Killswitch is one of those bands that almost everyone in the metal world loves. I’m not surprised you enjoyed them. Amazing live band too.

There are a few bands that scream throughout verse and have clean vocals as the chorus.

So a little history about Killswitch Engage. They are one of the pioneers of metalcore, which takes elements of punk rock, and metal and combine them. Which is how you get clean vocals as well as growls and screams. A lot of people dont think metalcore is a legit genre cuz they aren't metal enough but eh to each their own I love this band. This song also marked the return of Jesse Leach, the original singer. The band formed in the late 90's and were very much in the underground scene. In 2002 they released the album "Alive or Just Breathing" which was a huge success but at the same time Jesse Leach had just left the band, due to depression, other mental health issues, as well as destroying his voice because at the time he had no technique. 2003 marked a new time for the band when Howard Jones joined the band and catapulted them to huge, almost mainstream success and gave us huge classic songs such as My Curse, The End of Heartache, The Arms of Sorrow, and Rose of Sharyn to name a few. His vocal style was completely different from Jesse's. He could growl, scream, and sing clean vocals extremely well and almost effortlessly. In late 2011/early 2012 Howard announced he was leaving the band due to mental health issues as well as his diabetes becoming very unmanageable because of all the touring. This almost put the band out of commission for good but they decided to hold auditions for singers as a last resort and if they couldn't find one they would hang it up. During this audition Jesse came back and auditioned like everyone else and he had made huge improvements to his vocal technique and while he couldn't sing like Howard he was miles ahead from when he was first with the band. Jesse has now been with Killswitch Engage since 2012 and there has been a lot of criticism in his early years of coming back because they don't like the way he sings and they want Howard to come back and for Jesse to leave. Since then there has always been a comparison of who's better but die hard fans love both of them and wanted an album with them both singing. In their latest album they had a song together titled "The Signal Fire" and all fans loved it. I would listen to more Jesse Leach songs and Howard Jones songs first before you listen to "The Signal Fire"

There is very little punk influence in metalcore it still mostly sounds like metal. Hardcore is pretty much the opposite way, a lot of punk with a bit of metal which is why there is no screamo/screaming in hardcore but there is in metalcore

This is jesse leaches first band which he quit and and Howard Jones joined. Jones voice almost god tier. High scream understandable screams and an operatic almost saintly clean voice.
