      Hey man i know you asked this a while ago, but NEVER do a RTK flight without at LEAST 4 GCPs if it is for anything commercial, esp construction related. Preferably 5 GCPs, 4 corners and one in the middle. If you dont do this, you will have huge data loss due to inaccurate measurements. I have tried everything under the sun to avoid doing GCPs, but they are absolutely essential, even with RTK base stations. When i only used the DRTK-2 with no GCPs, it put my entire jobsite off by 1 foot vertically. We ended up just going with a Topcon network subscription because the DRTK-2 wasnt giving us very accurate results, but im sure there has to be something i was doing wrong.
      For reference, im a full time drone pilot in the construction industry

    hi buddy. i noticed the 2d map didnt line up well to the google map overlay. i thought that the rtk precision would line it up prefect with the google map? good break down though as i'm contemplating this rtk kit but will definitely need practice if i get it before offering the service. how much is the dji terra subscription? i notice other software providers like dronedeploy charge a hell of a lot per month.

    • @TerrestrialImaging
      @TerrestrialImaging  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Google earth satellite imagery is not as accurate as most people expect it to be, and sometimes can be multiple meters off. There is areas though when it could be tighter. The drone imagery collected during the flight is also referencing GPS data collected from the time it was flown where the GPS data from google earth might be a bit older. You shouldn't really expect the google earth data to perfectly line up with your drone data.
      DJI terra costs $4,000 USD for a perpetual license and If you wish to pay annually it is $1400 USD

    Hi Chris. Do you know if this set-up can be used without using the planning of flight. I'm making photogrammetric models of complex 3D features (rock cliffs etc) - and I think using a flight plan might be risk the drone having to avoid many obstacles. So when you buy the D-RTK 2 do you need to purchase a subscription to some sort of DJI RTK satellite service or is it a plug and play solution?
    And is the purpose of it to increase the accuracy of measurements on your map?
    Does this eliminate the need for ground control points?
    Great video btw.

    • @TerrestrialImaging
      @TerrestrialImaging  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      So, there is no additional costs or subscriptions. You will pay $3,600 for the RTK device and $250 for the tripod. From there its plug and play forever.
      The purpose of it is to utilize two GPS systems in order to make sure your drone is writing the most accurate GPS meta data to the images you are taking.
      DJI says that if the base station is on a known point, you can expect an absolute accuracy of 3cm and you can achieve this without ground control points, however, on a surveying job I reccomend GCPs

      These are affordable enough and get the job done.
      And I dont really have a true formula, but Id want a minimum of 3. One at the highest point, one at the lowest point and then one somewhere in the middle. But 3-5 should suffice. Again these have to be put on a location that you or a surveyor has marked. These do nothing if you just toss them on the ground.

      When setting up the base station you need to do 2 things:
      1. Put it on a known point for absolute accuracy. If it is not on a known point you will only have relative accuracy, meaning everything in the ortho will be accurate relative to other things in the ortho, but not exactly accurate from a coordinate stand point
      2. You need to get the Z coordinate for the known point and go into the rtk advanced settings, and set the height of your pole by adding 1.801m + Z coordinate height in meters.
      Your coordinates need to be in WGS84 format when using the DJI base station
