The Robust lathes are a masterpiece of design and creation. AND they are AMERICAN made!!! But both men are VERY innovative. It is men like this that have made the United States!!
Being primarily a bowl turner I’m glad to see you both can do it. Great video. Thanks for sharing. Im a fellow American Beauty owner. Looking forward to seeing the bowl during this years open house. I’ll critique your work😜
That was really enjoyable to watch. You may not be a traditional turner now but I always point new turners to look at your oldest videos to learn and get ideas. Those were the days with a basic lathe and proper (lol) tools where you even hollowed using a gouge never a drill in site let alone those fancy scrapers. I learnt a lot from those videos.
Enjoyed that Carl, it was great to hear both your backgrounds, and what was the trigger to start you both on the journey. Great video mate. Take care Mike
I wish I had Mr. English for a shop teacher! I am planning for retiring someday .... 38 years as a shop teacher.... and an American Beauty is going to be my first purchase as my retirement gift to myself. Sadly, I'll have to sell one of my vintage lathes to do this, but I fully understand that the American Beauty offers waaaaay more possibilities in terms of projects that I take on.
Hey Carl, great making this video with you and visiting your shop ! Many thanks, Brent
As someone who is awaiting the arrival of a "Beauty," this was fun to watch.

I enjoyed that. Like you, I don't consider myself a bowl turner because I like to turn a variety of stuff (even the occasional bowl).
It's awesome to see/hear his past...especially that he studied to be a shop teacher ;-)
