    First video?! Sir, you did an outstanding job--succinct, clear and uncluttered. The music enhanced rather than distracted from your presentation. I'm just plain amazed.

    Hi, I am a retired machinist without all the toys but my std. drill press and this guide will serve me very well making wax duplicates for casting silver. Great video my friend. Clean and simple !

      Oh ya, I sub'd ya up too. For a young fella you seem to have the "HANDS" and imagination to gather up this world and make something of it. It's going to be fun(I love the "F" word) to watch you grow. Subbin me back would be an ok thing to do and if ya like silver, c'mon over !

      All I need now is a pressure cooker pot as I need to de-gas some larger things/ mixes. What kind of - numbers will the pot you show handle ?

      I've held 28.9 in.-Hg but that's all I can do as I'm slightly above sea level but most won't go passed 25 to 26 unless they are at sea level or have a ridiculously strong vacuum pump.

    made one just like yours. I used a router with a acrylic cutting bit (only like 15$). I cut out the acrylic with a circle jig... just a scrape piece of wood. And now i'm at the stage where i put on the silicon. I noticed that you had to cover the holes in the stock pot with silicon!

    Thanks for an excellent video. Seems like a pretty simple thing to put together. I just gotta figure out how to do it with tools I have access to. I've got about 20 vacuum / air compressor motors sitting around. Most with be turned into scrap metal but would like to do something with a few. So I figure the best place to start is a vacuum chamber and pressure chamber. LOL

    Very good work for your first video... let's hope you do plenty more.
    They always say "thou shalt not mill on a drill press". But you're right, if you're working with light plastics... it's fine... I've done it a couple of times and my tiny little drill press and I are both still here.

    What is the mix you use to make the silicone rubber you poured to make the negative that you poured the resin into ?

  • @383IROC
    @383IROC 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    A spritz of a mild solvent to your silicone and squeegee would help to get it nice and smooth. It will act as a lubricant and prevent the pulling you experienced. I usually use wax and grease remover.

    This is beyond awesome 😎👏🏻 really a professional video, I was shocked to read it was your first 0.o. I wanted to see how I could build a vacuum chamber for my resin projects , they are turn out bubbly ,and the project doesn’t let me put a lighter over it ... so it ruins my pieces every time . But by the looks of all the valves... I don’t think they sell those here in the Netherlands, and as a new start-up I can’t afford an all ready made vacuum chamber . I started my projects to help out my husband with income. I have 2 small kids under 2 and a small disability 😅🙈 so was actually thinking of using one of our old cooking pots with a glass lid ...

    might be an idea to use an old propane tank as a vacuum storagevessel when running a smaller vacuumpump , using this you can run the vacuum some time in advance and have vacuum ready to reach full vacuum inside the vacuumchamber pretty mush immediately

    Good first video! Informative with clear step by step instructions. My only criticism is that you haven't provided a material list showing what you used such as the type of silicone, resin, where you got the pot etc etc etc etc...
    (I will definitely be building one of those vacuum chambers though. I hope it doesn't suck to bad.....)
