuts off when hot I’m assuming. Let cool down and starts right back up. Coil issue??
When you go to sell it let me know
Don't feel to bad, I've missed a few crack in my day too... These where great L&G Deere , I'm looking at one now...
