Carl I had my American since May. Turning has become even more of a pleasure. The lathe allows some bigger projects to be handled effortlessly. Enjoy the new machine .Happy turning. Looking forward to your new projects. Norbert Ploetz
Many congratulations Carl on receiving such a beautiful lathe. No one deserves it better than you so all good wishes for a successful dealership. Best wishes, Alan.
Gorgeous Lathe Carl. I have been eyeing the Sweet Sixteen as I like the drop down removable bed area. Thanks for sharing your input on the Robust lathes. I am saving for mine.
Congratulations Carl !!!! I'm happy for you (and envious as well). I used the one Brent donated to Arrowmont last summer and it only took about an hour or so the first day to decide that I had to replace mine someday with an American Beauty. I know you'll love it turning on it. Can't wait to see the first project you make on it.
Hi Carl Well you finally have the lathe its been great watching you go from that very first blue lathe with the open belt drive to the Delta 46-460 you got for Christmas then the Powermatic and finally having that piece of beautiful American engineering at its best. That lathe truly is ''The American Beauty'' I cant wait to see you turn on it. All the best John
Congrats! That's beautiful! I see many enjoyable hours in your future and many more great videos for those of us envious of your new toy! Enjoy! Take care, Dave
Wow! That IS a Beauty!! Nice lathe my friend! I hope you enjoy it! That tilt away tailstock blew my mind off! Very, very nice! Congratulations! Cheers! Daniel
Wow, that's a hunk of machine right there!! I love all the great features, thanks for doing an overview for us. One day, I hope to have one of those puppies sitting in my shop too!
Sounds good. Hope to have my inside bowl rests done soon, and working on my own McNaughton coring blades, and a arm rest for when I am sanding. Wish I was going to SWAT.
Congrats Carl, that is an awesome machine, I look forward to more of your enjoyable and informative videos!! I made my wife watch the video, but she glared at me the whole time. You know how you feel as if the side of your face is about to burst into flames?? Yes, that type glare.... Great machine!!!
I really like my 1642 but after doing a ton of research this is definitely my next lathe. Crazy attention to detail and built incredibly well. Have to wait a while longer but can’t wait!
Now there is a lovely lathe Carl. I'm surprised they don't make them illegal as much fun as having one of those must be. I'm gonna have fun just watching you have fun.
Definitely a nice looking machine. I'll be curious if you notice any extra vibration with the stainless bed. Cast iron is supposed to be better in that respect.
That makes powermatic look like harbor freight lol :) Wonderful addition to the shop, Carl! I want to see you put the largest, most unbalanced, and heaviest piece of wood you have in between centers and see how fast you can make the speed before it starts to jump......i'm serious by the way. I honestly really want to see that :) Happy turning, Peter
Wow! Looks like an awesome lathe. The swing away tail stock, stainless bed, and magnetic controls are really cool. One thing I didn't like to see was the emergency button is out of the way. I guess if you are lying on the floor it's easy to reach, but that doesn't appear to be an easy to reach button if you have an emergency while standing up. Overall a great looking lathe! congrats!
Hi Carl, I am soooo happy for you. My AB has been on order now for about 2 weeks and due here in Rochester, NY the first part of October. I am looking forward to your future projects and your AB. What a joy that will be for you as this machine has many great features that will make it more of an extension of your turning abilities than being a machine you use to create an end product. Did you get the 2 or 3HP version? Well as Brent says in his video... "What I have more for in making an American Beauty for you, is turning on one myself!" That's what I am looking forward to Keep on turning, (as another Robust user says), Bob Kolock Rochester, NY
Great Lathe! I am fortunate to own an American Beauty as well. My real job is digital marketing and I was fortunate enough to earn Brent's business and update the website which allowed me to purchase the best lathe ever. i watch your videos all the time, but now it will be even better.
This looks like a great lathe. I have a Powermatic I can't use now because I don't have 220V nor the space. How does this lathe compare the Oneway from Canada? The Stainless steel bed would be great for turning green wood like you mention.
This is a great lathe, as is the Oneway. The stainless steel bed is a huge plus, especially when you're turning green wood. I've had mine for 8 years and not a spot of rust on it. I wet sand resin with water all the time too.
Muito lindo e com certeza uma maquina quê dá gosto trabalhar com elá ; junta o seu talendo quê não é pouco mais uma ferramenta dessa é como juntar o util ao agradevel parabens e um forte abraço.......
I plan on getting a Sweet16, as soon as a couple things settle down and I move into a place with a bigger shop. Why the American Beauty over a Sweet16? The gap bed on a Sweet16 with the ability to move the tool rest to the headstock side of the turning is just too good to pass up for turning larger bowls..
Ok...... What did I miss??? You JUST got a brand new Powermatic! Now this? How lucky can one guy be? Where's the other one? That's one hell of a nice lathe.
There were features on the American Beauty that the powermatic didn't have that I liked much more! The tilt away tailstock, and the ease of moving the headstock to the end of the lathe are a couple.
woodturningjohn Thank you John.... Don't tell Brent, but I had to take mine apart to get it into my shop. They come fully assembled. It helps to have friends with strong backs :)
Carl I had my American since May. Turning has become even more of a pleasure. The lathe allows some bigger projects to be handled effortlessly. Enjoy the new machine .Happy turning. Looking forward to your new projects. Norbert Ploetz

Congratulations Carl !!!! I'm happy for you (and envious as well). I used the one Brent donated to Arrowmont last summer and it only took about an hour or so the first day to decide that I had to replace mine someday with an American Beauty. I know you'll love it turning on it.
Can't wait to see the first project you make on it.

robohippy Defiantly Reed! We should set something up when I get back from SWAT.
Sounds good. Hope to have my inside bowl rests done soon, and working on my own McNaughton coring blades, and a arm rest for when I am sanding. Wish I was going to SWAT.
YES!
Very nice, I can't wait to see your first turning project on it. I know it will be amazing like all your other projects.

Mark Chapnell Thank you Mark!
Congrats Carl, that is an awesome machine, I look forward to more of your enjoyable and informative videos!! I made my wife watch the video, but she glared at me the whole time. You know how you feel as if the side of your face is about to burst into flames?? Yes, that type glare.... Great machine!!!
J Fenter LOL ouch ;) Did you machine all the wonderful thing you could make her on this amazing lathe? :)
I really like my 1642 but after doing a ton of research this is definitely my next lathe. Crazy attention to detail and built incredibly well. Have to wait a while longer but can’t wait!
Congratualtions Carl. That thing is truely a beauty. I would love to try one out some day.

John Bare lol Thank you John!
Carl Jacobson That's an awesome lathe. Looking forward to seeing some great projects coming off that fine machine.
WoodworkingManiak Thank you very much Tim!
Wow ... lovely lathe Carl. I only have one question, can I used my stacked dado set on it??
WoodWorkWeb Thank you Colin,
I would say... at your own risk ;)
WoodWorkWeb If you want to use your stacked dado set on your lathe you need to think ShopSmith. ;>)
Definitely a nice looking machine.
I'll be curious if you notice any extra vibration with the stainless bed. Cast iron is supposed to be better in that respect.
awldune Thank you, I'll let you know.
That makes powermatic look like harbor freight lol :) Wonderful addition to the shop, Carl! john horsfall Thank you John!
