Serena lost only 13 games on her way to the SF's that year. But I think ironically, the ease of her wins worked against her vs Venus, as she hadn't played anyone close to that calibre throughout the whole event.

Was this different types of players ( a net player in this case) that made Serena so good because she experienced all types of tennis while a teenager.

I miss this Serena & it's not because of the movement, she was 18 here so I don't expect her to move this quickly at 39, but it's the confidence & assertiveness she had in her game. Just look at her walk in between points & changeovers she was not to be played with & that's what's missing today.

How does that make sense? what you see today is a Serena that has been there done that, with a lot more on her mind and plate than winning a tennis match. Which is totally understandable, if she wasnt so close to the record for majors she would've retired after she had her child.

I think the WS were more mentally tougher than Coco as teenagers but then again Coco is only 17 yo.
