One of the good things about living near a major, major target for WWIII is that I do not have to worry at all about surviving such a war. No SHTF gear. No radios that will probably get EMPd anyway. None of that matters here. Not only will the enemy flatten this area repeatedly, our own side and allies and are also likely to hit it just to ensure it is kept out of enemy hands.
But what is you are somebody like me that constantly has this black cloud following them? I will survive a nuclear attack even if I am ground zero. I am the one that will survive to live amongst the mutants and radioactive gigantic sized cock roaches. That is why I will be purchasing the Retekess TR111. I will need that sd card slot to listen to mp3's while the rest of the world is a radioactive wasteland.

I think your getting a solid little shortwave radio, with a few nice little features, for $55. Nice to throw in a pack, or a coat pocket on the move.
I purchased a ATS-20+ receiver having FM AM (MW & SW) with a rechargeable Battery for $76.00 from Amazon. I am using a Long wire 100 ft copper wire antenna for better reception. Works great and picks up all kinds of SW broadcasting. It is portable and can go anywhere.
The apps on your phone highlight how great of a content creator you are.

That's a cool little radio. That phone app seems pretty nice and responsive. Be a good radio to keep in a bug out bag. You know....I saw the other video about that giant SW radio...and really debated buying it...but honestly don't have much use for something so large. This I could toss in a faraday cage and bust it out when needed. Looks great...Also, love the ultra-dry humor as always. Pure gold. Okay...just got to the part where you showed your phone...i literally laughed so hard i had to pause.

I'm new to the world of shortwave and learning everything I can by watching videos and subscribing to Shortwave accounts on the X app. I ordered a portable radio to keep on hand to get me through power outages. The one I had went through hell and has deseases. Anyway, the new AM/FM radio I ordered also has shortwave " Retekess TR629". Can't wait to tinker with it .

Love the videos! Couple of questions: 1. How well does it receive? 2. Is there a public list of good stations to listen to for Newbies? C. Do you perform all your own stunts or is there a body double?
I have the “Radioddity” branded model and I honestly love it. Mine did come with all the previously mentioned stuff plus a pair of earbuds and a clip on antenna extender.

Quick question Randy is the Retekess waterproof? My concern is if I accidentally spill a BudLight while I'm inside a Liberty Safe with Dylan Mulvaney (if'n he/she/it is in the neighborhood also seeking shelter) and the turbulence from a nuclear bomb drop causes my beer to spill on the Retekess. I totally trust the FBI to let me out, but I don't want to damage my Retekess. Thanking you in advance...
its not waterproof, but it'll still work fine half melted if you pass out in front of a fire and a burning pallet falls too close to it
I am sure that Bud Light is not strong enough to defeat the tiny radio. I would be far more concerned about Dylan Mulvaney sharing the "safe" space.

With an equal antenna how well does the little radio receive SW? Thank you for letting me know it doesn't have single sideband. I used to have an old Sony portable sw radio that had single side band.

I have a old Grundig S 350 radio for my big clunky one, and a Raddy RF30 micro radio for my portable. Basically the same situation as Randy's examples.
My retekess V-115 was only $20, but I spent more for wire to make a long antenna, and extra batteries.
ButI prefer the Tecsun PL-680 hich has full coverage from 500KHz - 30 MHz.
The apps page you setup for that..... priceless.

All Band Si4732 portable shortwave receiver for around the $50.00 amount, or are they not good enough? It has some bells and whistles like AM, FM, LSB, USB ETC.

I was just looking at a "Toddler Radio". Looking at FCC docs, it is fixed to FRS channel 1 and has a picture of Paw Patrol on it. 😆 I'd imagine the FCC death squad will be around soon to tell anyone using this Paw Patrol radio what they can and can't do. (Come on, this is perfect April Fools material, I'd hope it at least gets stored up for that. 😆)

Cool lil pocket radio. These are cool for chore things, car repair, dishes, toilet rebuild and floor mount un fraudifying previous install, ect. Clear, talk or music, but not a subwoofer suitcase that will overpower 10% thinking processor.
That Eton, that is the IC-705 for shyhams. The traditional meter, and ssb, with squelch. If anything gets real wild, ill mention it on soc. media, I don't need to stand in ragchew chowline. 🍻

WOW - I very much appreciate your caring nature and respect for “SOMEPEOPLE” ! As usual I appreciate the hand modeling you did with the wrist strap. It is a real shame you had that injury! I can not tell what you are pointing to with the people chewed pencil but I did notice the length of the hidden antenna a quarter wave id say since I am an expert on antennas! The SOS button is a very nice feature in an emergency SHTF situation but, I could see some problems with that! There are quit a few Morton’s that might think you use it to TUNE the radio. I want both but I don’t want to be STUPID?? Although the small radio does BT to my phone I think my phone has to be charged to use it? 🤓🧐🤔

If people don't need a physical radio they can also get an SDR dongle which will plug into their computer and do the same thing for less than $500 as well. The SDRPlay RSP1A is only $119 - a great deal for what it does.

Retekess makes cheap but functional radios for the budget. Their customer service department is also excellent and the best I have experienced.

I have that "$500" radio. Didn't cost me that much, almost less then half, but I've also used some smaller HF radios. The 750 is my goto when after a couple of beers, I want to sit out on the back porch and copy some CW. One feature is a must is a BFO. But cool little radio.
Oh i still have my Grundig 800, purchased from Drake back in the day. Still love it, eats D batteries like crazy but still love it.

Got one of these in Seattle...picks up the weather band great but I've been scanning the SW band and it will lock up quite a few frequencies (e.g. on 15.xxx) and show a 7 strength but I hear just a static/buzz.....haven't found anything else. Any idea what's happening?
I get the same thing on my much more expensive shortwave - it seems to be some kind of high-power interference/noise. Probably from some kind of local high-power electrical equipment.
